More Than $6.4 Billion In US Pandemic money Sent Abroad, Including China

Money for everyone. Come one come all. The reporter for this info claims it’s “very hard” to track the whole thing. What a surprise.  As had been said before, “what difference does it make.” Better yet the “Non-profits” were the purveyor of the goodies since “they were experienced” in distribution. All hail the NGO’s who are already taking care of our newly minted “immigrants”

The source of all the goodies.

Zero Hedge:

Some 2,000 foreign contractors and nonprofits in 177 countries received more than $6.4 billion in United States’ federal pandemic response assistance between the spring of 2020 and the fall of 2021, according to a report by the U.S. Office of Inspector General’s (OIG) Pandemic Response Accountability Committee (PRAC).

Most of the “prime recipients” are based in the United States and distributed the funds overseas. The $6.4 billion in foreign payments came from two pandemic relief packages passed by Congress in March 2020 and March 2021 totaling $4.1 trillion.

Those prime recipients include federal agencies, including the departments of Defense, Homeland Security and Health & Human Services, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and nonprofits, such as North Carolina-based Family Health International and Boston-based JSI Research & Training Institute.

Collectively between spring 2020 and Sept. 30, 2021, these federal agencies and nonprofits have approved more than 4,000 contracts and issued 1,000 grants from pandemic relief funds to “sub-recipients” across the globe, including foreign contractors that provide services for the U.S. government and international development and health care organizations.

The largest single international prime recipient is the United Nations, which received $831.4 million in direct pandemic funding, according to the report.

About $2.132 billion of the $6.4 billion in internationally distributed U.S. pandemic relief funds was deposited and distributed through banks in Switzerland because many international nonprofits and organizations are headquartered in Geneva.

With the subsequent adoption of additional federal COVID-19 relief and stimulus packages, including the March 2021 American Rescue Plan Act, PRAC’s 22 inspector generals are now tracking more than $5 trillion in federal pandemic allocations and documenting what is reported by “prime recipients” on its webpage that is accessible to the public on the committee’s website.

….

When COVID hit, (the federal government) used a lot of nonprofits” like FHI and JSI because “they were experienced and they had the pipelines in place” to support COVID-19 response in countries “where we’re already working,” she said, providing a fact sheet outlining how FHI allocated pandemic relief money by modifying EpiC in early 2020 to respond to COVID-19 and to bolster health systems to address the pandemic.

According to USASpending, the May 18, 2020 allocation was for U.S. Tactical Supply’s procurement of 5.396 million face masks made in China.

No one in the USA can make masks? Even though we know they don’t meet the U.S. standards?

Utter thievery. However, I’m not surprised by anything anymore. Wow, that’s sad. Think what we could’ve done with all that money . . . but nooooooo, who cares about helping our own, right? *sigh*

So, basically, we’re paying taxes to support the world. Well, why not? 2 million illegals from every country are coming in now and getting free flights to cities across America…. Maybe they just could have stayed home and got our money? Saved themselves a trip?

I shared these thoughts earlier with my friend Layla (Politics Rewritten), and they seem appropriate here, as well. She wrote about the government’s misuse of public funds, particularly about the illegals getting debit cards and access to “our money.”

I wrote: Just thinking about what those town hall meetings may have looked like in 1783. I imagine that they were at least “lively exchanges” of a wide range of opinions with a few fistfights thrown in to give folks something to talk about while examining ears of corn at the farmer’s market. But time changes everything. It’s impossible to have democracy in a nation of 330 or-so-million citizens. We’ve evolved to the point where the government just does what it wants, secure in the knowledge that “we the people” is a myth that hasn’t worked out well (for the people) at any point in our history. At best, we get to cast a ballot every two years, but only within a 12-hour time frame — and that’s about the extent of “by the people.”

As for the issue of tax and spending, there are two perspectives. Some people, we’ll call them taxpayers, believe that it’s THEIR money, and government should act as a good steward of it by spending it wisely, judiciously, for the common good and within the enumerated powers of the federal government. Those taxpayers … comedians, all.

The government has a different perspective. Once taxes are assessed, they become the government’s property — and they will spend it as they see fit. So, “taking” the money isn’t theft, and using it for ludicrous programs isn’t misappropriation. From the government’s point of view, the people ought to just shut the hell up and stop embarrassing themselves by making demands they have no right to make.

Oh, and if anyone needed proof that their taxes belong to the government — try not paying your taxes and see what happens. As for how the government spends that money … it’s none of your business.

    Elections do have consequences.

Our “grand experiment” as the retiring Supreme so aptly commented on the other day… is just that…. and can a balkanized 330 million individuals wish no more for the grand experiment is shall be no more.

The most interesting thing to know would be whether (as with American hospitals) we just put a premium on COVID deaths. Therefore, many motorcycle deaths, shootings, and other deaths got reported as having “died with covid.”

Will we see the same type of exaggerated reporting due to similar programs abroad?

Something stinks here. Has Joe Biden America’s greatest statesman since Al Capone finally taken his head out of his sphincter area or is this going as planned? At the 11th hour Biden is threatening to stop Russia’s pipeline to Western Europe should Putin invade Ukraine. Hmm…
