Puerto Ricans approved S.S. disability because they speak Spanish

Little noted as this administration approves Social Security disability for whatever reason for apparently anyone is the fact that after collecting for two years, one is eligible for Medicare. Once again this administration is determined to destroy every aspect of our system.

The Washington Free Beacon reports:

The Social Security Administration (SSA) approved disability benefits for hundreds of Puerto Ricans because they do not speak English, despite the fact that Puerto Rico is a predominantly Spanish-speaking territory.

According to a new audit by the Office of Inspector General (OIG), the agency is misapplying rules that are intended to provide financial assistance to individuals who are illiterate or cannot speak English in the United States. Under the rules, Puerto Ricans are allowed to receive disability benefits for their inability to speak English as well.

“We found the Agency did not make exceptions regarding the English-language grid rules for claimants who reside in Puerto Rico, even though Spanish is the predominant language spoken in the local economy,” the OIG said.

The audit said a person applying for disability in Puerto Rico who cannot speak English “may increase his/her likelihood of receiving disability benefits.”

The language issue was A PART of the consideration, an AUDIT discovered this, and the consideration on the mostly Spanish-speaking island will be removed.

Get over it, ya’ whiny backwards hicks who obsess over nothing that ever actually matters in your own lives.

you might want to concentrate: Even if this didn’t come to fruition, do you even understand the IMPLICATIONS? Do you understand all Americans should be a little dismayed at even the suggestion that speaking SPanish in a mostly Spanish-speaking place shouldn’t earn anybody anything special? Only a liberal could possibly believe speaking Spanish is a disability.

Good grief … and congress is discussing a plan to cut benefits to those who DO speak English. Man … is this a great country, or what?

I don’t know what to say other than to ask when will this end? You nailed it above with your “overwhelm the system” comment for that is exactly what they are trying to do and it looks like it is going to be successful.

At last now when they fly in to NYC once a month it’ll be only to pick up their welfare checks; their SS checks will be in their mailbox.
