De Blasio tells wife Chirlane decide fate of NYC statues of Washington, Jefferson

 

This should work out. Recall just last year Chirlane was determining the look of the city with new statutes. See, they wanted to “equalize” the number of male statutes. Last year the sex of the statute was at issue. This year we have moved on. Anything to destroy our culture. I will include a bit of last years post:

First lady Chirlane McCray will put statues and structures honoring historic figures tainted by slavery — including George Washington and Thomas Jefferson — under the microscope as part of a new “Commission on Racial Justice and Reconciliation,” Mayor Bill de Blasio announced Friday.

Hizzoner’s move comes a day after five city lawmakers — including City Council Speaker Corey Johnson — sent a letter requesting the statue of Jefferson be removed from the council’s chamber, as leaders across the city and nation struggle to respond to weeks of protests over racism that followed the death of George Floyd….

De Blasio said that would include examining City Hall’s statue of Washington and the name of the mayoral residence, Gracie Mansion, which was built and owned by a slave owner, Archibald Gracie.

When pressed by reporters, de Blasio acknowledged he was not sure how far the review should go, but said it was time to examine the “profound contradictions” of the city and nation’s forefathers. More at  New York Post

The real heroines for de Blasio’s wife are drag queens and abortion rights activists. How many tax payer bucks are going to supposedly ‘equalize’ the number of male statues to female statues in the city? Francesca Xavier Cabrini and other female icons were denied honorary statues after a group controlled by First Lady Chirlane McCray tossed out the revered Catholic sister in favor of more women of color and a drag queen-turned-LGBTQ activist.

Cabrini was America’s first saint, a tireless advocate who founded an upstate orphanage, a school for girls in Washington Heights and 67 organizations for the needy in the late 1880s.
But she wasn’t good enough to be named one of New York’s seven most important women.

This despite Cabrini getting the most votes in a poll of New Yorkers on who should be included.

Also denied were poll leaders Emily Warren Roebling, who led the completion of the Brooklyn Bridge, and Manhattan Music School founder Janet Schenck. Instead, they selected abortion rights activist Dr. Helen Rodriguez Trías and drag queens Sylvia Rivera and Marsha P. Johnson, among others, making clear what their criteria were.

Everything swell in the swamp. A-OK.

First NYC gums up the traffic system deliberately a few years ago. Supported by the Obama administration. Not enough pain New Yorkers? Here comes the double whammy. Going to cost you $10 bucks or so to drive into Manhattan. How is all that Progressive stuff working out for you New Yorkers? But anyone paying attention saw this coming.

If you had any thought that the Progressives were absolutely evil, this should be your confirmation. Back in 2010 we heard what Lahood with the Department of Transportation had in mind for us nationally. Bloomberg and de blasio no doubt got big bucks for New York City in turning the traffic into chaos.

LaHood signed the new policy directive on March 11. “This is the end of favoring motorized transportation at the expense of non-motorized.”

On May 21, LaHood told reporters at the National Press Club that the “Partnership for Sustainable Communities’ his department had formed with the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Housing—sometimes known as the “livability initiative”–was designed to “coerce” people out of their cars.

Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood has announced that federal transportation policies will no longer favor “motorized” transportation, such as cars and trucks, over “non-motorized” transportation, such as walking and bicycling. he effusively described it as a “sea change” for the United States. Get out your sail.

Time for some traffic problems in Manhattan!  December 2016

City officials have intentionally ground Midtown to a halt with the hidden purpose of making drivers so miserable that they leave their cars at home and turn to mass transit or bicycles, high-level sources told The Post.

Today’s gridlock is the result of an effort by the Bloomberg and de Blasio administrations over more than a decade of redesigning streets and ramping up police efforts, the sources said.

“The traffic is being engineered,” a former top NYPD official told The Post, explaining a long-term plan that began under Mayor Mike Bloomberg and hasn’t slowed with Mayor de Blasio.

“The city streets are being engineered to create traffic congestion, to slow traffic down, to favor bikers and pedestrians,” the former official said.

“There’s a reduction in capacity through the introduction of bike lanes and streets and lanes being closed down.”

The goal of the jammed traffic is to shift as many drivers as possible to public transit or bicycles.

Starting in 2021, drivers will be charged approximately $10 for driving into parts of Manhattan as part of the state’s new budget deal; Laura Ingle has the details.

NYC thinking about amnesty for one Million open warrants

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Police Commissioner Bill Bratton is behind a controversial proposal to grant amnesty to more than 1 million people with open warrants for low-level offenses.

But some experts worry it could cause crime to skyrocket.

First he called for reduced penalties for smoking marijuana. Now, Bratton wants to explore granting amnesty to 1.2 million city residents with open warrants for low-level offenses, people who run the risk of being arrested for failing to resolve tickets for drinking in public, disorderly conduct and the like, CBS2’s Marcia Kramer reported Monday.

There is one statistic that shows the magnitude of the problem. Last year, of the hundreds of thousands of tickets that were given out for low-level offenses, fully 40 percent of the people either skipped the proceedings or didn’t show up, Kramer reported.
