FAA’s diversity includes focus on hiring people with ‘severe intellectual’ and ‘psychiatric’ disabilities

What other department plays a more important role in safety?

The Federal Aviation Administration is actively recruiting workers who suffer “severe intellectual” disabilities, psychiatric problems and other mental and physical conditions under a diversity and inclusion hiring initiative spelled out on the agency’s website.

“Targeted disabilities are those disabilities that the Federal government, as a matter of policy, has identified for special emphasis in recruitment and hiring,” the FAA’s website states. “They include hearing, vision, missing extremities, partial paralysis, complete paralysis, epilepsy, severe intellectual disability, psychiatric disability and dwarfism.”

The initiative is part of the FAA’s “Diversity and Inclusion” hiring plan, which claims “diversity is integral to achieving FAA’s mission of ensuring safe and efficient travel across our nation and beyond.”

“Do you want to fly in an airplane where they prioritized DEI hiring over your safety?,” tech billionaire Elon Musk wrote on X last week. “That is actually happening.”

“The DEI Rot In The Airline Industry Is Way Worse Than You Think,” Daily Wire commentator Matt Walsh wrote in an op-ed last week.

You have to remember, because they are Equity Hires its next to impossible to remove or control them once in position.

We can be sure that no longer the best qualified will be the hires. Equity rather than equality is the goal

Transportation Buttigieg: Roads Kill More Blacks, Racism Built Into Our Highways

One trick pony Pete. Persistent Pete. You have to give him credit for that. Racist Racist Racist. Now it is the roads. How can one man pack so much of it from his Transportation gig? It is hard to pick the worst member of his Cabinet. Surely this one has to be close to the top.

He might just want to check on our supply chain issues, especially now with the new regs in California that has taken out many independent truckers.  Container ships are backing up waiting to be unloaded.

California Destroys Its Independent Truckers

California has carried out its own de-kulakization by eliminating the businesses of the state’s estimated 70,000 independent truck drivers. These entrepreneurs own and operate their own trucks, carrying cargo from California ports and manufacturers to the rest of the U.S. The effects on these business owners have been catastrophic. No American will escape the ramifications.

The destruction of independent truckers began when Governor Gavin Newsom signed Assembly Bill 5 (AB 5) on September 18, 2019. That law compels independent drivers to surrender the companies they’ve built and seek employment in large firms that can hire them. Read more National Review

“Racial disparities” continue to be a focus for Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg, according to a recent appearance on MSNBC’s “PoliticsNation” on Saturday.

MSNBC host Al Sharpton sat down with Buttigieg and questioned him about his dedication to addressing inequality regarding road fatalities.

“A lot of people don’t understand, even down to road fatalities, it is not equal,” Sharpton said.

Bunk here is tempted to step in and point out that we might just want include some variables, such as car jackings and other illegal activities, but I don’t want to be called racist.

Buttigieg has previously highlighted discrimination within America’s infrastructure. Dismantling a highway. What could be more American than that?

“What we’re doing is we are reconnecting people who may have been disconnected or divided by discriminatory decisions in the past,” Buttigieg said in November 2021.. “That helps everybody. I don’t know why anybody would be against reconnecting people who have been divided by discriminatory decisions in the past.”

Travel Plans

by Mustang

The price of an airline ticket — up 25% since the first of June — the most significant jump since 1989, and up from the 18.6% spike in April 2022.  But those high prices aren’t keeping any Americans home … no, sir.  According to Bank of America, personal spending on airline fares has increased 60% — with the demand creating havoc among the airline companies to get those planes in the air.  Of course, Americans are geniuses; those airline tickets are being purchased with credit cards.  What?  Me Worry?

No one who expects to make money by investing in the stock market is interested in the airlines; they’re a losing proposition unless you’re one of the big boys.  Since the beginning of China’s virus, airlines have been drowning in debt and clawing their way back to profitability — or at least to break even.   With travel restrictions lifted and people giddy to leave their homes no matter the cost, the airlines couldn’t have been more ecstatic.  Why?  Because there is more demand than there are seats.

Meanwhile, jet fuel prices have increased 150% over the past twelve months.  Oops … the airlines also do not have enough pilots and flight attendants, who, by the way, are demanding higher salaries.  Economists describe this as “market forces at work.”  Here’s an example of what that means: pre-Biden, a round-trip fare from Philadelphia to Los Angeles, costs $320.00.  Now it costs $685.00.  But what the hell … it’s only money.

Well, there is a bottom line to this … if you’re clever, you can still travel at twice the cost (thanks to your president).  You begin with a travel agent, who will charge you a fee for booking but they are reliable.  It’s only money.  Hint: it’s in the packages.  Also, if you’re an elderly socialist, you can contact AARP for “complimentary travel agent access.”

Another cheap way is to book your travel on an inexpensive airline — but always insist on a plane with wings firmly attached.  And seats.  You may have to settle for stale peanuts, though.  Some companies like Spirit Airlines or Sun Country.  Companies no one had ever heard of before now.  And you can mix up your travel plans.  For example, instead of flying to an international airport to catch an international flight, travel experts suggest you take a train to the international airport … train tickets are cheaper.  And, it will be cheaper to vacation in Slobovia than in the Fiji Islands.

Or, maybe you’re just like the rest of us.  We can’t afford the vacation, we can’t afford to charge up our credit cards, and we have no confidence in this country’s economic future … at least not in the near term.  Oh, and also … elections have consequences.  If you’re reading this blog regularly, you know what I’m talking about.

Secretary Pete: ‘Remove City Highways To Fix Racial Inequities’

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg said on Monday that his agency would use a part of the $1.2 trillion infrastructure bill to address racial inequities in U.S. highway design.

The program, called “Reconnecting Communities,” will focus on the “legacy of highway construction built through communities” and remove or repurpose infrastructure barriers. (Worth taking the ride out to the link.)

The GOP is quick to point out that the latest spend-a-rama bill just passed only has about ten percent for infrastructure as we know it. There is precious little discussed of the remaining 90 percent. Try as I might, I can only find a broad brush of it. But here is one jewel that deserves our attention:

Tucked in amid larger pots of money is $20 billion to “reconnect neighborhoods cut off by historic investments (in infrastructure)” and to ensure new projects advance racial and environmental justice.

Critics say it could produce unintended consequences such as more traffic congestion in local neighborhoods — especially if it leads to closing or significantly altering highways, as some cities are contemplating.

Some cities, such as Syracuse, N.Y., want to tear down portions of urban highways, restore old street grids and redevelop neighborhoods. O’Toole is skeptical, saying highway demolition could increase traffic congestion in local neighborhoods and lead to other unintended consequences.

“I’m afraid what we’re going to see with this $20 billion is anti-road people tearing out roads,” O’Toole said.

So far, no one is suggesting that will happen in Atlanta. But there are proposals to build parks over the Downtown Connector. Williams recently requested nearly $1.2 million in federal funding for one of those projects, “The Stitch,” which would cover the highway between the MARTA Civic Center station and Piedmont Road.

“I think our communities are trying to figure out how to reconnect, and have had some success,” said A.J. Robinson, president of Central Atlanta Progress, which proposed The Stitch. “We just need more connections.”

Hey Pete, Those of us alive at the time know this.  That Parkway & others in cities across America, were built for Automobiles Only. No trucks No buses. Twas so the family could take a trip in a car w/out dealing w/ 24k-40k lb trucks wearing out the road & spewing diesel. Fyi.  Don’t the low bridges block white kids too?? A reply: I’m black. Been black all my life. I know how to drive a car.

You could try: “Thank you Sec. Pete. This is a wonderful thing. Excuse me while I go talk to my lawyer about my upcoming arrest for sedition.Image

Just like we really have nothing to lose by confronting the simple reality that he wasn’t entitled to maternity leave. And we have everything to gain by acknowledging this fact and then dealing with his scam.

We pick up the story line from the NYT:

In the past, “we created a way for people to get on a highway and go directly out of our community,” she said, adding that highways also created “barriers that were really detrimental to the communities left behind.”

Now, Rochester is trying a different approach: Instead of moving people in and out of downtown as quickly as possible, the city is trying to make downtown a more livable place.

The highway removal and other deconstruction projects are part of a long-term plan for a city still struggling to come back from years of economic and population decline. The big bet: Rebuilding more walkable, bikeable and connected neighborhoods will attract new investment and new residents. And city officials hope it might even reduce car-dependence in the long run.

And how are things working out in New York City?

New York City has intentionally caused the traffic nightmare

Time for some traffic problems in Manhattan!

City officials have intentionally ground Midtown to a halt with the hidden purpose of making drivers so miserable that they leave their cars at home and turn to mass transit or bicycles, high-level sources told The Post.

Today’s gridlock is the result of an effort by the Bloomberg and de Blasio administrations over more than a decade of redesigning streets and ramping up police efforts, the sources said.

“The traffic is being engineered,” a former top NYPD official told The Post, explaining a long-term plan that began under Mayor Mike Bloomberg and hasn’t slowed with Mayor de Blasio.

“The city streets are being engineered to create traffic congestion, to slow traffic down, to favor bikers and pedestrians,” the former official said.

“There’s a reduction in capacity through the introduction of bike lanes and streets and lanes being closed down.”

The goal of the jammed traffic is to shift as many drivers as possible to public transit or bicycles.

Secretary Buttigieg – The problem? – It is our ‘demand’, We want stuff

Our Secretary of Transportation’s Pete Buttigieg Paternity leave, and his media rounds this Sunday makes him a topic worthy of conversation. Bill Kristol’s tweet attacking Tucker Carlson adds the requisite fuel. Better yet, we learn the problem is us.

Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg predicted that supply chain issues facing the US will continue into 2022, but stressed that Congress passing President Joe Biden’s infrastructure proposal would be the best way to help alleviate those problems on the Sunday talkie on CNN. Wow. Call this the super Cliff Note Edition.

The man didn’t have the sense of responsibility to appoint a Deputy to carry on during his absence, and no one seemed to noticed that he was MIA. No one noticed that this was a problem developing for months? Who was in charge? A third rate Mayor from a third rate city who filled in the boxes for being “woke.”

I followed the comment thread from the twitter post below. Amazing. Apparently no one found it odd at all that a Cabinet level position could remain vacant for several months, and that a position of such a high level of responsibility would demand more than the ability disappear off the face of the map for a good period of time.

Hail Mr. Pete. The latest iconic figure to emerge to reflect the ignorance of the electorate. So while they may not have toilet paper and the requisite Christmas toys for their kids, Pete had his time with “his” babies.

In truth, if one looks one tiny level below the surface of his statements, he makes a telling argument of why so many women have difficulty with children making it to the very top. One member of the partnership requires an intense commitment.

In the full interview on CNN he is able to spin why of course the problem is once again us. We want stuff. Lots of stuff. If we didn’t want stuff there would be no distribution problem. If only life were this simple. But Pete is a simple man from being a two bit Mayor in a two bit town. This folks is what we have and what we have become.

For those who have the inclination the full interview, why our buying stuff is our problem. It is well worth a listen from an unserious person.

RIP Michael Bloomberg

Just like that, the end of Michael Bloomberg. The debate was worth taking the time of watching a new version of MMA cage fighting.

This is the cliff notes from the debate.

Let’s pack up Pete…

Thats my summary

P.S. Pete and Amy forgot why they were there and chose to attack each other. Apparently trying out for the VP debates.

Other than that everything swell in the swamp. Your take on the debate?

Buttigieg: “I don’t care if millions of American possibly lose their private Healthcare

The statement reflects exactly what the democrat candidates think about the voters. “I don’t care.” It is going to be their way or the highway…and the candidates think this going to get them elected? Why yes, probably so. Anyone but Trump. On second thought I think I will rubberneck tonight and take a look at the debate.

Townhall reports:

Buttigieg on Private Insurance: ‘I Don’t Care’ if People Lose Preferred Coverage

Healthcare is a center-stage issue for the 2020 election cycle, both in the Democratic primary and the general election. Democratic contenders have differing views on healthcare, but all candidates want government to take up a bigger role in the insurance market.

Far-left candidates, Sens. Bernie Sanders (D-VT) and Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) have pledged to completely destroy the private insurance market with a Medicare for All system, which boats a trillion dollar price tag.

Former Vice President Joe Biden, Sen. Amy Klobuchar (D-MN) and Pete Buttigieg have all come out in favor of plans with a more modest cost; although these plans, similar to a public option, require less government funding, each still represents an overhaul of the insurance market.

Pete Buttigieg, who has emerged as a top-tier candidate after the Iowa caucuses, causually brushed off the fact that millions of Americans would lose their preferred insurance under a system exclusively run by the government, as we’ve seen under the Affordable Care Act:

Other than that all is well in the swamp
