You hear the drumbeat….Hillary Clinton blamed the electoral college among many things for her loss. Now she and others such as Cortex are out on the same old trail. Do away with the electoral college.
What I am here to tell you is that we are well underway of doing away with the electoral college with not so much as amending the Constitution. How? Let me give you a way back post.
Forget the 12th Amendment which demands the Electoral College. Instead form an interstate compact:
Additionally, the framers of the Constitution were attempting to prevent too much power from being directly put into the hands of the public. They were consistently wary of any one party having too much power, and there was no difference between a tyranny of one individual and a tyranny of the majority, in their opinion. The Electoral College system was designed so as to nullify some of the potential for the tyranny of the majority by making population less important in the whole of the Electoral College process. Now the new wrinkle. Give the State’s electoral votes to the Presidential candidate who wins the country’s popular vote thus insuring the demise of the electoral college and overriding the Constitution.
The Connecticut state Senate on Saturday voted in favor of a measure to give the state’s electoral votes to the presidential candidate who wins the popular vote.
The move puts the state in a position to become the 11th, in addition to Washington, D.C., to join an interstate compact to pool their electoral college votes for the candidate who wins the popular vote.
The state Senate voted 21-14 in favor of the bill, with the support of three GOP lawmakers, The Guardian reported. The measure passed the state House on a 77-73 vote last month. Democratic Gov. Dannel Malloy is expected to sign the legislation, according to the report.
With the addition of Connecticut’s seven electoral votes, the compact would have 172 in total. For the compact to go into effect nationally, it would need 270 electoral votes – the number needed for a candidate to win the presidency. More at The Hill

Easy to see how a few States with major Democrat numbers could rule Fly-Over country.
No need to change the constitution. Sounds to me that it’s time to take this action to court and have it adjudicated.
Democrat candidate Cortez calls the system a ‘shadow of slavery’s power’ after the confirmation of Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Dinesh D’Souza reacts on ‘Fox & Friends.’
Hint: We are a constitutional republic, not a democratic republic.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, a Democratic socialist hoping to represent New York’s 14th Congressional District, declared over the weekend that the Electoral College is a racist American relic that must be abolished.
“It is well past time we eliminate the Electoral College, a shadow of slavery’s power on America today that undermines our nation as a democratic republic,” the 28-year-old Boston University graduate tweeted to her 881,000 followers Saturday afternoon.

I remember writing a few posts about this awhile ago but I haven’t heard much about it lately. I didn’t hear Connecticut passed the legislation until I read it here, looks like they are going stealth with this effort. Slowly but surely they are inching closer and we need to stop this.

Yeah, well…
Article I Section 10 clause 3
No State shall, without the Consent of Congress, lay any Duty of Tonnage, keep Troops, or Ships of War in time of Peace, enter into any Agreement or Compact with another State, or with a foreign Power, or engage in War, unless actually invaded, or in such imminent Danger as will not admit of delay.
To have a national popular vote there must be a national election — there isn’t.
State popular votes cannot be added together and called a national popular vote because states have different rules for voting.
The notion is ridiculous, absurd, and unconstitutional.

Well, no one has taken it to court yet. Depends what the word compact is… No one has to write one thing at this point. They divide their electoral votes any way then can. But I get your point.

From my earlier post, I cited where the Constitution prohibits states from entering into agreements with each other. The federal government is charged with enforcing the Constitution; states are also charged with upholding the Constitution; however, We the People, are the final guardians of the Constitution.
When states blatantly violate the Constitution and if the government refuses to halt this violation of the Constitution…it’s up to us to ensure that the Constitution remains intact.
I’m not too worried about the ‘popular vote’ thing because I don’t think it would survive a challenge. There is no national election, ergo there is no national vote. Because states have different voting laws state popular votes cannot be added together to qualify for a national popular vote.
To get around the Electoral College the Constitution must be changed, the states are prohibited from agreeing among themselves to a work-around.
And, as always, it’s up to us to preserve our republic.

And I’ve always thought my buddies on our blogs who talk about Civil War were NUTS. I’m getting it now…..I put the blame squarely on leftwing professors. And you’re right…”who has the guns”. God FORBID it comes to anything like that, but I don’t see one scintilla of evidence that the two sides can talk and the Left can even begin to understand how much of America they’re destroying ….completely.

Doing away with the electoral college will be the new rallying cry to get the moronic democrat voters off their fat asses to vote in November. Listening to those who I am in contact with, (people across a wide swath of this deeeep blue soon to be sanctuary state as I referee high school soccer across six NJ counties), and their conversations I hear concerning the hatred for Trump and the disappointment in the Kavanaugh appointment would scare the poop out of me if i was not the pragmatist that I am.
Heres another microcosm of what liberals have brought down upon our heads: While the homeless are now setting up their camps in NYC subway cars the NYC MTA chooses to do nothing as it is once again plans raising fares on its trains and buses to +- $3.00. The fare was .15 when I was a kid and spitting or dropping trash on a platform or train car would bring a fine, a cop’s nightstick across your shins and possibly a trip to the pokey.
New York’s democrat voters prefer the conditions as they are today. Next comes congestion pricing as NYC prepares to approve legislation that will charge motorists for traversing streets and certain areas of the five boroughs in order to raise revenues for the MTA ,referred to as The Money Taking Agency by those in the know. But then again this is the easiest solution to the rampant unabated corruption and waste the MTA is known for.

Every time someone praises Levin I bring this up this subject. Levin is flat-out wrong on an Article V (Constitutional) convention and he is lying to his supporters.
