Hobby Lobby and The Little Sisters of the Poor take on the Goliath, not the GOP

While the GOP huffs and puffs about the lawless Obama administration, it apparently is now up to individual patriots to try to stop the freight train. I was particularly struck when I caught this video of the Green family owners of Hobby Lobby over at  Catholic Libertarian. It is easy to picture the folks at Hobby Lobby as less than real people, but as a  corporation. Meet the Green family as they do battle with the Goliath. Let us not forget the Little Sisters of the Poor. As Teresa Rice states on her blog:

Brings us this: On March 25, 2014, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear Sebelius v. Hobby Lobby Stores Inc., a case arising out of the commitment of Hobby Lobby owners David and Barbara Green and their family to live out their deeply held religious convictions by “operating their company in a manner consistent with biblical principles.”

The family believes that this commitment is the reason that Hobby Lobby, which began out of the garage, has grown from one 300-square-foot store to one of the nation’s leading arts and crafts retailers with more than 550 stores in 45 states.

The Little Sisters of the Poor are an international Roman Catholic Congregation of women Religious founded in 1839 by St. Jeanne Jugan. They operate homes in 31 countries, where they provide loving care for over 13,000 needy elderly persons.

Although the Little Sisters’ homes perform a religious ministry of caring for the elderly poor, they do not fall within the government’s narrow exemption for “religious employers.” Accordingly, beginning on January 1, the Little Sisters will face IRS fines unless they violate their religion by hiring an insurer to provide their employees with contraceptives, sterilization, and abortion-inducing drugs.
