Convicted Felon Testifies Against Kavanaugh

Post by Mustang.

Does anyone recall John Dean?  He was former White House Counsel under President Richard M. Nixon and played a key role in the 1973 Watergate scandal.  Now, long after Nixon passed away, Dean likes to tell folks that he warned Mr. Nixon that there was a “cancer” growing on the presidency.

Of course, how can we ever know what he may (or may not) have said to Nixon?  He may have had that conversation in the same way that Senator Blumenthal from Connecticut was a hero from the Vietnam war.  But facts are inconvenient things, and John Dean ended up spending four-months in prison for obstruction of justice.  Yes, only four months.  It must have been the deal of the century for the rat who participated in unlawful behavior and then turned state’s evidence.

In any case, Dean added his two cents to Christine Ford’s three cents during the Senate Judiciary—Brett Kavanaugh hearing.  He is now warning the senate that confirmation of Brett Kavanaugh will lead to a White House takeover of the Supreme Court of the United States (SCOTUS).  We’ll examine this testimony in a moment, but first let’s take a look at Dean after serving four (4) months in prison in 1973.

Shortly after serving in prison for his role in Watergate, Dean became an investment banker, an author, and a lecturer.  There is serious money to be made on the lecture circuit; if you don’t believe me, just ask Billy Clinton.  In his books and lectures, Dean chronicles his experiences in the White House.  In 1976 he wrote a book titled Blind Ambition (actually written by someone else), and this was made into a TV mini-series in 1979.  So, life was good for Dean after becoming a felon.  Oh, Martin Sheen played the part of Dean in the series.  Of course.

Mr. Dean, in appearing before the committee, warned the senate that conservatives have constructed a court that is overly deferential to executive power, particularly since Republicans control both the House and Senate.  Dean said, “Under Judge Kavanaugh’s recommendation, if a president shot someone in cold blood on Fifth Avenue, that president could not be prosecuted while in office.”

Yes, he said that.  It is at this point that one begins to wonder how Dean became White House Counsel in the first place —or how he ever got to appear in front of such a powerful committee.  Crikey!  But GOP Senator John Kennedy (R-LA) did push back when he told Dean, “I think you and your co-conspirators hurt my country,” and then noting that Dean ultimately did the right thing after Watergate, added, “you only did it when you were cornered like a rat, and it’s hard for me to take your testimony seriously.”

Well okay, there is plenty of room in this country for divergent views, but I think Dean is seriously off track.  He seems to overlook the fact that if the Senate and House are in the hands of the GOP, it is only by the will of the people.  If the President of the United States is a Republican, it is by the will of the people.

And if a Republican president nominates justices to the SCOTUS who view their role as interpreting the Constitution (as opposed to legislating), then it too must be —by extension— the will of the people.  I guess what stymies me with Dean and others is that how does a well-educated man get to be obtuse when it comes to fundamental American civics?

Whether the SCOTUS is gaining too much power, or relinquishing its power to the presidency, is a matter of debate.  Senator Ben Sasse was recently eloquent when he argued that the US Congress have become lazy and ineffective, too willingly sending to the court matters that are actually the responsibility of the legislature.  Apparently, SCOTUS nominee Kavanaugh agrees: his role, he said, is not political—it’s judicial.

Democrats think the US government should take over everything … including health care.  In evaluating Kavanaugh, Democrats assembled a slate of witnesses who argued about the impact Kavanaugh would have on such “hot-button” issues as voting rights, access to abortion, and gun control.  Ah, the Democrats.  What a bunch of clowns.

One might recall when Democrats controlled both houses of congress and the presidency, they passed Obama-Care in the middle of the night and sent it straightaway to the president for his signature.  No one in Congress read the measure before it was signed into law, and “We the People” were unaware that the law was less of a health care measure than it was a massive tax.  (Side note: If there was any justice inside the beltway, every member of Congress would be forced into the kind of health care system employed in the United Kingdom).

In spite of what John Dean thinks, the American Bar Association offers Judge Kavanaugh high ratings.  A consensus of his peers, involving 120 interviews and contacts with 500 people, rates Kavanaugh as “well qualified” for the SCOTUS.

Once more speaking about how the Congress doesn’t want to do its job, or the manner in which it passes off its own responsibility to others, how well does it sit with you that Democratic members of the Senate Judiciary Committee have relied on the testimony of a dangerously psychotic/delusional female and a convicted felon to help them decide whether or not to support the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.  That isn’t all … they also invited a 13-year old child who suffers with asthma who warned the senators that Kavanaugh wasn’t friends with the environment.

Gad … we must be living in interesting times.

I watched most all 20+ hours of the hearings. I worked for a psychiatric co-op (several doctors in one office complex)…I think she’s pyscho & disillusioned. She may have been MOLESTED but not sexually assaulted!! And the disillusuon part is at 15…B K was her fantasy. That’s my opinion from her testimony. She’s lied so many times, she BELIEVES it. I would dearly love to be the one who has transcribed her therapist’s notes!!

Now, as for Dean…well, he’s an a$$ from way back. As for the Clinton’s … you know their history of deaths, mysterious goings-on connected with them…and then Brett mentions them & hinted of their corrupt ways in his testimony. The silence with the Dems was deafening!!

I loved Tillison’s, Flake’s & Cruz’s input. I think (hope) he’ll be confirmed. But, not holding my breath.

It is a sad day indeed. Trump needs to go full bore now. Fire fire fire all of them and get on with it. This is a death by a thousand cuts. If we are going down, go down in a blaze of glory.

I missed about the first 10 minutes of the testimony by Judge Kav.
I read a comment of someone that made me want to read something he said that I missed. Uncorroborated allegations hadn’t made me wonder about him, but had I heard this I could’ve not wasted the day.
“During 1998, the year of the impeachment of President Clinton, our office generally and I personally were in the middle of an intense national media and political spotlight.
I and other leading members of Ken Starr’s office were opposition researched from head to toe, from birth through the present day. Recall the people who were exposed that year of 1998 as having in engaged in some sexual wrongdoing or indiscretions in their pasts. One person on the left even paid a million dollars for people to report evidence of sexual wrongdoing, and it worked. Exposed some prominent people. Nothing about me.”
If the Clinton’s couldn’t get him then on some railroad track in Mena, by gawd they ain’t gonna get him now!
Well, I hope he has bodyguards.
P.S. looked but can’t find anything about who the prominent people exposed were. Maybe that’s who Swetsick saw. 🙂

As I recall, he made passing mention of the Clintons in reference to pay back. As you know, I am and have been suspect of Kavanaughs long political history. Do I think he had anything to do with Ford? Emphatically no. But he was a determined man. He was with the impeachment folks of Bill Clinton and wanted especially to go after the details of his sexual proclivities. Pay back. Then there is the Vince Foster. The Clintons should thank their lucky stars Kavanugh went their way with it.
Kavanughs appearance as a choir boy was/is just that. He is a determined political operative. Just type in Kavanugh in my search bar in the upper right hand side.
He will be another Kennedy on the Supremes. I hope he makes it. But I am under no delusion.

When all that Watergate crap was going on, my mother said: “Whatever Nixon did or did not do, whether or not he should be removed from office, this is going to come back to bite the Republicans — and the whole of America.”

As far as I’m concerned, John Dean needs to sit down and shut the hell up.

A two bit burglary… a wise statement from your mother. Amazing, all of these treasonous people go on to live full happy lives. I still recall the hearings…and the day the news of that there were tapes broke. Why Nixon never got rid of them still puzzles me.

Dean, the rat fink who sold his boss Nixon down the river over a two bit failed attempt at petty larceny, warns of republican abuse of power? These days in this political climate republican power is an oxymoron. If nothing else the circus we have been witness to these past few months, weeks, days and hours illustrates to anyone, whose anus does not house their head, that the GOP in congress has only as much power as the democrat minority is willing to cede to them; none at all. For the republicans a majority is merely a question of semantics. How could anyone not see this FBI investigation coming down the pike and not see this as an opportunity for the democrat gravediggers to dig up more witnesses to Kavanaugh’s alleged sexual improprieties and depravities, although this is purported to be limited in scope. The democrats and the left have only just begun to fight with the republicans having already turned tail and run.

The FBI not interviewing Ford could be a good thing…they’re hurrying and we heard ENOUGH FROM HER by now, don’t you think? What more could she say to them ..? I just keep wondering about ANYBODY who’d go to Avenatti to represent them……and that nobody’s asking about that…it’s so clear he’s on the payroll of the DNC and/or Soros (one and probably the same, by the way). I think these extra days were added so they could prime the next accuser. I want this OVER, it’s painful, it’s disgusting, it’s a joke.

MUSTANG! A WHITE HOUSE TAKEOVER OF THE SC? OMG! Well done, my friend…good piece…..and SO SAD.

Oh, I think it IS about the accusations of sexual attack…Not to US, we all understand completely (as does Kavanaugh and Lindsay Graham and so many others) that this is not about what allegedly happened…but most in the public absolutely thrive on prurient stories and this is just up their alley.
I’m utterly sick of the whole thing….John Dean appears only on MSNBC and CNN, ’nuff said, the JERK. Now THERE is something most people are NOT listening to…John Dean. He strokes the far left, that’s all.
I thought Kavanaugh’s rant about the left, Clinton, and more was terrific…….he went up in my estimation. I hope he’s not destroyed completely. And I hope (the) Flake goes away. far, far away. With Feinstein, Leahy, particularly Blumenthal, BOoker, and Kamala Harris..well, where would we stop THIS list?
