Office Depot refuses to make copies of pro life prayer

McCarthyism at is best. Now Office Depot is going to inspect the copies that it makes and decide whether one has the right to freedom of speech? I guess we knew this was coming didn’t we. Did I ever think that this would happen in America? No.

Office Depot has refused to print copies of a pro-life prayer on the grounds that to do so violates company policy of printing material that “advocates the persecution of people who support abortion rights.”

Maria Goldstein, 42, ordered 500 copies of “A Prayer for the Conversion of Planned Parenthood” at Office Depot in Schaumburg, Illinois, for distribution at her Roman Catholic parish’s Masses Sunday. The prayer was composed by national director of Priests for Life Father Frank Pavone, a Breitbart News contributor.

In a press release sent to Breitbart News, Pavone responded to Office Depot’s refusal to print copies of his prayer by saying that it was time for pro-life advocates to fight back against an effort to restrict their freedom.

“Let me be clear: Priests for Life, and I personally, have a long record of promoting respect and dialogue with those who advocate abortion,” he said. “Just ask the Father of the Pro-Choice Movement, Bill Baird, with whom I have held joint press conferences over the years calling for respect in both word and deed across the lines of the abortion debate.”

Dr. Carson’s Nazi warnings get hammered, Jonathan Turley’s similar remarks, not so bad

Quite a different reaction when Jonathan Turley, a well-known Liberal Democrat takes Obama to task for his unconstitutional actions. Not a peep as he warns us of the dangerous road we are on. He appeared at a Congressional hearing and stated his same concerns. Contrast this with Dr. Benjamin Carson who stated the same concerns with even more fervor. Of course, he is a black man. Black men have to know their place on the Democrat plantation. You tell me the difference between these two men’s statements.

Dr Ben Carson Targeted By The IRS? –  Think About Nazi Germany – O’Reilly – Wake The Hell Up America!

This is the Huffington Post‘s spin. For some reason, they havent posted Turley’s remarks. I wonder why.

WASHINGTON — Ben Carson, the retired Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon and Fox News commentator, recently warned supporters of Oregon GOP Senate candidate Monica Wehby that progressives are turning the country into the next Nazi Germany.

Carson made the comparison during a Jan. 31 fundraiser he headlined for Wehby in Wilsonville, Ore. A video of his speech posted on YouTube shows Carson discussing the “secular progressive movement,” a term coined by Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly to negatively characterize individuals with liberal or left-leaning values.

“There comes a time when people with values simply have to stand up. Think about Nazi Germany,” he said. “Most of those people did not believe in what Hitler was doing. But did they speak up? Did they stand up for what they believe in? They did not, and you saw what happened.”

“And if you believe that same thing can’t happen again, you’re very wrong,” Carson added. “But we’re not going to let it happen.”

Carson said one of the main goals of progressives was to “fundamentally change who we are,” and part of that entailed “keeping a blanket of silence over the majority.” Most Americans have common sense, Carson added, but are afraid to speak out because they might be targeted or investigated by the IRS — a reference to the agency’s 2012 targeting of tea party groups. It was later found that progressive groups were also targeted, but Republicans have nonetheless used the IRS controversy to cast the Obama administration as authoritarian.

Carson then likened the status quo to Germany under Nazi leader Adolf Hitler, teeing up what he later implied was the choice facing voters in the 2014 midterm elections. Full story at Huffington Post

Test to See If You Might Be Considered a “Potential Terrorist”

Zero Hedge has a nice roundup of what can be considered being a potential terrorist. Since Obama has signed an Executive Order that he can detain U.S. citizens without due process, it is worth a look.  Obama fights injunction against unlawful detainment of Americans. A Judge has ruled in Obama’s favor, and has re-instated it.

There have been so many anti-terrorism laws passed since 9/11 that it is hard to keep up on what kinds of things might get one on a “list” of suspected bad guys.

Zero Hedge prepared this quick checklist so you can see if you might be doing something which might get hassled.

The following actions may get an American citizen living on U.S. soil labeled as a “suspected terrorist” today:

Obama lies-he insisted that detention of Americans be in defense bill

“But… It was his administration that insisted that the language be included in the bill”.

Senator Carl Levin (D-Mich.) told Congress recently that under the original wording of the National Defense Authorization Act, American citizens were excluded from the provision that allowed for detention. Once Obama’s officials saw the text though, says Levin, “the administration asked us to remove the language which says that US citizens and lawful residents would not be subject to this section.”

FCC Commissioner Wants to Test the ‘Public Value’ of Every Broadcast Station

Here it comes…. we knew it was coming…. another Marxist dump on a Friday. It speaks for itself and a real heart thumper. I wonder how NPR will meet the criteria. Juan Williams sure didn’t fair so well. The FCC is schduled to meet December 21. Mark it on your calendars. The shortest day, the longest night. Perfect Holiday gift. Some great clips over at

Hot Air:

Here’s your FCC at work, ensuring that freedom of speech and property rights are defended on America’s airwaves. Just kidding! The Blaze and Naked Emperor News has two clips of FCC commissioners demanding unprecedented authority over prior restraint of speech and seizure of private property in order to satisfy their ideas of — you guessed it — “diversity

This is an abbreviated portion found over at CNS:

American journalism is in “grave peril,” FCC Commissioner Michael Copps says, and to bolster “traditional media,” he said the Federal Communications Commission should conduct a “public value test” of every commercial broadcast station at relicensing time.

In a speech at the Columbia University School of Journalism in New York on Thursday, Copps also said station relicensing should happen every four years instead of the current eight.

“If a station passes the Public Value Test, it of course keeps the license it has earned to use the people’s airwaves,” Copps said. “If not, it goes on probation for a year, renewable for an additional year if it demonstrates measurable progress. If the station fails again, give the license to someone who will use it to serve the public interest.”

Ever since Barack Obama became president, prominent conservatives have warned about liberal efforts to squelch conservative and Christian talk-radio.

Although Copps has said the FCC will not reinstate the Fairness Doctrine, his prescription for “testing” commercial broadcast stations (see below) will alarm defenders of free speech and free enterprise.

According to Copps, the FCC’s Public Value Test would include seven areas — and most of the following text is taken verbatim from his speech:

Meaningful Commitments to News and Public Affairs Programming.  Copps said stations meeting certain benchmarks of progress would qualify for “expedited handling of their license renewals.” He said he hopes the FCC will “put the brakes” on cross-ownership of newspapers and broadcast stations.

Enhanced Disclosure. Requiring information about what programs a station airs allows viewers to judge whether their local station should be subsidized with free spectrum privileges, Copps said. It opens a window on a station’s performance.

Political Advertising Disclosure. …  But we the people have a right to know who is bank-rolling these ads beyond some wholly uninformative and vapidly-named group that appears on the bottom of the screen to mask the special interests it really represents.   I propose that the FCC quickly determine the extent of its current authority to compel release of what interests are paying for this flood of anonymous political advertising — and if we lack the tools we need to compel disclosure, let’s go ask for them.

Reflecting Diversity.  Copps noted that people of color own only about 3.6% of full-power commercial television stations. But he also said diversity encompasses how groups are depicted in the media — too often stereotyped and caricatured, he said — and what roles minorities and women have in owning and managing media companies.  The FCC’s Diversity Advisory Committee has spent years providing us with specific, targeted recommendations to correct this injustice., Copps said. “How sad it is that most of these recommendations have not been put to a Commission vote. It is time to right this awful wrong.”

Community Discovery.    Diversity of programming suffers, minorities are ignored, and local self-expression becomes the exception.  Here’s some good news: Community Discovery would not be difficult to do in this Internet age, when technology can so easily facilitate dialogue.

Local and Independent Programming.  According to Copps, the goal is more localism in our program diet, more local news and information, and a lot less streamed-in homogenization and monotonous nationalized music at the expense of local and regional talent.  Homogenized music and entertainment from huge conglomerates constrains creativity, suppresses local talent, and detracts from the great tapestry of our nation’s cultural diversity.  We should be working toward a solution wherein a certain percentage of prime-time programming—I have suggested 25 percent—is locally or independently-produced.  Public Service Announcements should also be more localized and more of them aired in prime-time, too.  And PEG channels—public, educational and government programming—deserve first-class treatment if we are to have a first class media.

Public Safety.   Stations, like government, have a solemn duty to protect the safety of the people.  “These few criteria for a Public Value Test are neither excessive nor onerous,’ Copps said in his speech.

“But they would get us back to the original licensing bargain between broadcasters and the people: in return for free use of airwaves that belong exclusively to the people, licensees agree to serve the public interest as good stewards of a precious national resource As the old question goes:  If not now, when?  If not us, who?”

Copps said the FCC and Congress in the future will need to examine the rules governing the structure of media ownership. And he advocated increasing support for public broadcasting, which he described as “the jewel of our media landscape.” More at CNS News

Code Pink Pinked Out Over Karl Rove

Code Pink not so happy with Karl? Well, Freedom of Speech is not so Free anymore for the Pinko’s

Where were the rights of those attending for freedom of assembly, to hear Rove exercise his freedom of speech?  This was a private event where people paid not to hear what the protestors had to say, but to hear what Rove had to say.  The goal of these leftist protestors then and now is certainly not to engage in dialogue, but to disrupt events and ruin it for those who dare to disagree with them.

My feelings are best summarized by Karl Rove who stated this right before he left, “This goes to show the totalitarianism of the left.  They don’t believe in dialogue.  They don’t believe in courtesy.  They don’t believe in 1st Amendment rights for anybody but themselves.”

Clinton plotting covert attack on Tea Party leaders

Good reason not to have “leaders”. Clinton could not come up with anything more evil than the Chicago Thugery.

Big Government is reporting that a conference call has taken place between Bill Clinton, James Carville and other notorious Clinton attack machine professionals aimed at coordinating a vicious national smear campaign against individual Tea Party leaders.

Big Government:

Democrats are facing political annihilation this November. Not only do Democrats face the possibility of losing their congressional majorities, massive losses in state house races could jeopardize redistricting next year and set back the progressive agenda for at least a decade.

So, the Clinton Empire is planning to strike back.

Big Government has learned that Clintonistas are plotting a “push/pull” strategy. They plan to identify 7-8 national figures active in the tea party movement and engage in deep opposition research on them. If possible, they will identify one or two they can perhaps ‘turn’, either with money or threats, to create a mole in the movement. The others will be subjected to a full-on smear campaign.

And of course, as per the standard leftist protocol, Clinton has already begun setting the stage to play the victim while simultaneously launching this tyrannical war on dissent. One can spot the beginnings of the strategy in the way Clinton defended Martha Coakely against Tea Partiers in January:

There is a mass national effort to discourage progressive independents from voting and to discourage disappointed liberals from voting.

Invent a phony vast right-wing conspiracy against Democrats while conspiring to brow-beat regular Americans into silence with threats, intimidation and personal attacks…all for daring to speak out. This is straight out of Saul Alinsky. Ann Coulter wrote an entire book about this tactic. It’s how liberals avoid looking like thugs and bullies while destroying people who get in the way of Democrat power.

This is the central theme of my book. Liberals cannot win on a level playing field. It is only through relentless scams, misinformation and egregious abuses of power that they remain relevant.
