EPA To Crack Down on Residential Wood Burning?

The end of wood burning coming to America. Forget the fact that for much of rural America, wood burning is a basic fact of life. It started with the end of the light bulb as we knew it, and crappers that had a decent flush. But now they want to freeze are sorry as**s off. First it is wood burning heaters, but that is only the beginning.

For  anyone wondering what the Nuclear Option was all about, this is it. The D.C. District court where most of the edicts of this regime are challenged now will be stacked with Obama’s sycophants. Where the edicts of Obamacare will be challenged. Here is how the game is played. With a wink, wink, the Federal agencies encourage outside groups to file suit against some perceived flaw in the way we live. Either an out of court settlement is reached, or it is more than likely to end up in the second most powerful court. Now, the GOP can no longer hold up the three additional Progressive Judges that will be installed. Here is the sorry tale:

A lawsuit filed against the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) by seven states is seeking to force the federal agency to impose stringent new regulations on residential wood-burning heaters, which they claim “can increase particle pollution to levels that cause significant health concerns.”

If the lawsuit is successful in forcing EPA to impose new regulations on wood-burning heating units, many low- and middle-class families living primarily in rural areas may be forced to spend thousands of dollars to switch to newer units or use more expensive forms of energy in order to stay warm.

“This collusive lawsuit is intended to expand EPA authority to stop burning wood,” Dr. John Dale Dunn, a physician and policy adviser for the Heartland Institute, told CNSNews.com, adding that “small particles are the mainstay of EPA’s regulatory regime.”

“There’s no real dispute here,” he pointed out, adding that the lawsuit is “more akin to professional wrestling than an actual case. It’s another expansion of the leviathan.”

“EPA has been playing this game for years,” Dunn, who is also a lawyer, continued. “Environmental groups get together to file a lawsuit against the EPA with the goal of creating a new regulation.  EPA wants them to file the lawsuit because it wants to put the new regulation in effect, but it doesn’t have the statutory authority to do so. It’s like Brer Rabbit saying, ‘Please don’t throw me in the briar patch!”

Such lawsuits, he added, do not meet the legal standard of “cases in controversy,” in which the court is called upon to settle a real dispute. “They are nothing but an opportunity for the courts to take power and authority from the legislative and executive branches of the government since the courts supervise the settlements. It’s a way the courts can become another legislature.”

If we don’t have access to wood for heat, if and when they plan to bring down the grid, millions in a short time will die, I think that is what these Libs. want. Total dependency on the Government, NO self sufficiency. This is a ploy to Agenda 21 as these Elites sit with their fireside chats.

These people need to get a life. Why don’t they pick something like women or men who wear too much cologne!!!! That is much more offensive and harmful for the environment than a wood stove is.

I heard about this travesty last week and informed a few of my friends with wood-burning stoves. Guess what? These friends reacted in a ho hum fashion. Apathy! It is this head-in-the-sand attitude that is the undoing of our nation. Don’t Americans get angry anymore?

This is exactly what the nuclear option was about, you nailed it; Obama will use this to stack the courts in order to implement his radical agenda through the courts and the EPA is but one example.
Besides this wood burning issue the EPA is also looking to expand the Clean Water act to apply to virtually all bodies of water, including puddles in people’s back yards. If this happens we will lose basically all of our property rights.

If we the people had a voice, had a representative government the EP A would have long ago been reined in and neutered. But this is not the case. The greatest irony is that a republican president signed into law this pox on America. Additionally this set a precedent for agencies such as the Dept of Energy, Dept of Education Dept of Homeland Security, all designed to encroach upon the freedoms whicwe historically deemed untouchable since protected by a constitution which, not unlike Yoko Ono, is increasingly becoming nothing more than something and yellow.

The Green Marxists, inside of and outside of the EPA are probably the most destructive force in America, if not the world. This is one way to get at the “preppers”.

I had contacted efireplacestore.com, because I am on their mailing list, concerning this matter last month. They got back to me instantly, and with a priority on my inquiry. Both of my former houses used wood as an alternative heating fuel. I was, until recent family developments, looking at another house purchase and would have needed to install either a woodburning stove or, a fireplace with insert box.
From what I was reading in the email from efireplacestore.com, the EPA regulations are geared towards units dating from 1985 and older, as they are not efficient units and also emit unburned vapors into the atmosphere. Recently, I learned that woodburning boilers are what is the primary target of EPA, and I hear their concern, I highly suspect that, EPA is engaging in a Class warfare against people that have little or no other option, as means to drive them out of their homes and property and into the welfare system and public assigned housing.
From my own experience, my first house was a big old beautiful house, built around 1910 (I sold it because the neighborhood, “Changed”), on a half acre with detached oversized two car garage/workshop/office. Absolutely loved it, and it was the love of my life. Always on the ladder, and always happy. The winters were cold and propane was expensive. The big open hearth fireplace was nice, but 2,200 square feet meant cold rooms or high fuel bills on a lousy salary that cops earn. I had a local fireplace dealer install a firebox into the hearth. Immediate difference. Thirty minutes after lighting, you could take off your jacket and wear a T-shirt. The entire home was toasty. Seasoned cord hardwood, lasted maybe a third longer to a half longer, than open hearth, depending on weather. Cleaning was much better, and I had the chimney done twice a year and gave the certificate to the insurance broker for the homeowners insurance. In my recent home that was destroyed in the flood last year, it had a woodburning stove that was already in the house. House was just over 1,400 square feet, and the woodburning stove was magnificent.
The new units, are better. More heat sent into the house by blower motors and better burning so the money on cost of purchase and installation are offset in maybe five years. It’s a help. The quality of a woodburning fireplace or stove, is the best. My bones do not ache, and I feel good. I believe newer units are the way to go if they can be afforded. EPA is a gestapo outfit. Fines may be so bad that forfeiture of real property might be their mission goal, but nobody, in congress, has complained or reined in, the EPA.

Thanks for your story. We too have one on a home near the bunker. It is all you say it is. Warm and toasty in a few minutes, the cost just a few hours of manual labor. There is nothing more comforting than self sufficiency. I am sorry of your loss.
