Memorial Day – “The Phantom Regiment”

 

Memorial day. A day to remember all that gave so much.

I chose “The Phantom Regiment” composed by Leroy Anderson in 1951.

The theme is a nameless body of soldiers approaching from a distance to the sound of trumpets. The nearer they draw, the louder the music sounds until finally the regiment draws away into the distance.

The accompanying photographs are in a similar aspect showing marching regiments from around the world……
