The president of our apartment association graduated with an MSW from USC many decades ago. She was the first to send around that change of word from field to practicum. Honestly, practicum is more accurate for this situation. But NOT for the reason they changed it. In our profession we “go out in the field” all the time. Touchy, touchy.
