Cuomo granted immunity to nursing homes after big campaign donations

More dirty dealings in New York by Cuomo. Don’t count on the media covering this little factoid. Truth be told, this is the beginning of the end of nursing homes in America.

We wonder why so many of these facilities are so poorly staffed and the care provided minimal at best? Simply the reimbursement rate for these patients doesn’t cover the cost of care. After the fee for service cleans out the patients bank account the nursing homes are stuck with what the state will give them via medicaid. Needless to say in most states it hasn’t increased as the cost of service continues to rise.

Enter one Andrew Cuomo as the scrutiny begins:

New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, who signed legislation granting hospital and nursing home executives immunity from lawsuits related to the novel coronavirus last month, previously received a big-money boost from a powerful health care industry group, according to a new report.

The Guardian reports that the New York State Democratic Committee, then backing Cuomo’s primary run in 2018, received more than $1 million from the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA) — a lobbying group for hospital systems, some of which own nursing homes.

The donation made the group one of the state party’s largest contributors in that cycle. Three of the hospital association’s top officials separately gave more than $150,000 to Cuomo’s campaign between 2015 and 2018, the outlet reported.

That donation is now drawing scrutiny after Cuomo signed legislation last month that protects executives from lawsuits — just as he is under continued criticism for his March 25 order (since deleted) requiring nursing homes to take in COVID-19 patients.

On May 10, and amid increasing criticism, Cuomo issued a new directive stating that hospitals cannot send patients back to nursing homes in the state unless they tested negative for the virus.

So the push for legislation to change the liability for the homes begin. Once changed say goodbye to care for the elderly. Nursing homes will take the fall.

This is rich.

Cuomo deflects blame for nursing home coronavirus crisis on Trump

Look for new attacks on nursing homes. It is the way the swamp works.

Bonus: Even more disturbing and a story that has received zero coverage:

And this is the man so many people think has done such a great job during this crisis that he should be the next President?! The longer this crisis goes on, the more we learn about this guy and the shine starts to fade. But of course people just want to get Trump out so they ignore all these issues…

VERY few have talked about the DO NOT RESUSCITATE, you are RIGHT. Ya, don’t help heart victims because that doesn’t get any $$$ and it’s not a sexy story.

BY THE WAY: Is it possible that so FEW docs and nurses have come forth after we know they’ve been told WRITE COVID IF YOU AREN’T SURE?

As for Cuomo…I watched nearly EVERY ONE of his pressers when this all started and he was SO CONCERNED ABOUT THE NURSING HOMES……………….oh, the irony, the hypocrisy……..I honestly do believe he’s lost a LOT of NY support because of that. FOX’s Janice Dean herself lost both inlaws and is NOT remaining silent on this.

You are more optimistic than I am as far as NY is concerned. He spins every day and they seem to suck it up… Janice Dean has been right on this… check out her twitter account if you haven’t gotten to it.

…and so…yesterday he also stated, about making an Executive Order proclaming “Masks are cool to wear.” For the record, I was born in Indiana, raised in Florida, lived in Alabama for 20 something years. And for me, there is nothing dumber than these folks who keep voting him and his ilk in. I also want to firmly state that the majority of upstaters/Southern Tier folks DO NOT vote democrat, they always get overridden by the trash in NYC. Yes, I called them trash. I also want to firmly state as a current Southern Tier’er I did NOT vote for him nor will I. HOPEFULLY come Friday we will be entering the Phase 2 and Barbershops, Beauty Salons, Boutiques and so on will reopen. Of course, masks are ordered to be worn. He’s an idot, as is Murphy, Wolf and the other dems. Oh and our area of Steuben County; the tax revenue since April has fallen to 23% and unemployement has risen to 18.5%. I project taxes will rise and so that means a snowball effect; food and utilities will also rise.

Ok, I’m done. That is enough depressing news for one sitting…and I haven’t even touched the stupidity of the masks yet.

well…Bunk…one can’t leave NY for greener pastures until the “Pause” has been lifted, if one leaves, one will be quarantined for 2 weeks. Yep…and the job market isn’t looking good here. So, we are hanging on.

Why people keep voting for him (Cuomo)

      When he’s an “idiot”

And he truly is so is Murphy

Because those who put these “idiots” in office know they can pulled their strings to do their bidding

Gosh, how can I contain my surprise that a Democrat would use a disaster to line his pockets and advance his political campaign? How? (Barely hidden sarcasm bleeding through here).

New Yorkers are always making fun of us southern folk, calling us Georgia or Florida Crackers (which, actually, is a compliment if they only knew what a cracker was), or Alabama red necks and Louisiana swamp creatures. There is no swamp deeper or wider than Tammany Hall politics and no matter how many vipers live in that swamp, New Yorkers can’t seem to get enough. Sure glad I don’t live there …

So Mustang I’ll give you a cute little story short and sweet…

I know a bit about Florida and Georgia having lived in both places

I was repeatedly called a Yankee

      I said no I’m a Mets fan

Not realizing they meant the Civil War but rather baseball ⚾

Hope that brightens up your day 🌞

When joining into the conversation of a culture, it is always central to know the context. That is one of the reasons automated technical writing systems like DITA can produce garbage for manuals.

Nursing homes are often no more than the warehousing of old citizens until they die.
Because family doesn’t have to, they won’t take care of their elderly.
It’s a matter of determining the level of care/standard of living that we are willing to fund as a society.
And we are going for the bare minimum.
Soylent Green is not an option (yet). Covid is.

    Well…just next door

Our very own JackAss Gov Murphy is up to tricks again with a scheme to borrow multi millions of dollars on the backs of NJ (I’ll keep you posted as more information comes in)

NJGOP has filed a lawsuit against Murphy along with all 21 counties for the mom and pop businesses who Murphy refused to allow to open

As usual Gov Murphy is MIA which means he’s up to no good

I just wish the NJ Blacks would stop voting for these DemoKKKrats

Correct HP. Along with the NJEA banditos looking for state handouts while claiming property taxes will fall dramatically it’s business as usual. The Garden Sate has well earned the label The Garbage Sate. Years ago I had considered myself fortunate to grow up in Hudson County where as a kid I could get along just fine speaking only English.
While surfing yesterday i caught a glimpse of the pope of New York pontificating for the umpteenth day, blaming the consequences of his corruption and evil ways on Trump. One thing for sure should he run for another term as governor of The Peoples Republik of New York he is a shoo- in even without the deceased virus victims coming out to vote; surely their loved ones will support him till the environment killing cows come home.
