Representative Gaetz blasts Gowdy, Ryan for not using subpoenas

Gaetz nails Gowdy. On Friday as Hannity was wrapping up with Gaetz, Gaetz lays it on.This right after having Gowdy on with Hannity praising what wonderful questioning of witnesses Gowdy had done. Here is one of the best take downs from the weekend. Gowdy is now the big man on campus and has moved on to make his bucks at Fox. Are we to forget?

Of course Goodlatte and Gowdy moved on.

Two top Republican chairmen stressed Friday that the final report from special counsel Robert Mueller “must be trusted by Americans.”

In closing out their joint committee investigation into decisions made by the Justice Department, Oversight Chairman Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., and Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte, R-Va., took a shot at their Democratic counterparts for playing up concerns that their probe was a campaign to undermine Mueller.

“Contrary to Democrat and media claims, there has been no effort to discredit the work of the Special Counsel,” Gowdy and Goodlatte wrote in a letter to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., acting Attorney General Matthew Whitaker, and the DOJ inspector general. “Quite the opposite, whatever product is produced by the Special Counsel must be trusted by Americans and that requires asking tough but fair questions about investigative techniques both employed and not employed.”

The two retiring Republicans said their committees “have assiduously avoided interfering with any ongoing criminal, counter-intelligence, administrative, or judicial reviews of conduct engaged in 2016 or 2017.”

Other than than this, all is well in the swamp.

So disappointing! Gowdy was one of the ones we thought we could count on and he let us down and then bailed out. Good riddance.

It is not enough as to what they have done or not done, they seem to manage to find a way to resurrect themselves.. it would be interesting to find the details of his crossing over to the dark side.

Bill Bennett has called me his friend.
Paul Ryan interned for him and Jack Kemp.
Bennett knew him and vouched for him so I supported him.
I think Bill is disappointed also.

Now that I know he knew everything and the truth of the matter prior to his later support of the cabal makes it especially painful for me…….which means Trump has few friends indeed.

Ah Holley, yeah some post you wrote recently led me to believe you were close by. i’ve been in these parts since release from active duty (Navy), first lived in “Five Mile Swamp”. Didn’t even know it had that name in ’68. Going through Holley then was a slow-down hook in the road on FL 87. I think it’s been straighten out in the last 20 years, and some body told me its all four lane now.
Live just outside the city limits of Milton now, northwest side, you know the community that before the causeway was built from Pensacola, if one wanted a ticket on the ferry…you said “give me a ticket to Hell.” 🙂

Unless my memory fails me did not Bill Bennett, not too long after publishing his “Book of Virtues”, make news due to his voracious appetite for gambling? In my next life I want to come back as a swamp elite so that I can get away with all kinds of virtuous stupid crap while remaining a hypocrite and independently wealthy.

Yeah, he likes gambling. I don’t gamble, but know people who do, as long as they know their limits and don’t exceed them. That’s a virtue. Bill is a pro-Trump conservative.

Politics has been a brawl since the beginning of this country, where the political elite took advantage of their freedom of speech to attack, demean, or smear their political opponents. More recently, beginning form around the end of the Vietnam War, American politics has become a knife fight. The political elite replaced attacks and slander with gutting and decapitating. Figuratively, of course.

I will have to admit to you that I was very disappointed with Paul Ryan. I wanted him to succeed as Speaker of the House, but there was always a niggle telling me not to expect too much from him; after all, he came from Wisconsin where at least half the population reside left of Minnesota’s Hubert Humphrey. No true conservative can be elected to office in Wisconsin.

Gowdy, on the other hand, was a crushing disappointment. His no-nonsense approach to uncovering corruption, lies, and treasonous behavior at the top of our political structure motivated me and gave me hope that we could once more right the good ship of state. My mistake was the assumption that there is any real difference between the political right and left. There isn’t.

With Gowdy, I thought, “Now here is a man who understands what America once was and shares my view about returning to a time when we Americans were not ashamed of who we were, are, and can be in the future. Here is a former prosecutor that wants to restore honesty in government, who is serious about such matters as integrity, a higher standard among our leaders, who will hold the corrupt accountable and restore a sense of justice to the American system.”

I was just being foolish. Gowdy is a member of a club that operates based on quid pro quo. They may dismantle one another on the public stage and in front of media cameras, but they wear the same emblazoned sports coats, have their own secret handshakes, and always try to maintain their status as part of the political elite. One will notice, for example, that those members of the House and Senate who ended up going to jail … it wasn’t because of anything their fellow club members did to send them there; it was always the result of political machines back home, the politically elected prosecutors who desperately want to become part of that club someday.

Gowdy is a member of that Club in the same way that Hillary Clinton is a club member. They may cut each other on the stage of political kabuki, but ultimately, they are looking after each other’s long-term interests. For these people, the interests of the United States have always been secondary to their own self-interests. Matt Gaetz is my representative in Congress, but thanks to the history of politics in America, I am wary of him. He, too, is a member of the Club.

I too get a “niggle” or give one now. Attended a breakfast brunch fundraiser for who later became Morning Joe. Then his mother and grandmother accompanied him. Forget if I gave him a donation. Probably did, but not much, nor any since.

Ask forgiveness. He was following Democrat Earl Hutto, who was retiring and always was leaning toward voting against NAFTA (he said but did vote for), and running against the Democrat contestant “Vinnie” who beat out “Lois” who said “We’re all world citizens now.”
Just mentioning Vinnie and Lois now without last names as there are lots of folks with those first names. Don’t want a liable suit.
But anyway, that’s who are against us deplorables everywhere, and want to drain us from the sovereign America so it ain’t sovereign anymore , and replenish from wherever over the border.
Dang, I said it all. 🙂
