How the Rockefellers Closed Half the Medical Schools in the United States

From: News Alert we get a great look back in time. Amazing isn’t it? The Progressive era. Still, as late as the 1970’s the Medical Schools were lowering the numbers of Medical Students they were accepting, based on mandates. Nothing like control by those who know little about what they implement for the “good” of all of us. Keep in mind what we knew about in Medicine in the 1900’s. The distances that needed to be traveled to get to a patient. The women who were to give birth and the amount of time needed of the Physician.

Flashback to the early 20th century. The Rockefeller operation hired non-doctor Abraham Flexner to come up with a report(PDF) on how to limit the supply of doctors. The rest is history. Wikipediahas a nice summary of the destruction:

In 1904, there were 160 M.D. granting institutions with more than 28,000 students. By 1920, there were only 85 M.D. granting institution, educating only 13,800 students. By 1935, there were only 66 medical schools operating in the USA.

Limiting supply and raising prices: the legacy of the Progressive Era in America.

Even to become a nurse can be $100,00+ in college debt and several years. Now Obamacare imposes huge fees on drug makers so look for prescriptions to skyrocket. PPACA will cost way more than the 2.7 trillion CBO estimate.

ObamaCare does nothing to increase the **supply** of doctors in the marketplace. Instead it will merely increase the **demand** for doctors. This is a recipe for disastrous inflation of heathcare costs for the consumer.

Limiting the supply of doctors. Limiting the supply of energy. We need to limit the supply of ‘progressive’ politicians.

They are right there in it now. They were determined to limit the number of specialists. That is how we got to $3500 eye surgery that took a few minutes. Everyone played a part in destroying healthcare and now the piper must be paid.
