CIA sending guns to Syrian rebels via Muslim Brotherhood

It is a full-time job just keeping up with all of our war making, weapons giving, lets change this or that regime. Does anyone really have a clue what happens when the so-called rebels manage to take over Syria? Of course not, but let that not stop us. Egypt has been such a success, let’s keep spending our bucks on another adventure. Great, the Syrian Muslim Brotherhood is helping us out. Sounds like a winner. The reward for this is that we will be selling drones to Turkey so they can blast their folks after they are no longer the good guys. Why are we selling, giving away our latest technology? Why another “leak”?

Yesterday, the Turkish media reported, “Turkey … agreed with the US on a deal involving the transfer of US-engineered unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) that could prove crucial in combating terrorism.” The Predator drones, expected to be delivered in June 2012, are supposed to help the Turks combat terrorists, which in Ankara’s narrow definition means the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) crossing into Turkey from the Iraq border. Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar are allegedly paying for weapons sent to Syrian opposition rebels through CIA operatives working on Turkish soil, the New York Times has reported.

The weapons, including automatic rifles, rocket-propelled grenades, ammunition and some antitank weapons, are being funneled mostly across the Turkish border by way of a shadowy network of intermediaries including Syria’s Muslim Brotherhood and paid for by Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Qatar, the officials said. Sounds like a great group of friends.

According to statements made by American officials and Arab intelligence officers, weapons such as grenades and rifles are being passed onto Syrian rebels through southern Turkey under the provision of CIA operatives working on the ground.

Operations are being conducted under secrecy (Laugh line here) and are funded by Turkey, Qatar and Saudi Arabia, according to the New York Times.

CIA officials are trying hard to block any possible attempt by al-Qaeda or other terrorist groups from obtaining weaponry that is meant for Syrian opposition militants. The intelligence agency is also constantly attempting to build networks of communication and create allies within opposition circles. Sure, that really has been working out swell, now hasn’t it?

The CIA is considering whether to provide further assistance to the rebels, including satellite images and intelligence, according to the report.

The White House, State Department and CIA have declined to comment on the claims.
