So much for the “Art of the Deal.” One can only wonder if Trump isn’t getting worned down with the constant attacks. How else to explain why he seemed to have so little interest in being involved in the process. Why wasn’t he out on the stump arguing for a decent bill?
A real embarrassment for Trump after he was out looking at the wall models last week in California.
Does anyone really think that McConnell and Ryan just showed up and told him that this was the way it was going to be? No Wall? Wait until next September when this whole spending thing starts up gain during the election cycle. The GOPers can kiss the House good-bye and you can be sure a Democrat House will impeach Trump and it will be the shot heard ’round the world.
Update: The big Ryanesque spending bill isn’t as bad as I thought last night. It’s worse. Forbids hiring more ICE agents. Limits detention beds, making “catch & release” more likely. Call 202 456-1111 if you want to urge Trump to veto
This sums it up:
Democratic leaders celebrate budget bill: “We’re able to accomplish more in the minority”
Here are the individual votes:
Lawmakers approved the bill in a 256-167 vote on Thursday, with majorities in each caucus backing the measure. Ninety Republicans and 77 Democrats voted against the bill. A large numbers of conservative Republicans were among those voting no over the measure’s massive price tag and the lack of transparency in the bill-writing process.
Senate:
Mar 23 | 63 (65-32) | Agreed to | On the Motion | H.R. 1625 |
For individual votes and to find out how your Senator voted go
House of Representatives:
For individual votes and to find out how your House Rep voted go to Gov Track

This is a disaster, Trump was rolled by the Democrats and the establishment Republicans, once again proving they are on the same side.

Evil stalks the land…. pure evil… I can’t imagine that Trump will be willing to fight on for too much longer… Costing him a fortune and time with Mueller.. who needs it… not him for sure.

The bill really sucks. I could very well do Trump in – in 2020. The only chance is that enough people see the republicans as the real problem, vote the rinos out, and replace dems in 2018, and somehow force Mitch McChuckles out and replace him with someone who will go to the 51 majority vote on everything. Then actually implement Trump’s agenda. Starting to seem like a taller order now.
The dems during obama got everything they wanted with the exception of a 3rd Scotus judge. The R’s should now get everything they want. America voted for Trump’s agenda.

Again, I see no real surprises. In the first instance, the nature of our politics (and its bane, as far as I am concerned) is that in order to get anything done at all, one must compromise with the opposing side. I’m sure this works fine in Utopia, where we can find herds of unicorns, but in the real world it simply means that we must depend upon national leaders who are willing to exchange underlying values for progress. This is why we still have federal funding of programs such as the wholesale extermination of unborn infants. (Side note: the left see’s illegal aliens as undocumented citizens who are entitled to rights, but unborn human beings as fetuses). Our spending programs are amok. If we had a congress dedicated to serving the US constitution (which, after all, is part of their oath of office), then the enumerated powers of the federal government would limit government spending. Apparently, the one thing we are sort of inside the beltway is responsible adults. I am reminded of something said by H. L. Mencken: “American democracy is the art and science of running the circus from inside the monkey cage.”

obama and the dems got away with “America voted for my agenda” so we’re going to rape the republicans at will. The problem is the repubblekins don’t have the same sense of urgency and purpose to save America form the dictatorship that existed from Jan/2009 — Jan/2017. That is the real problem.

They have zero interest in saving America… I wonder what goes through their heads when they look at their children and Grandchildren. They have to know they are doomed if this continues..

Their arrogance trumps (pun intended) any rationalizations regarding the future, the assumption being that their wealth and power will deter the invaders from storming the walls of their gated ivory towers.

It is a bit of a head shaker. I’m thinking the repubs didn’t expect to win in 2016 and also didn’t care. Probably shocked that they did. Nothing more than pigs at the feed station.

I hate to go this far off topic but I just saw how the playboy bunny Anderson Cooper interviewed is now all over the liberal homepages in big headlines and photos saying she’s so sorry to Melania! See how CLEVER the leftwing media is? She immediately has sympathy for being SO nice and caring…and who looks like the lying, unfaithful thug? WOW. they are SO DAMNED GOOD. And he was so wrong in his infidelity, which can hardly be doubted at this point 😦 But, so what? People like Anderson Cooper, who’s so upset at Trump’s infidelities, would vote for Bill Clinton TOMORROW if he could..right?

Meanwhile, Anderson Cooper did a full hour interview of the new Playboy bunny accusation..”did he have a nickname for you?” was the journalistic high Anderson hit. Scum. And no, it’s not important, but the public hears it….I don’t know how this WH can survive. And I guess that’s the goal of the Schumers and Pelosis and Bidens of our country.

Trump’s said to be considering vetoing it now because it doesn’t help the DACA kids or build a wall……….I think that’s just his WH media people trying to spin it in a way conservatives could think kindlier of him over this. It makes my stomach hurt to see the glee of the Democrats. They won. In the minority. Typical. Republicans are afraid enough of the media that they’ll give in to the Left……….again and again.

On the contrary, the democrats, with their scared weasel republicans buddies shitting in their pants, are not in the minority. One look at Paul Ryan with his shit (there’s that word again) eating grin yesterday says it all. And so the corrupt welfare state rolls on unencumbered by democrat losses at the polls. Trump’s stepping back from the process and unceremoniously watching while his party allows this infamnia to see the light of day, whether or not he signs it, shows us the fight is over.

Good point, peter…it’s like we DO have a third party; that comprised of Dems AND some Reps! There just HAS to be something behind Ryan’s thinking….threats? realizing he can get NOTHING that he really wants (which I believe IS more conservative) with this rough and ugly Dem bunch so he acquiesces? Do we have all the facts?
AND SO WHERE IS TRUMP? Ryan went to speak to him and he’s probably going to sign now. Even FOX said this morning that “some at the WH are saying he only slammed the bill, saying DACA needs funding (what money do we need to spend on letting people stay here, by the way? We’re already supporting them) and the wall needs building..just so it looks to his conservative following that he tried.” ???

Wall? Here’s my thoughts from day one-when critics exclaimed it would be impossible to build a wall without digging down 25 feet where in response was Bob The Builder-oops, I mean Trump calling a pressers and pointing out he erects 50 story buildings with five sub-basements descending hundreds of feet into Manhatten’s granite? Here in New Jersey our highways are laced with hundreds of miles of sound barrier walls made possible by former democrat governor James Florio, his slap in the face to NJ taxpayers and boom to his special interest pals as he left the governor’s mansion in defeat.
Here’s another thought: if Pelosi, Boxer Feinstein et al can get their pals in on the action (graft and corruption) that darn old phantom wall may yet become a reality. 🤡😂

It’s just another nail in the coffin for Trump and the Republican Party as well as for the great american experience. The question remains though, when does the economic house of cards collapse, at how many trillions of never to be paid debt?
