Happy New Year!!

Best wishes for a great New Year to all of our “virtual” friends.

“Lynyrd Skynyrd Members Talk ‘God and Guns’ with Hannity on FNC”

We know there are citizens in the entertainment world who are NOT all radical liberals. Few songs sum up all that we are blogging about, but this is one. Here is a redo of one of our biggest posts with over 7,000 hits. Good to remember this time of year what it’s all about! Enjoy the music!

Let’s just hope they see the writing on the wall and keep coming out of the woodwork. It’s time to balance out the likes of Sean Penn, Barbara Streisand, Alec Baldwin, Whoopi Goldberg, Dixie Chicks, Bruce Springsteen etc etc.

““On Friday’s Hannity show on FNC, host Sean Hannity showed a pre-recorded interview in which he was joined by members of the rock group Lynyrd Skynyrd – Johnny Van Zant, Rickey Medlocke and Gary Rossington – as the group talked about their latest CD, titled “God and Guns,” and the three expressed their support for such conservative values as belief in God and the Second Amendment right of gun ownership. Medlocke alluded to the importance of being armed if one must face an intruder at home during the night.

“But we believe in God, a higher power. And the guns is, is really our freedom of choice. Like you said, the Second Amendment. But we should be able to do what the Second Amendment says. And we should be able to have the right to own and protect our own in our home because if somebody breaks in your home at 3:45 in the morning, they’re not there to have coffee with you. That’s for sure.”

So crank her up for some great music!!

1 in 3 UK College Muslims Support Killing for Islam, 40% Want Sharia

While many choose to live in denial, the war has begun. Looks like there was at least one good thing out of Wikileaks. We can hope that the P.C. movement wakes up in time.

Here is a piece from News Real Blog:

Once again news out of the United Kingdom warns us of the spread and influence of radical views among high percentages of Muslims.  While the Left continues to claim that fears of Islamo-facism and the spread of Sharia is a red herring, our neighbors over the pond are living in the realization of those fears.

Of the many recent leaks by Wikileaks, one  involved some research the American government utilized in early 2009.  In hopes of better understanding Muslim college students in the UK, our government paid attention to a survey done by The Centre for Social Cohesion out of England.  The study questioned both Muslim and non-Muslim students in 30 British universities on their views of Islam.  The CSC survey is a massive report called “Islam on Campus”.

The statistic that stood out the most was that 32% of Muslim college students believe it is OK to kill someone in the name of religion.  Most who held that belief said that killing is perfectly fine if you are defending your religion.  So it shouldn’t be surprising that another CSC study (done in July 2010) revealed that 1/3 of terrorist attacks done by British Muslims the last ten years was done by people who had attended universities.

Other parts of the CSC research found that 40% of Muslims want Sharia law in the UK for Muslims.  1/3 of those want a worldwide Caliphate based on Sharia.  There are already over 85 Sharia law schools in the British Isles, so their wish is becoming true.  Moreover, 54% of those wanted a Muslim Party to be represented in Parliament. Meanwhile, the first accredited College opened here in the U.S.

Zaytuna College currently offers two majors, a choice of Islamic law and religion or Arabic language. Zaytuna held its first classes this summer — intensive study of Arabic to prepare for classes in the fall.

“The incoming students at Zaytuna College must pass a proficiency exam – – not in English – – but Arabic. Those who fail must enroll in the school’s “Arabic Intensive Program. … At the completion of their Islamic training, students, who specialize in Islamic theology, must pass an exit exam in tajwid – – the proper recitation of the Koran.”

And behind this College?  One is Zaif Shakir This is the same CAIR who said it was right for Muslims to attack Fort Bragg.  Read here from Bunkerville we posted last November  Cair Speaker said ok to attack Fort Bragg

Pro-Abortion Obama EEOC Nominee Chai Feldblum Approved

Lost in the shuffle in the last week of the most recent session of the Senate was news that another one of President Barack Obama’s pro-abortion nominees was confirmed. The EEOC enforces federal laws barring discrimination in employment and the Obama appointment could impact abortion as it relates to employment issues. She will no doubt attempt to install her Progressive agenda. Keep an eye out for more “rules” coming down from this Department. Regardless of how one feels about abortion, the Catholic Church has the right to hold to its faith.

She also clerked for Supreme Court Justice Harry A. Blackmun, the judge who handed down the Roe v. Wade decision that has allowed more than 53 million abortions.

Feldblum has been criticized for praising Blackmun to the New York Times as someone who had the “ability and desire to look behind the law and see the people.” Just what we need…a society without the rule of law.

“He brings a sense of caring and compassion that will be missed,” she said after his retirement.

Patrick Reilly of the Cardinal Newman Society said he is also concerned and cited an EEOC ruling saying Belmont Abbey College must provide the coverage for contraception, even though it violates Catholic teachings.

“The news of Feldblum’s nomination is especially noteworthy for Catholics given the EEOC’s recent infringement on Catholic Belmont Abbey College’s religious liberty by claiming it discriminated against women when it removed contraceptive coverage from its employee health insurance plan,” he said. “If confirmed by the Senate, Feldblum would serve on the EEOC for five years and could decide cases related to abortion.”

Kiddie literature: Missing Muslim Characters

The liberal is in search of a cause once again. When was the last time my Christian heritage was a concern in the schools?  How about the Jewish faith? Oh, no can do?? Minnesota, land of the growing Muslim population. Hint: It is going to take more than a book to feel “like a worthwhile human being”. How about giving up Jihad? Here tis:

Minnesota educators struggle to find books, especially fiction, depicting Muslim young people in America.

“There wasn’t a whole lot in our library that provided a sense of ‘this is what’s normal,'” said Julie Scullen, a reading intervention specialist at Northdale Middle School in Coon Rapids, where she took stock of books about Muslims growing up in America.

“It is extremely important for young people to read stories reflecting their ethnicity and/or religion in order to feel like worthwhile human beings,” said Freda Shamma, director of curriculum development for the Foundation for the Advancement and Development of Education and Learning, based in Cincinnati.

“The absence of such stories leads to poor grades in school, feelings of loneliness and alienation, and low self-esteem,” said Shamma, who is working on an anthology of Muslim literature directed at middle-school-age students.

Leah Larson, media specialist at Richfield Middle School, sees an appetite for such books. She pointed to a novel in her media center, “Does My Head Look Big in This?”, about an 11th-grade Muslim girl growing up in Australia who decides to wear the hijab, the traditional Muslim head covering, full time.

“I just can’t keep it on the shelf,” Larson said of the book.

Even if such books were in circulation, school officials would have to make sure they are getting high-quality reading material that will appeal to the students. Hey, I will vote on that one! No bomb making please.

Sotomayor Leads Liberal Justices – keeping up with expectations

No surprise here. As the saying goes, elections have consequences. It looks like she will meet the Progressives expectations and then some. Lots of “heart”, and that of course is what is important in the eyes of the great one. Anyone who stops by MSNBC and catches “Lockup” and its various forms, can appreciate what the prison officials are up against in dealing with the bad guys. The incarcerated have a new friend. The Constitution? Maybe not so much. Here tis…

The New York Times writes, second term Justice Sonya Sotomayor is quickly easing tensions on the left that her former career as a prosecutor would align her with the more conservative justices. Justice Sotomayor told the Senate panel at her conformation hearing last year that empathy would play no part in her administration of the law. Empathy, said President Obama in his endorsement of Sotomayor, was a key characteristic of a great judge.

New York Times:

“Justice Sotomayor has completely dispelled the fear on the left that her background as a prosecutor would align her with the court’s more conservative members on criminal justice issues. And she has displayed a quality — call it what you will — that is alert to the humanity of the people whose cases make their way to the Supreme Court”.

Although the Supreme Court has ruled on two inconsequential cases this term, they have refused thousands and Justices reserve the right to comment on why the case was not accepted. These reports are used to take the temperature of the high court at any particular time. Seven such reports have been released, three written by Sotomayor, more than any other Justice. In all three she was empathetic to the rights of defendants and prisoners.

“Pitre’s decision to refuse medication may have been foolish and likely caused a significant part of his pain,” she wrote. “But that decision does not give prison officials license to exacerbate Pitre’s condition further as a means of punishing or coercing him — just as a prisoner’s disruptive conduct does not permit prison officials to punish the prisoner by handcuffing him to a hitching post.”

Obamacare– Last Helicopter out of Saigon -2nd time

An old post starts getting hits again. Looks like there is new interest in what Obamacare is all about since the Death Panels came back to life. So here goes on “Home Visits” A redo of a March 8, 2010 post:

There is a perk in HR 3590 Section 2951

“American Spectator” from last March which provides a glimpse into our future.

It’s all supposed to be voluntary, those “home visits” that are tucked into the mammoth Obamacare bill. If you have a strong stomach, and stronger bottom, you can find home visitation on pages 568-595. That’s Section 2951 of H.R. 3590, the Senate bill that Harry Reid brought down the chimney on Christmas Eve.

All voluntary, they say, but once you “volunteer” to have the oh-so-helpful folks from Social Services come in to help with your newborns, or with a number of other specified issues, will you ever be able to get rid of them?

The bill provides for federal funding and supervision for this vast expansion of government intrusion into family life. This is the Nanny State on steroids.

Is your family being “targeted” for such home visitations? Let’s see if you fit into one of these very broad categories:

• Families where Mom is not yet 21. (No mention here whether she is married or not.)
• Families where someone is a tobacco user. (Does this include the White House? Watch out, Sasha and Malia!) Does Grandpa, whom you love and have taken in, enjoy his after-dinner pipe?
• Families where children have low student achievement, developmental delays, or disabilities.

As if that list was not wide-ranging enough, here’s the net that can encompass tens of millions:

• Families with individuals who are serving or formerly served in the armed forces, including such families that have members of the armed forces who have had multiple deployments outside the United States. [Emphasis added.]

So, while Johnny gets his gun, the government steps in to “help” his family at home. Ronald Reagan used to say the most frightening words in the English language were these: I’m from the government and I’m here to help.

Who will sit atop the federal pyramid that runs this vast new invasion of family privacy? Why, it will be Sec. of Health and Human Services, Kathleen Sebelius, of course. She was the most pro-abortion governor in American history when President Obama tapped her for his Cabinet.

Do you spank your children? You should know that HHS bureaucrats think you are an abuser.
Do you support the Second Amendment? How would you like HHS bureaucrats asking your children if you maintain firearms in the home for family protection?

Do you home school your kids? Take care. Members of Congress who have tried to abolish home schooling are big backers of this health care bill. Do you wonder why?

Republicans:Use It or Lose It

The American Spectator post segment I am quoting, gives voice to much of what is percolating in many of our minds. We seem to be given a reprieve from the Progressive juggernaut, but Republicans seem doomed to repeat the same errors as before. After the November 2 election, a bit of hope returned, only to be dashed. More disheartening were the last breaths of the 111st Congress that would not die. Each week it appeared doomed, only to rise again. This should be a great lesson. We can only hope for a better result.

… Obama and the Democrats, briefly stunned by the “Scott heard ’round the world,” shook it off and pressed ahead. The result was the biggest expansion of the federal government since the creation of Medicare in 1965, a legislative victory for which the Democrats risked their majorities.

When was the last time Republicans took similar risks in the battle over the size and scope of the federal government? What do conservatives have to show for a Republican president, House, and Senate from 2005-07? Very little besides John Roberts and Sam Alito, who without conservative outcry might have instead been Alberto Gonzales and Harriet Miers.

Howard Dean said of having a majority in Congress, “If you don’t use it, you lose it.” The Democrats lost theirs but leave Obamacare behind. The Republicans didn’t use theirs and lost it anyway.

Oh, the Republicans have pledged to repeal Obamacare. But when is the last time Republicans repealed any major liberal program? FDR boasted that “no damn politician” would ever touch Social Security. Given the way Republicans ran from a plan to reform the retirement program with personal accounts while they had a 55-45 majority in the Senate, Tom DeLay bringing down the Hammer in the House, and George W. Bush in the Oval Office, can FDR’s claim be disputed? Read more : American Spectator

Trial Lawyers Benefit The Most From 9/11 Health Care Bill

Of course we knew this to be the case. Lawyers searching for a new victim class. If we thought the Republicans fixed the bill when the compensation fund dropped by $8 to $4 billion, think again,

The law firm that pocketed more than $100 million suing the city over Sept. 11 is trying to cash in on the just-passed Zadroga 9/11 health bill.

The hunt was on even before the House put its final stamp of approval on the $4.3 billion James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act last Wednesday – and long before President Obama signs it next week.

Ads began popping up touting Zadroga-Act.com with the tease: “WTC Compensation Fund: Free Consultation. Call Us Today.” Clicking on that link, though, doesn’t take you to a do-gooder advice site. It leads to the website of Worby Groner Edelman & Napoli Bern, the lawyers who represented most of the 10,000 9/11 plaintiffs and grabbed the bulk of the $150 million in contingency fees – about 25% – from the $625 million settlement.

A source said the firm also sent text messages to the phones of their 9/11 clients. Responders found the quick strike for new clients and paydays unsavory.

“Ten million each, or whatever they each cleared, wasn’t enough for them?” said John Feal, a Ground Zero construction worker and leading advocate.

A source familiar with the legal dealings was disgusted the firm is using the Zadroga name to drum up business: “They really have no shame,” the source said.

Another expert involved in settlements was more charitable, but agreed what’s going on looks like “ambulance chasing.”

“It’s not unethical and it’s perfectly legal, but I’m a little surprised,” the legal eagle said. “It’s bad judgment, and it’s what gets lawyers in trouble with the public.”

Marc Bern, one of the top partners at the firm and a veteran class-action warrior, reacted angrily to the suggestion the speedy client-seeking is unseemly. He said the online ads didn’t start running until the House voted on the bill – but the firm clearly was prepared to jump.

Mr. Bern, by the way, gave $85,000 to Democrats in the 2008 election cycle.

Ted Kennedy’s Dog Splash Passes On….

Right Wing News: Mary Jo Kopenchne is unavailable for comment

The late Sen. Edward Kennedy’s dog, Splash, who was the star of a children’s book about Capitol Hill, has died.

Kennedy’s widow, Vicki, announced his death in an e-mail Thursday. She calls the 13-year-old Portuguese water dog “a world-class fetcher of tennis balls and a meeter and greeter of presidents, senators, congressmen and even foreign dignitaries.”

Of course, let’s face it, only in Liberal World is a man who walked away from a car accident to create an alibi, where the vehicle is in the water and sinking, with a young woman drowning slowly, is turned into an icon and model citizen, despite having no regrets or remorse.
