They’re coming for our guns, they’re taking our statutes, now our books

This no less than from the Library Journal, a professional magazine for Librarians. Read the full screed at your peril.

WHITENESS AS COLLECTIONS

Library collections continue to promote and proliferate whiteness with their very existence and the fact that they are physically taking up space in our libraries. They are paid for using money that was usually ill-gotten and at the cost of black and brown lives via the prison industrial complex, the spoils of war, etc.

Libraries filled with mostly white collections indicates that we don’t care about what POC think, we don’t care to hear from POC themselves, we don’t consider POC to be scholars, we don’t think POC are as valuable, knowledgeable, or as important as white people. To return to the Harris quote from above, library collections and spaces have historically kept out Black, Indigenous, People of Color as they were meant to do and continue to do.

One only has to look at the most recent incident at the library of my alma mater, Barnard College, where several security guards tried to kick out a Black Columbia student for being Black.

Think it’s not going to happen?

Our History:

We are already destroying the statues representing our history.

Now we get rid of the history

History Majors at Universities may soon go the way of the Dinosaur

The University of Wisconsin — Stevens Point could soon drop several majors, including history, because of students’ lack of interest, according to a cost-benefit analysis recently proposed by UW-SP Chancellor Bernie Patterson.

The chancellor proposed that the university “must become a new kind of regional university” by adapting its current programming to better suit the surrounding community and the educational demand of incoming students.

And this from my stash of old stuff.

From the 2003 Television docudrama: George Orwell – A Life in Pictures. A reminder from George Orwell.  This is where we are.

This is what happens at the end of the least and great cultures. Always. A fascinating history list of how so many cultures devolved and their libraries.

The Burning of Libraries

In one moment, a mob of barbarians can destroy a country’s history, can erase the work of lifetimes of scholars, can inflict a wound on humanity that it will still be suffering 1,000 years later – long after the religion and philosophy and cause of the barbarians is forgotten.

I slowly see our wonderful Post Falls library changing – and not for the good. Excess books being sold off and a new glass enclosed room (ruining the beautiful architecture of the interior) just for the noisy ignorant teenagers. To be fair, the room was built with a donation that insisted the money be spent for this ridiculous room. My opinion? They should have said no. And don’t get me started on the poor quality of the new fiction available. Terrible crap! Almost every week I take home a huge bag of books only to have the majority of them rejected. Sigh…

Animals so much have it over humans. Animals are born with what they call instincts. A rabbit instantly sees a snake as a threat. Human babies come off the line with Nothing or very little. Remove their history and their education and you can get the little buggers to believe just about any damn thing. It is why the students and faculty at a Christian University in Indiana were Outraged and were Physically Shaking at the prospect at having Mike Pence do their commencement speech.

    This place is *ed.

Point well made Kid…. it is what happens when self awareness evolves…ego…the Garden of Eden lost forever. Of all places, your example of kids shaking in their boots over Pence sums it up.
I read somewhere that over 60 percent of new hires of the Z gen don’t make it past the 90 day probation period at their job.

Thanks. We talked about this today. If we were attending an ultra-Conservative college and an ultra-liberal speaker was scheduled to come do a talk – We either would go party somewhere or we’d show up and laugh for an hour. We certainly would not be outraged, let alone suffer physical symptoms of any kind other than LOL !

        Unreal isn’t it?

X-gens, Millennials, Z-gens – No surprise. It the tattooed and pierced wonders can even make it past the interview process, they sure as heck can’t make it in a non-retail environment that requires them to get along with a wide variety of coworkers, and if in a retail customer environment, they don’t have a chance !

My lunch pals and I are often talking politics as a general subject and the servers we have, if they happen to be ultra-libs or just people with TDS have been able to maintain their composure as I’m sure they hear our conversations. They don’t let on at all their personal politics.

Yea, our company only hires people full time after they’ve gone through the 90 day ‘crucible’ period. God Knows what you’re going to get with people of any age these days. When I was growing up and in fact up to the age of 47, I never was hired on a trial period. I was full time from day 1. I’m 66 now, so 20 years ago. At this stage half the population is mentally retarded !

The best is the medical leave of absence employees have…..intermittent leave which meant that those i supervised could say at 11 am they need to go home and that was that. Six months of that….I was pulling my hair out.

We have a guy in IT who has a Dad and Mom in nursing facility care, both with dementia. He comes and goes as he pleases under FMLA. Basically I think FMLA is a good thing but also realize it is no doubt being abused. Oh well, it’s not like the CEO is going to have to downsize from a 200k Porsche to a Chevy Cruze anytime soon.

I agree FMLA is important…..but try staffing with a couple of these on the books.

I guess we shouldn’t be surprised by this, they are slowly erasing our history so it makes sense they would want to get rid of the books as well and it looks like they are setting the stage.

I was taken aback when I checked out the link at the bottom of the post regarding all of the libraries that have been destroyed over the centuries. For whatever reason, destroying history is apparently a first priority that enrages the conquerers.

Most of my readers know I’m not at ALL fond of TRUMP RHETORIC…matter of fact, I HATE IT… It’s often not true, it can be mean, is almost always demeaning, is too rough for presidential behavior…and now that I’ve got you and YOUR readers totally ticked off at me , let me add this little thought:

I DECIDED LAST NIGHT WATCHING THE NEWS (AND IT REMINDS ME SINCE I TRIED TO READ YOUR EXCELLENT POST WHICH WAS DRIVING MY BP TOO HIGH!!) …

WE ALL NEED TO DO THIS!!!!! WE MUST SPEAK LIKE HIM! THERE IS NO GETTING PAST ALL THESE INSULTS TO OUR HISTORY, TO OUR PEOPLE, TO DECENCY, TO OPEN MINDEDNESS …BUT TO START TALKING LIKE HIM. EVERY REPUBLICAN POLITICIAN (BECAUSE WE’RE NOT HEARD, SO WHAT THE HECK?), EVERY CONSERVATIVE TV PUNDIT, EVERYBODY HAS TO START SAYING THINGS LIKE “ARE YOU CRAZY?” AND “YOU LIVE IN THIS WONDERFUL COUNTRY AND YOU CAN SAY THAAAAT?” AND “WE’RE SICK OF BEING PUSHED BACK, OF HAVING OUR EXCELLENT BOOKS TAKEN OFF SHELVES, OF BEING SHUT DOWN BECAUSE WE HAVE A DIFFERENT POINT OF VIEW….” “WHO DID YOU SAY IS RACIST? PROVE IT!” “WHO’S PAYING FOR THAT?” AND BE TOUGH. VERY TOUGH. ETC.

Okay, my rant is over. God bless you all (smile!)

I absolutely agree with you, Z … there is no need to rage at people, or demean them, or reduce the conversation to a series of ad hominem attacks; all that is required is to speak directly and have all the correct facts. Bravo, Z.

Z you have taken me aback……..unless one wants to leave it up to the RINO’s which by the way have offered zero support for Trump’s policies, we are on our own… meanwhile we are losing our liberties big time every single day they are slipping further away.

HA! I hope you mean that in a good way 🙂 Yes, we need to have good conservatives like Jordan and a few others also talk like that TO THE RINO’S! Good point. Did you hear that Laguna Beach, CA had to VOTE on whether the American flag ought to be on police cars because 2 people complained? “it’s not nice, it’s a unwelcoming sign because this country’s so rotten” (I paraphrase)….I was simply stunned into silence…which says a LOT 🙂

I agree…. and I have no idea how Librarians became so radical…..Libraries are the dumping ground for the homeless, day care centers, and often dangerous places to visit in the cities. When living in the city I would not go near a bathroom in a library. What a statement about our culture.

Two things are at work here. In the first, America’s school children have been brainwashed from about the second or third grade through high school into believing that white people are bad for America, that we are filled with hate for anyone with a different skin color, that all of our wars were fought because we are racists, and that our whiteness has resulted in the denial of equal outcomes for people of color. By the time these kids get into college, they already know that these things are true—so it doesn’t take long to radicalize them. It’s part of the leftist plan for America and it’s working.

In the second, conservative Americans are not fighting back against this leftist onslaught. Whether these people become librarians, or school teachers (many of them do, which perpetuates the leftist scheme), or political hopefuls doesn’t matter. What matters to the left is that these people are the new brown-shirt soldier who are willing to aggressively confront and/or assault anyone wearing a MAGA hat, anyone attending church or synagogue, anyone serving in uniform, and anyone that disagrees with them.

A few weeks ago, some nitwit bride asked a young Marine officer to leave her wedding (he’d been invited) because he dared to wear his dress-blue uniform (one of our finest uniforms) to the ceremony. Doing so insulted her on her “special day.” Being a gentleman, the Marine did leave the wedding. My question is, ‘what the hell?’ Talk about NO class. Leftists hate military people because they are the guardians of our Constitutional Republic.

Ed nailed it … that is exactly what we should do at the university level, but our primary and secondary schools are nests of snakes. What can you do about that? Don’t expect parents with brown or black skin to push back against the leftist rhetoric. Very clever, those communists.
