WH: ISIL A TERRORIST GROUP, BUT TALIBAN IS AN ‘ARMED INSURGENCY’

Just in case there is any confusion as to who is who and what is what, we have this clip from the latest presser with the new mouthpiece by the name of Schultz. Anyone want to bet he will be put in mothballs? No wait, this is the Obama policy. Charles Krauthammer gives us his rebuttal.

“The Taliban is an armed insurgency,” began Schultz. “ISIL is a terrorist group. We don’t make concessions to terrorist groups.”

“You don’t think the Taliban is a terrorist group?” ABC’s Jonathan Karl asked.

“I don’t think that the Taliban… the Taliban is an armed insurgency,” Schultz continued haltingly, pointing out that the United States negotiated Berghdal’s release during the “winding down” of the war in Afghanistan.

Schultz reiterated that the prisoner swap with the Taliban was an “end of conflict” action in support of the president’s commitment to “leave no man/woman behind.”

Then we have Charles Krauthammer’s reaction to this absurdity- short version

Published on Jan 28, 2015

Charles Krauthammer on Fox News’ ‘Special Report’: It slits throats. It attacks buses. It drives car bombs into markets and it isn’t a terrorist organization. Look, you can’t parody this administration. The idea that the United States would not do this is preposterous. Of course we do. And also, the idea that the war is winding down, tell that to anybody who lives in Afghanistan.

This is a fantasy. Obama pretending that the war on terror, the war in Afghanistan, the war in Iraq are all winding down, and the wars are all back. I mean, this is sort of embarrassing.

McConnell ‘Burst into laughter’ over Tim Geithner’s Obama Plan

While the more optimistic think Obama will want to come to sort of agreement rather than go over the “fiscal cliff”, others of us are less optimistic, and apparently McConnell is one, Those that think that Obama is concerned about his legacy and will want to turn the corner and try to save our country from bankruptcy are in for a surprise. There is nothing in his background, nor his minions he has marching to who knows whose orders, that would indicate it. To take down a super power what could be more grand. His anit-colonialist feelings are well-known. The more optimistic of us believe he can not achieve it during his tenure, and we shall rise again into fiscal sanity. Here we go:

Mitch McConnell, the Senate Republican leader, says he “burst into laughter” Thursday when Treasury Secretary Tim Geithner outlined the administration proposal for averting the fiscal cliff. He wasn’t trying to embarrass Geithner, McConnell says, only responding candidly to his one-sided plan, explicit on tax increases, vague on spending cuts.

Charles Krauthammer on Obama’s ‘Insulting’ Fiscal Cliff Offer: ‘Republicans Ought to Simply Walk Away’

Geithner suggested $1.6 trillion in tax increases, McConnell says, but showed “minimal or no interest” in spending cuts. When congressional leaders went to the White House three days after the election, Obama talked of possible curbs on the explosive growth of food stamps and Social Security disability payments. But since Geithner didn’t mention them, those reductions appear to be off the table now, McConnell says.

Besides raising taxes, Geithner was reported to have proposed a one-year delay in scheduled $1.2 trillion spending cuts to defense and domestic, and a $400 billion reduction in Medicare funding. The $1.2 trillion in cuts was mandated after Congress failed to reach an agreement in 2011 on reductions. From The Weekly Standard

Petraeus blackmailed to toe the party line? Agrees to testify

The question is will the truth of the story of Benghazi and what happened come out or will the media remain focused on the Paula aspect. The Fox news reports this morning that Petraeus has agreed to testify. We can hope this will be an open hearing so that we will know as well. This may prove to be a gift to us.  Now with renewed focus, perhaps we can find out who knew what and when. At least, this should take out Eric Holder, since the claim is that Obama never knew about the investigation of Petraeus. Does anyone really believe that Holder never told him? The clowns continue dance away don’t they? I hope America is happy about the November surprise that should have come in October.

Via Newsbusters:

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: I think the really shocking news today was that General Petraeus thought and hoped he could keep his job. He thought that it might and it would be kept secret, and that he could stay in his position. I think what that tells us is really important. It meant that he understood that the FBI obviously knew what was going on. He was hoping that those administration officials would not disclose what had happened, and therefore hoping that he would keep his job. And that meant that he understood that his job, his reputation, his legacy, his whole celebrated life was in the hands of the administration, and he expected they would protect him by keeping it quiet.

And that brings us to the ultimate issue, and that is his testimony on September 13. That’s the thing that connects the two scandals, and that’s the only thing that makes the sex scandal relevant. Otherwise it would be an exercise in sensationalism and voyeurism and nothing else. The reason it’s important is here’s a man who knows the administration holds his fate in its hands, and he gives testimony completely at variance with what the Secretary of Defense had said the day before, at variance with what he’d heard from his station chief in Tripoli, and with everything that we had heard. Was he influenced by the fact that he knew his fate was held by people within the administration at that time?

Of course it was being held over Petraeus’s head, and the sword was lowered on Election Day. You don’t have to be a cynic to see that as the ultimate in cynicism. As long as they needed him to give the administration line to quote Bill, everybody was silent. And as soon as the election’s over, as soon as he can be dispensed with, the sword drops and he’s destroyed. I mean, can you imagine what it’s like to be on that pressure and to think it didn’t distort or at least in some way unconsciously influence his testimony? That’s hard to believe.

Obama: “I will turn Algae into Energy”

Apparently, Obama is more “Christian” than we give him credit for. Our Leader thinks that he will soon turn Algae into energy gratis his friends no doubt who will soon get a double load of our money. So the next villain de jour are the nasty energy companies that soon must be controlled. Profits bah humbug, not in Obama’s universe.

Charles Krauthammer responds to President Obama’s suggestion that the U.S. turn to algae for energy production.

“I was impressed by the president’s analysis of this situation where we have no control over the global price of oil,” Charles Krauthammer said. “We’re dependent on oil from unfriendlies. And he says, as we heard, drilling for oil to relieve our dependency is not a solution, it’s not a plan. He said we have to go to clean energy. He talks about something really revolutionary today. Algae. A $14 million grant for the development of algae. It’s not oil. His solution is algae. And because we know that the Secretary of Energy is physicist that won the Nobel Prize, the president knowing this stuff said that one of the reasons we should do this is because we can grow algae here in the United States.”

“Now, it happens that algae will grow on anywhere on earth. I looked it up while I was away for those three days. You thought I was sunning myself. I did research. It grows in oceans, in lakes and ponds, in your swimming pool when the pool man is on vacation. In snow, in ice, on soil, on turtles, on sloths, the bark of trees and rocks. Why are we drilling for oil? We are the Saudi Arabia of rocks. We have a mountain range called the Rockies and we are allowing ourselves to be dominated by these oil producers. I think he’s on to something here that is truly revolutionary. Why would you build a pipeline, the Keystone pipeline with real oil from Canada to put in real refineries and put in real existing cars when you can do algae? I think he is on to something. And I think this shows the vision, the hope and change he promised in 2008.”

“Tongue out of cheek,” host Bret Baier joked.

“I’m sorry that I brought the level of discussion so low,” Krauthammer joked back.
