Samhain, Halloween, All Hallows Eve….

Origins of Samhain, better known as Halloween, All Souls Night….  with a take on the modern approach to the celebration of this day.

Halloween Origins: What is Samhain?
These Halloween origins are a time in which Druidism and Celtic Reconstructionists celebrate Samhain as a feast for the dead. Divination and fortune telling is believed to have better communication with the spirit world because the fall season holds the thinnest partition between the two worlds of the living and the dead. The Druids built huge sacred bonfires to offer sacrifices to the many Celtic deities that number over five hundred named gods. Before each yearly sacred bonfire, the Celts would extinguish their hearth fires and relight them with embers from the bonfire.

Halloween Origins: How do other cultures celebrate?
From the ancient Celtics era of the United Kingdom, Ireland, and Scotland, the celebration practices has spread throughout the cultures of the world.

Hillary Clinton asked about scandals, audience gasps in horror

A bright young man in New Hampshire had the audacity to ask Hillary a question about her past scandals. The crowd gasps. Wouldn’t it have been great if one of the moderators could have inquired into her scandal plagued past as well? First the clip then some old time news.

Earlier I posted: Hillary Clinton, the FBI, and Travelgate – a lesson about her moral fiber, and Hillary Clinton fired from Watergate Commission for ‘lying, unethical behavior’ just in case you missed these posts.

John Fund exposed the notable moments from Hillary Clinton’s life that will be left out of NBC’s upcoming miniseries about her life — such as Travelgate, her cattle-futures controversy, and Whitewater — which begins after the Lewinsky scandal.

CNBC with 150 seconds of a terrible debate

One can only shake one’s head in disbelief that the GOP would ever agree to such nonsense regarding the process of the GOP debates. The media even gets to chose which candidates get to debate. For those who chose to watch baseball or otherwise have an enjoyable evening, good for you. Here are the lowlights.

This video sums up the nonsense in just 150 seconds.

Sweden rape capital of the West thanks to ‘immigration’

Anyone wonder how this plan of the so-called “refugees’ flooding the USA will turn out for us? I cannot fathom why the women’s groups are not outraged by the behavior of these savages. Yet not a peep. So look down the rabbit hole, and this is what we are in for. Here we go:

As Europe confronts the social and financial realities of its largesse in opening its doors to millions of Muslim immigrants, it is time the tale of two countries is told.

The tale is an important one as the two countries involved have taken completely different approaches to Muslim immigration and the preservation of their own culture. As such, both provide examples of the proverbial canary in the coal mine on this matter.

Sweden began opening its doors to Muslim immigrants in the 1970s. Today it pays a high price for having done so. The group suffering the severest consequences of such an open door policy has been Swedish women.

As Muslim men immigrated to Sweden, they brought with them an Islamic culture sanctioning rape. It is a culture bad enough inherently in the treatment of its own women. Under sharia, Muslim women serve little more purpose beyond catering to their husbands’ sexual demands. A non-submissive wife runs the risk of being raped by her husband.

But this failure to shine the light on Muslim male rapists leaves them hiding in the shadows to commit even more egregious sex crimes.  With no fear of accountability, these predators have adopted a pack mentality. A crime non-existent in Sweden in the 1970s is now commonplace today as the country has become a breeding ground for gang rapes.

Harris-Perry to Guest: ‘Hard Worker’ Is Offensive Term Due to Slavery, Working Women

My category of “Liberal Loonies’ got a super catch in its file with this rare one. Yes, been a rough week, so I give you this looney who now tells us it is not P.C. to use the expression, “Hard Work.” But first, It goes something like this:

Prior to the exchange, Harris-Perry described House candidate and Republican Congressman Paul Ryan (Wisc.) as “a catfish noodler” because similarly to how “you go catch the catfish with your hands,” the same can be said about what Ryan would face as Speaker in “trying to wrangle the current Republican Party into line.” – See longer more idiotic clip over at the Newsbusters link at bottom of post.

10/24/2015: Harris-Perry: We Have To Be ‘Super-Careful’ About Using ‘Hard Worker’ Because of Slaves and Poor Moms

AGUILAR: But let`s be fair. If there`s somebody who is a hard worker when he goes to Washington is Paul Ryan. Not only works with the Republicans but Democrats. You know very well that I work on immigration issue, trying to get Republicans to support immigration reform. Paul Ryan is somebody who has reported immigration reform, has worked with somebody like Luis Gutierrez. Luis Gutierrez is very respectful, speaks highly of Paul Ryan. This is somebody who`s trying to govern.”

HARRIS-PERRY: “Alfonso, I feel you. I just want to pause on one thing. Because I don`t disagree with you that I actually think Mr. Ryan is a great choice for this role. I want us to be super careful when we use the language “hard worker.” because I actually keep an image of folks working in cotton fields on my office wall. Because it is a reminder about what hard work looks like. So, I feel you that he`s a hard worker. I do. But in the context of relative privilege, and I just want to point out, when you talk about work life balance and being a hard worker, the moms who don`t have health care who are working – “

Monday afternoon, David Rutz of The Washington Free Beacon found this great gem from the Saturday edition of ultra-liberal Melissa Harris-Perry’s eponymous MSNBC show in which she scolded guest Alfonso Aguilar for using the term “hard worker” because it’s demeaning to slaves and working women. Prior to the exchange, Harris-Perry described House candidate and Republican Congressman Paul Ryan (Wisc.) as “a catfish noodler” because similarly to how “you go catch the catfish with your hands,” the same can be said about what Ryan would face as Speaker in “trying to wrangle the current Republican Party into line.”

Reject USDA School lunch program? Punishment follows

You know the drill by now. Schools are abandoning the Michelle Obama’s school lunch programs due to the uneatability and loss of revenue. If you thought just giving back the subsidies would be the end of the story, think again. No, the jackboots come. The USDA promises a “Cascade of Regulations.”  It is the Chicago way.

In the words of board vice chairman John Laferriere:

“Essentially, we want to get off the federal teat. At the end of the day, that’s what it is. And we’re getting penalized for it.”

What did they think Michelle Obama et al. were going to do, give them a gold star for resisting?

Today’s lesson at Londonderry High: The purpose of Big Government is to become Bigger Government. Those who succumb are absorbed. Those who resist are squashed. H/T:Moonbattery

michelle-obama-great-mother

School officials last year decided to remove Londonderry High School from the National School Lunch Program after nutrition regulations championed by first lady Michelle Obama resulted in a significant drop in cafeteria sales, and a significant increase in food waste, the New Hampshire Union Leader reports.

The move meant the high school forfeited federal subsidies that come with the program, but officials increased lunch prices and introduced new offerings students love to make up the difference, and then some.

The high school’s successful transition, however, apparently doesn’t sit well with federal bureaucrats at the U.S. Department of Education, who apparently issued a threat to district officials recently in hopes of changing their minds.

The USDA’s national office told school officials they must provide an “accountability and reconciliation plan” to document production and waste in the high school’s kitchen and comply with “more than monthly” inspections to continue its arrangement“ Dining services director Amanda Venezia said Monday she was told in a conference call last week that the U.S. Department of Agriculture may not treat the school as a processing facility,” the Union Leader reports. “The categorization would impose substantial regulatory and financial burdens, she said, require at least one new hire and lots of paperwork.”

Sunday Respite: In memory of the Knight Templars terrible October

In 2007 the Vatican issued a proclamation declaring the Templars innocent of their alleged crimes. This after finding “misplaced” documents of their trials. How different our world would be if this act had not been perpetrated against the Templars, the defenders of Christ. It is worthy of us to to honor them each October. May they rise again.

Come, my brethren! Take courage and stand beneath our banner! The darkness closes in, and we are the only true defenders of the Light! March to victory and arise triumphant!

On Friday, October 13th, 1307, King Philip IV of France, in league with Pope Clement V ordered  all Templars to be rounded up and thrown in prison. The Knights were accused of numerous crimes including heresy and treason. For two hundred years the Knights Templar had been the most dominant force in Christendom.

Philip IV borrowed enormous sums of money to finance a war with England. A poor king and an even worse military commander, Philip was easily defeated. He saw a way of eliminating his huge debt. On that fateful day of Friday, October 13, 1307 he ordered all Templars arrested and their property seized. The Grandmaster of the order, Jacques DeMolay was thrown in prison along with several other high-ranking members of the order.

Their ‘trial’ was a farce. The Templars were charged with heresy, worshiping false idols and other crimes against the church. Many of them were tortured until they ‘confessed’ to their crimes. Refusing to capitulate, Jacques DeMolay would not confess and Philip ordered him burned at the stak

Nero (Dems) fiddle (Celebrate) the Iran nuclear deal

This gives new meaning to Nero fiddles while Rome burns. The Dems are out celebrating the Iran nuclear deal. Thousands of lives at stake, long-range nuclear missiles will be out an about. Smile Nancy, smile.

Just around the corner from the House Freedom Caucus’ closed-door meeting with Paul D. Ryan on Wednesday afternoon, Democrats threw a party to celebrate formal adoption of the Iran nuclear deal.

A string ensemble invited to play at the stately Rayburn Room event filled the marble halls with music, and provided a sophisticated soundtrack for the GOP leadership race stakeout. Democrats shuffled back and forth from the reception to their cloakroom undisturbed, while reporters pounced on members exiting the GOP meeting with the Wisconsin Republican.

White House Chief of Staff Denis McDonough attended the fete, according to an HOH tipster, who spotted McDonough walking out the door with a mouthful of food shortly after 4 p.m.

Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew, another close confidant of the president, stopped by the party 30 minutes later.

Obama vetoes NDAA – Defense funding of our military

After spending hours watching Hillary dance rings around the GOP during the hearing yesterday, my tired fingers did not feel compelled to opine in written form. So let us give the attention to the real heroes of the day and every day that keep us warm and safe so we may go about and enjoy our lives while they put theirs on the line.

Obama in a fit of peek, couldn’t get his way totally, so he vetoes the NDAA. Did it get any attention? Did you even know about it? He had the press in for a picture-taking affair. Why did he veto it? Because of nothing to do with defense. Rather, finally funding that monstrosity that McConnell and Boehner foisted on us that striped our military.

Democrats were particularly upset over Republican attempts to circumvent the across-the-board spending cuts known as sequestration that began in 2013, saying they could not accept any increases in military spending without equivalent increases for other programs.

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama on Thursday vetoed the annual defense policy bill that includes troop pay and benefits — as well as historic personnel reforms — making good on a promise to oppose Republicans on spending.

Obama rejected the bill because it funnels about $38 billion in daily DOD expenses through Overseas Contingency Operations, which allowed Republicans to fully fund defense while avoiding a larger debate over removing caps on federal spending.

The 2016 NDAA includes a $515-billion base defense budget that lays out troop pay, personnel benefits and policy for DOD, and the $89-billion war fund called Overseas Contingency Operations. It calls for an historic reform of the 20-year pension system, hikes in Tricare fees, protections for the A-10 Thunderbolt II and a review of troops carrying personal guns on bases, among a raft of other initiatives.
