Maxine Waters: ‘GOP afraid of a strong black woman’

Sunday on MSNBC’s “AM Joy,” Rep. Maxine Waters (D-CA) said the Republican Party was scared of her being the chair of the Financial Services Committee because she is a “strong, black woman.”

When asked about a Republican congressman’s comments saying she would harass President Donald Trump with investigations, Waters said, “That’s the opposition talking about what would happen if this strong, black woman Maxine Waters is the chair of the Financial Services Committee. They’ve never seen anybody like me before.

There’s never been a woman in the history of this country that’s been the chairperson of the Financial Services Committee, and certainly never a black woman. And so they send out these dog whistles to their constituents to get them fired up about the possibility of what Maxine Waters might do.”

Move it up to about 4:50 if you want to avoid her rant on Trump and CA forest fires among other things.

Breitbart

Pelosi Thinks “BUSH” Is President? and Waters Thinks “Putin invaded Korea???

I really am getting tired of this! How about Michelle Obama saying that until she became first lady allot of people didn’t even know what a black woman was?! It really is wearing me out.

    To keep it short:
I agree with Bunkerville. Explanation and rational.
There’s a statement that was made to my retired parents (Mississippians and deceased now) when they bought a travel trailer and attempted to transverse the 57 states, stopping at various travel parks in the ’60’s. “You must be from the other side of the moon.” Yep a statement not a question. Dad sold the travel trailer after that. (Never wanting to or ever hurting even a flea)
My God, there is such division between the divided!
To some commenters…question? Which side of moon you on?
Solution if don’t like the way things going. Father and/or give birth to a baby for your preferred demographic.

I think there is a gulf in difference between being “politically correct,” and mannerly. It is possible to say that Maxine Waters lacks intelligence, appears to harbor racist feelings, or is someone of low character —all of which could be factually supported, without having to comment on the color of her skin or physical features, none of which she has any control over. The “better man” would strive to rise above our base tendency to lash out because of skin color or how we perceive their peculiar culture. It may be hard to do this, particularly if we are very angry. Anger often times makes us somewhat irrational. I blame Obama for most of our social anger today, but I also think that each of us has a role to play in making America a better place. I don’t always succeed, but I do work at becoming a better man.

It’s not about political correctness. It’s about an old stereo type depiction that I think should be retired. Not because it is PC because in my mind it diminishes the power of good arguments against Watters.
I grew up in the days of segregation. It was not good. It was not right. We need to move past the old and be kind.
I handled it badly, and that I regret. A statement that I would prefer these types of comments not be made and to you directly would have been the way to go.

HP I did not shut it down. I did not remove it. I said I would prefer that these remarks not depict something that could be hurtful and a reminder to those that comment here, of old days and old ways.
I said I handled it badly and should have addressed the issue directly. I lived in the South and North through segregation. This was a common inference about Blacks. There are many well educated Blacks who we are dependent on “converting” to a conservative point of view. While we may individually not find any offense personally to what was said, I can assure you that Blacks very much do.
I am only asking to refrain from stereo types,

Considering the salary her daughter draws from a foundation that does nothing more than mail out pay-for-play, election-related newsletters — it seems that Mad Max does not live in a glass house. She lives in a crystal house

Until now, Waters has followed the steps of the Rev. Jackson (who would go to corporations that could not afford to be accused of racism and strongly suggest a donation to keep his associates from protesting). Like the corporations, Trump may be willing to pay some “quiet money;” however, Trump may also may avail himself of a large arsenal at his disposal.

The senate may come back to life regarding investigations. I have been surprised that they appeared not to be interested in doing the heavy lifting and left it to the House who doesn’t have the brightest bulbs. I hope Graham takes over Judiciary.
Add a new AG and we may be off to the races.
      Thanks for stopping by.

It’s hard for me to determine which of these is most corrupt: Mad Max or Nancy Pelosi. Both are hallmarks of the DC swamp.
