NYC de Blasio’s panel recommends eliminating all gifted school programs

What to do with bright Dick and Jane in the New York school system? They have no right to an enrichment program. After all, they are more likely White. Forget that dear old mom and dad are more likely doing the heavy lifting in paying taxes to support the school system and educating the Johnnies that aren’t so bright. Just who is paying for the school lunch programs and whatever else?

No, in the Socialist perfect world we simply want mediocrity. We want no advancement for the brightest in supporting their creativity. After all they are our future scientists and engineers.  Good work New York. This should bring about a new wave of ‘White Flight” and even worse, poor Black, Hispanics and Asians bright kids will be restricted in getting the opportunity at fulfilling their potential.

No they must be sacrificed on the altar of so called desegregation.

Chalkbeat:

The advisory group tasked with finding new ways to integrate New York City schools is recommending the nation’s largest school system eliminate gifted programs and selective admissions at most city schools.

Those are some of the proposals unveiled Monday night by the School Diversity Advisory Group, made up of academics, students, parents, and advocates appointed by Mayor Bill de Blasio. Earlier this year, 62 of the diversity advisory group’s 67 initial recommendations became city policy.

Their latest recommendations take aim at admissions policies that have been seen as critical for getting white, middle-class families who might otherwise leave the city or choose private schools to enroll in public schools.

Any of the proposed changes have the potential to ignite intense pushback. The group recognizes this tension and says they believe their recommendations “thread that needle in a bold and balanced way,” the report’s authors write.

The report calls for the admissions test to be dropped and for programs to be phased out by not enrolling any new students. Instead, the group advises that the city provide local districts with resources to create their own alternatives that avoid the kind of “rigid academic tracking” that can lead to internally segregated schools.

The New York Times and the Wall Street Journal have more on the topic behind a paywall. More at Chalkbeat

A press conference is scheduled for 1pm today. It will be interesting to hear what our Presidential candidate de Blasio has to say on the matter.

Other than that, all is well in the New York swamp.

Hell yea, Let No Exceptional Child Be Exceptional.

What a cancer infested, rat filled septic tank the democrat party is. How can anyone with a brain cell vote for this sludge.

It started with eliminating “F’s” because it made students feel bad and now we are getting with of rewards and incentives for those who work hard and accomplish something. They are teaching our children that work ethic doesn’t mean anything and this is a lesson they will take with them their entire lives.

I recall the Black families waiting and praying that their child wins the lottery and got into a charter school with tears that followed when they found out they lost. Only in a Progressive world could this seem fair…. what a disgrace but then that is what we have unions for and going to Venezuela.

This sack of s__t de Blasio was interviewed on MS LSD this morning. His arrogance about his chances of making his presidential aspirations more than a sticky wet dream was laughable. But then again this country may be ready to wallow in third worldism ala NYC. Complimented by his Pygmy wife’s ability to hide hundreds of millions the first couple could indeed be the second coming of the Clintons, something surely a majority of Americans would welcome.

If this is due to lack of funds

Then perhaps those in Authority should integrate Mrs. de Blasio who conveniently “misplaced” millions of $$$

That’s outrageous! Passing the barely passing dysfunctional kids and supporting illegals while the best and brightest who would be an asset to the country are ignored….

    Two points:
From what i understand the NYC School system teaches in 128 languages. The liberals will never be satisfied as they as they legislate the city into oblivion from their ivory towers.

In Bergen County on the NJ side of the Hudson River, for years a bastion of conservatism, the liberals are escaping NYC’s crime and corruption as it slides into third world filthdom-is that a word?- and resettling here by the thousands.as they have in Hudson County, a stronghold of the democrats since the 1930’s. And as one would expect, conversing with any of these NYC migrants one quickly discovers they remain Trump hating Obama loving Clintonistas; liberal to their core. They have the money and the means to escape from what they the liberals have done to NY but just as the uneducated impoverished of America Central y America del Sur wave their corrupt gang ridden countries flags here in the US so do the liberals refuse to abandon their destructive anti-American ideology. Sure trump may prevail in 2020 but once he’s gone the country is gone.

We have the same problem in Florida… The years I lived there, we were blessed with the migrant Northerners coming down.. loved it because of the tax system.. No income, or inheritance taxes , real estate rebates for seniors, no car inspections, etc…so could leave it stuff for their kiddies… but alas,, not happy enough have all of this… their liberal ways keep seeping in and they forget why they moved.. Florida is on the cusp.. Couple of hundred thousand moved in from PR… we shall see how it goes.
