Sunday Respite – Mantovani “Cara Mia”

How about a nostalgic day?  Return to the days of soaring violins. Music was music with the big bands. How well I recall one of my parent’s favorite orchestras and the music that was always playing in the house. Roger Williams, Guy Lombardo. Add some good jazz musicians and that was the daily fare. Life was sweet. Great memories.

Include some beautiful photography and it makes for a great respite.

For some fun and mayhem check out yesterday’s post.

Wishing everyone a wonderful day.

Well that was lovely, and brings back memories of other but equally lovely music that played in our home growing up. Records. I got them from my mother but am one step shy of figuring out how to get my old stereo system working. One day….

They say that records have come back… I finally conceded that I would not get back to them. I also had a very large collection of 78’s from back in the 30’s – as a child my fav was “Me and my shadow” crackling away with the sound. I should have, as well, added a major collection of classical music.

I set up my turntable with a preamp as an input to my computer and transferred a lot of vinyl I had and that my dad left me to MP3s.
What I’ve found is that others have done the same and they are posted online.
I found a version of Peter and the Wolf narrated by Basil Rathbone that I listened to as a child.

I’m glad I never heard the Boris Karloff version as a child. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dD5doPLAxc4
