We keep hearing that those residents who find themselves in the areas designated as “Shelter in Place” or find themselves outside the areas, are being asked to remain outside and not go home.This simply is not true.They are not being asked. It is not true. They are being ordered and threatened that they will be arrested. Once again I ask, under what orders? I
In one of the most unreported stories, shooter Eric Frein who has threatened to kill more, has been on the loose for a week after shooting two Pennsylvania State police officers, killing one. Thousands of school children are still required to stay home again today, roadblocks have been set up not permitting hundreds of people to go to their homes. What about pets and needed medications? The state police are asking all residents of Barrett and Price townships to stay inside and not go outdoors. Also, remain away from windows.

Al and Debbie Mundy spent the night in their pickup after going out for groceries Friday night. When they got to the end of the road, a state trooper told them they would not be permitted back into the neighborhood.
“They would not let us turn around to go a quarter-mile back to our house,” Al Mundy said.
Canadensis resident Richard Barry couldn’t get home from work Friday night before the roadblocks went up. Barry said Saturday morning that he heard from family members who were at home and they told him police were going through their yard and the dog was barking.
Worried about his family, he said he preferred to wait near police in hopes of hearing something rather than staying overnight at the firehouse.
Update; The Emergency Management System just issued a “Shelter in Place” for entire Monroe County, PA
A news blackout has taken place. Media is reporting heavy scanner activity. That is all anyone is getting. Even Twitter has gone pretty much silent after a flurry last night.Those listening to the Monroe County local and State police scanner activity online numbered over 22,000 at one point. Meanwhile, hundreds remain essentially locked out or locked in under threat of being arrested. Frein is getting exactly what he wanted. Good work.

At 7:45 a.m. this morning, state police are still asking all residents of Barrett and Price townships to state in indoors and away from windows. (Meanwhile, citizens are being threatened with arrest).
An evacuation center is in place and there are reports that residents who could not get to their homes either stayed at the center or slept in their cars last night as the search for Eric Frein continues in the Bear Town Road area off Route 447. Ed. How about our pets and medications?

As police closed in on the Blue Ridge Drive neighborhood late Friday night, township residents had shut themselves up in their homes. Cole’s Pizza restaurant along Route 390, where reporters had hung out during another search Thursday night, was quiet except for a few firefighters coming in for coffee.
At 11:03 p.m. a Barrett police car driving north into Canadensis made an abrupt U-turn and sped south.
At midnight, the Monroe County 911 van packed up and left its post at the Barrett Township building. A man in the van said the crew was done for the night, but he didn’t know whether the police were done.
Rich Barry, one of the residents, said he was coming home from work in New York City at 7 p.m. when police stopped him at Route 447.
“I have a wife and a 2-year-old at home and I want to see them,” he said. “I wanted to try walking back home, but an officer told me they’d put me under arrest.”
At 3 a.m. Saturday, about 15 state police cars from the Montoursville and Towanda barracks crossed the roadblock at Route 447 and Bear Town Road and headed northeast on Bear Town Road toward Blue Ridge Drive.

Canadensis, Pennsylvania (CNN) — Police in Pennsylvania appeared to be closing in Friday night on the suspect in the slaying of a state trooper.
Police have surrounded a home where Eric Matthew Frein is believed to be hiding, a local government official told CNN. The home, which was broken into, is not far from Frein’s family home in Canadensis, in the Poconos Mountains.
Police exchanged gunfire in the area with an individual believed to be Frein, the official said. Video over at

Please do not go outdoors and remain away from windows or openings to the outside.
Police are in the process of searching the area.

Monroe County Communications confirmed a report of shots fired 7:15 p.m. Friday night. Officials could not say specifically where the shots were reportedly fired. State Police issued the warning at about 7:30 p.m. Friday night. They said the warning was “due to police activity in the area.” The public is asked not to travel to this area.
