Quiz: Can You Pass Geography 101? Take a chance!

Here is something for a laid back holiday Friday. Many of us are enjoying our extended weekend. So let’s take a ride around the globe and check out our smarts on what is located where.. Have fun… let me know how you did..  🙂

Let’s be honest: Geography is not Americans’ biggest strength. We struggle to identify the states located in that wide space between California and New York, so world geography is even more challenging.

Do you know the name of the highest mountain in the world? How many oceans are there? How man continents are there?

Which country has the longest coastline in the world? What scale is used to measure earthquakes? Do you think Alaska or Hawaii is the U.S. state with the most active volcanoes? Which country has more pyramids: Egypt or Sudan? What river runs through the Grand Canyon?

How many U.S. states border an ocean? These are just some of the geography challenges you’ll come across in this quiz, along with questions about waterfalls, capital cities, mountain ranges and much more.

You probably can’t pass this geography quiz… or can you? Show that you know your way around this big blue planet that we call home.

Best joke I’ve seen today is that the California earthquake along the San Andreas Fault is now renamed Trump’s Fault..

Funny, the only one I figured out helped were the time zone… I missed the Lake Michigan one, my bad for sure considering I have travelled around the whole area…got a few good guesses.. But at least we worked the brain machine… 🙂

  7. Bill H Says:

More than half the questions have pictures showing the answer. “How many time zones does Canada have?” is accompanied by a picture of Canada with divisions in six different colors. Even without any coffee this morning due to an upcoming cardiac test, I was able to figure out that those were time zones and count all the way up to six.

Good for you! I passed but made a number of errors that I should have thought it through more… I was surprised at Austrailia.

Me too, I got 86% but I read two of the questions wrong. But I also honestly didn’t know a couple of those things, and had forgotten the capital of Switzerland (which I’m sure my Swiss ancestors would be ashamed of). I’m sure all us “old people” – as in over 30 – still did much better in the aggregate than most of the population under 30 however.

I am with you Tin Foil….. Doc says I have to keep using the noggin but I doubt the youngins could handle it as well as we did. I always enjoy these type of quizzes..
