Lois Lerner fights release of her deposition, says “exceedingly low public interest”

Who could forget?

Who knew that this old horse was still kicking around? So we learn that Lois Lerner of IRS fame, has her deposition up for grabs in federal court. Yes, I for one want to see her deposition. I might also add as well, why hasn’t Sessions taken another look-see and tried to figure out if they could nail her? Let’s get her depo out in the fresh air and sunshine. I would love to know who is fronting her legal bill:

Former IRS senior executive Lois G. Lerner told a federal court last week that there’s “no legitimate” reason why the public should see her testimony about her role in tea party targeting, pleading with a judge to keep her deposition permanently sealed. Ms. Lerner and her former chief lieutenant, Holly Paz, have said they faced death threats in the past, and say they fear any more attention to their behavior would spur a new round of harassment. They said there’s “exceedingly low” public interest in having their depositions released, and they said tea party groups are pushing for disclosure out of “spite.”

“The public disclosure of this personal and sensitive information and details of the harassment would further no legitimate end while undermining substantial privacy and physical safety interests,” the women said in briefs filed by their lawyers.

The IRS has reached settlements with hundreds of tea party groups and the government admitted it bungled its handling of their nonprofit status applications during the Obama administration. The government, in one of the settlements, even singled out Ms. Lerner for specific criticism, saying she failed to stop the targeting and even hid it from her supervisors.

But Ms. Lerner’s own defense of her actions, as well as Ms. Paz’s testimony, remain secret, with the transcripts of their depositions sealed and all references to the information from those depositions redacted from other documents.

Ms. Lerner and Ms. Paz also have not revealed much about the threats they said they faced, other than to cite “graphic, profane and disturbing language.”

The one specific instance of a threat they have cited in public documents was a June 2013 speech by Mark Meckler, a tea party leader who had helped drive the class action lawsuit against the IRS.

In that speech — just weeks after Ms. Lerner revealed the IRS’s illegal behavior — Mr. Meckler said tea party advocates could “have a lot of fun abusing these government employees.”

Ms. Lerner’s lawyer didn’t respond to requests from The Washington Times for more details on the threats.

Mr. Meckler told The Times that if Ms. Lerner manages to keep her deposition sealed it would “set an outrageous legal precedent, allowing the testimony of egregious acts by public servants to be permanently hidden.”

“The irony of this argument is astounding. The government has admitted that these people unconstitutionally targeted people based on their political beliefs. Now the individuals most responsible for the targeting wish to finish off their secret scheme to illegally target their fellow citizens, in secrecy,” he said.

He said when Ms. Lerner accuses him of fomenting threats, it’s a continuation of the targeting she oversaw while at the IRS, and said the Obama administration repeatedly tried to force Mr. Meckler to give up the legal challenge.

“It is time to blow this scandal wide open, and the unsealing of the Lois Lerner and Holly Paz depositions would be a good first step,” he said.

Some of the two women’s information is public, including emails sent and received during the targeting.

But what that information shows has been heatedly debated.

The Justice Department under President Barack Obama cleared Ms. Lerner of any wrongdoing and even praised her for stopping the targeting when she learned of it. Under President Trump, the same department agreed to settlements admitting illegal behavior by the IRS, and blaming Ms. Lerner in particular. More at the Washington Times

Navy SEALS ordered to remove Navy Jack patch from uniforms

Of course we know why they are doing this don’t we? Anyone who might stand in the way of this regime is a danger to it. Even a hint of a reminder. I find it particularly offensive when this regime goes after those who are willing to go to the front lines and give their blood for our country.  Why is the flag being removed?  “The Jack is too closely associated with radical groups.” We must assume that  this thought policeman embedded in the SEAL community is speaking of the Tea  Party, whose flag (which also dates from the American Revolution) depicts a  snake with the same defiant slogan as The Navy Jack. Recall this earlier post: We know of the indoctrination at our Academies:

West Point Think Tank warns of dangerous “Conservatives”

The report issued this week by the Combating Terrorism Center at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., is titled “Challengers from the Sidelines: Understanding America’s Violent Far-Right.” And just who are these “Violent Far-Right” folks?

It says anti-federalists “espouse strong convictions regarding the federal government, believing it to be corrupt and tyrannical, with a natural tendency to intrude on individuals’ civil and constitutional rights. Finally, they support civil activism, individual freedoms, and self-government. Extremists in the anti-federalist movement direct most their violence against the federal government and its proxies in law enforcement.”

The report also draws a link between the mainstream conservative movement and the violent “far right,” and describes liberals as “future oriented” and conservatives as living in the past.

“The far right represents a more extreme version of conservatism, as its political vision is usually justified by the aspiration to restore or preserve values and practices that are part of the idealized historical heritage of the nation or ethnic community.”

The Navy Jack is the ‘don’t tread on me’  flag, one that has earned a revered place in America’s naval history and a  beloved place in sailor’s hearts, through its use for over two centuries. This  symbol of America’s naval ferocity has spanned our country’s entire existence,  flying from the masts of the Continental Navy during the war of independence, to  today’s War on Terror. In fact, an amendment to the Navy code called SECNAV Instruction 10520.6 clearly  states that as of 31 May 2002 all ships are to fly the flag throughout the  duration of the War on Terror.

So why would ranking SEAL commanders ban the historical symbol? Is the  proverbial top bass banning the flag? Is President Obama?

Clearly the administration and sycophant “top brass” officers have degraded  America’s military prestige; from hand-tying rules of engagement, to uniform  regulations that make our military allegedly more compatible with foreign  forces, to the banning of an awe-inspiring flag that traces its roots to the  first U.S. Navy. We have a civilian-led military, but why should our ranking  commanders be complicit in the administration’s war on it? Why don’t they stand  up to Obama and his leftist cronies?

When a friend of mine asked his leadership the same question, he was told,  “The Jack is too closely associated with radical groups.” We must assume that  this thought policeman embedded in the SEAL community is speaking of the Tea  Party, whose flag (which also dates from the American Revolution) depicts a  snake with the same defiant slogan as The Navy Jack.

This begs yet another question: Who defines “radical group”? The last time I  checked, all military personnel are under oath to “support and  defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic.” The Tea  Party stands for constitutional rights and founding principles of civil  liberties and limited government. Radical? Not unless you’re a leftist hell-bent  on destroying the foundations of our country. Or as the President has stated as  the objective of his presidency, “to fundamentally transform” America.

Conservative Group Launches Campaign To ‘Depose’ Boehner From Speakership’

Sure sounds like a great idea to me. Anyone else game for the idea? All it will take is 16 votes, and I know there are four already that are in the bag. Time to give the old boys a lesson and put a spring back in our step. Here we go:

Conservative Group Launches Campaign To ‘Depose’ Boehner From Speakership – Daily Caller

The backlash against Speaker of the House John Boehner’s removal of several conservative members of Congress from committees continued Wednesday, with one conservative group calling for Republicans to “depose” Boehner from his speakership.

American Majority Action (AMA) is launching a #FireBoehner campaign. If 16 members of the Republican Party abstain from voting for Boehner as speaker in January, he will be one vote shy of the 218 necessary to confirm his speakership.

“Speaker Boehner has been an abysmal failure as speaker, and his latest purge is the nail in the coffin for conservatives,” said Ned Ryun, president and CEO of AMA. “Boehner has never won a negotiation [sic] battle with the White House or Senate – and he’s been nothing short of an embarrassing spokesman for the conservative movement. It’s time for him to go.”

The recent anger stems in large part from the removal of Reps. David Schweikert, Justin Amash and Tim Huelskamp from their spots on committees. Boehner has said it was an issue of loyalty, Buzzfeed reported, but conservatives have labeled it a purge of more conservative and libertarian elements of the party.

“We only need 16 votes to get conservatives on the path to actually reducing our $16 trillion debt,” AMA Virginia Director Matt Robbins said. “If conservatives want to tackle our biggest challenges, we need competent leaders – and frankly – new leaders.”

Ron Meyer, press secretary for AMA, said that the group likes Rep. Jim Jordan of Ohio, the outgoing chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, to replace Boehner, though he noted that “there aren’t enough votes to elect someone new – yet.”

But removing him from the speakership, Myer said, is “doable for sure.”

A Boehner spokesman did not respond to request for comment.

Patriot Groups marked as Hate Groups by Southern Poverty Law Center

Southern Povert Law Center  has a report onThe Patriot Movement and how they inspire Hate Groups and Militias. If you feel so inclined you can read the full report here. I am sure Eric Holder will be more than happy to have the FBI check them out. Of course, after they get done with the NYPD for sliding over into NJ and checking out the Muslims. If this riles you up, you may want to check out Conservative on fire’s post  I am a right wing radical and proud of it

This is the full list of Patriot Groups as compiled by the SPLC. Note that they are listed by state so some are listed multiple times. Like Oath Keepers.

The Southern Poverty Law Center identified 1274 anti-government “Patriot” groups that were active in 2011. Of these groups, 334 were militias, marked with an asterisk, and the remainder includes “common-law” courts, publishers, ministries and citizens’ groups.

Generally, Patriot groups define themselves as opposed to the “New World Order,” engage in groundless conspiracy theorizing, or advocate or adhere to extreme antigovernment doctrines. Listing here does not imply that the groups themselves advocate or engage in violence or other criminal activities, or are racist.

H/T: goes to Infidel Bloggers Alliance for this find, which ia a great site, and has more. You do need to scroll down a bit on their home page

Oath Keepers? Really? A group dedicated to upholding the Oath they took to support and defend America is a potential threat?

If you belong to or support any of these groups you are considered a possible threat to the republic and bear more scrutiny than someone like Jeremiah Wright or Derrick Bell.  Full list here: Southern Povert Law Center

Glenn Beck: ‘Tea Party folks supporting Gingrich racists’?

Doug Powers has a take down on Beck who stopped by Judge Napolitano. I found it as offensive/disturbing  myself. Glenn, your 30 days of fame are running out. So you won’t vote for Gingrich? Bye Bye Glenn. You are getting yourself a bit too puffed up for me. Source and more: Mediaite

So, what’s your take on this?

“If you have a big government progressive, or a big government progressive in Obama… ask yourself this, Tea Party: is it about Obama’s race? Because that’s what it appears to be to me. If you’re against him but you’re for this guy [Gingrich], it must be about race. I mean, what else is it? It’s the policies that matter.”

Beck should be careful… if he’s going to assume a Tea Partier who might end up pulling the lever for “big government progressive” Gingrich over “big government progressive” Obama is doing so purely for racial reasons, then said Tea Partier might return the favor and assume that Beck’s playing of the race card against the Tea Party means he’s decided to align himself with big government progressives such as Nancy Pelosi, Andre Carson and John Lewis. The “wheel of accusations” goes round and round. He continues:Doug Powers He has the short video clip or slide to about 6:20 below for the rant.

Update: Beck says he’d consider voting Ron Paul in a third party instead of Gingrich as the GOP nominee. The result of course will be an Obama 2nd term. Nice Glenn.

Tea Party Terrorists in Waco, Texas

Waco, Texas, now that sure rings a bell.  That is not the place to put attention upon. It was a location, a town, and a reminder, of all that could go wrong with the Government, and the ATF in particular. Ruby Ridge, Gun Runner, Walker, or whatever you want to call  it. All brought to us by a Government out of control.

H/T:Big Government

From Accuracy in Media’s Ben Johnson:

Have you ever been taken hostage by an 86 year old white haired lady in pink glasses?  I have.  I am lucky to be alive today and writing this after my near death experience with the terrorists of the Tea Party in Waco, TX.  AIM present’s to you, the face of evil in America.

The Tea Party movement is not a militia, it is 55% women, most with children. They are educated and caring Americans that simply want the Constitution returned. They all understand that violence is not acceptable, against others, or against the government. It is also unnecessary. The ballot box will do just fine.

Those on the left, like Clinton, seem to be longing for the violence to come. Perhaps because they realize they are going to lose power without spilling a single drop of blood, and there is nothing they can do about it. At least if they were to incite violence, the government would have a reason to step in and shut down the protests. VA Right

Mrs Clinton grew more and more impatient as the Waco stand-off came to dominate the headlines during the early months of the Clinton administration, said Bell. It was she, according to Bell’s sources, who pressured a reluctant Janet Reno to act.

“Give me a reason not to do this,” Reno is said to have begged aides shortly before orders were issued for the final assault.

Kerry: Media Has “Responsibility” To “Not Give Equal Time” To Tea Party

Gee, he could have been President. We are so annoying. Sorry Mr. Kerry but this is still America, regardless of how much you desire for us to have a European or Socialist model or worse, we are Americans. Here is Mr. Kerry on Morning Joe:

SEN. JOHN KERRY: “And I have to tell you, I say this to you politely. The media in America has a bigger responsibility than it’s exercising today. The media has got to begin to not give equal time or equal balance to an absolutely absurd notion just because somebody asserts it or simply because somebody says something which everybody knows is not factual.”

“It doesn’t deserve the same credit as a legitimate idea about what you do. And the problem is everything is put into this tit-for-tat equal battle and America is losing any sense of what’s real, of who’s accountable, of who is not accountable, of who’s real, who isn’t, who’s serious, who isn’t?”

Frances Fox Piven, Nation Magazine, and Glenn Beck

Frances Fox Piven and her New Globalization Revolution theory..her words, not Glenn Beck’s

The Nation. The magazine that brought us the latest in bringing  Ms Frances Fox Piven to the forefront once again. The article that agitated Glenn Beck, and stoked the flames concerning the Cloward-Piven strategy. I took at look at their recent editorial as well as her article that appears this January. Any threats against her are unacceptable. Of course, the Nation parrots the actions of a few previous bad actors, ties them to the Tea Party and somehow it all comes together. It is not the message, they say, but let us focus on the messenger. At the bottom of the post are several links to her previous statements. Yes,  do click on “Mobilizing the jobless”  from The Nation, as well as their editorial, then you decide.

This fusillade was evidently set off by Piven’s recent Nation editorial calling for a mass movement of the unemployed [“Mobilizing the Jobless,” January 10/17]. But Beck has had Piven in his cross-hairs for some time. In the past few years he’s featured Piven, along with her late husband, Richard Cloward, in at least twenty-eight broadcasts, all of which paint them as masterminds of an overarching left-wing plot called “the Cloward-Piven strategy,” which supposedly engineered the financial crisis of 2008, healthcare reform,Read more: The Nation Editorial

The ‘sane’ people of the left need to be on the lookout for: Dangerous, angry, rich, old white people who will be running around with a Constitution in their hands and probably talking about the second amendment while they are now trying to get it on with your leg or something.

On January 8th MSNBC guests Eugene Robinson and Josh Marshall, along with host Keith Olbermann, soberly assured their viewers that violent, political rhetoric is exclusive to the American right.
