FOX: Police pulled out of Lee Park after the violence started, said too dangerous UPDATE

Always on Watch includes this in her comments at her blog:

Check out this information about the Michael Signer, the mayor of Charlottesville:

He has worked for the Center for American Progress and worked with John Podesta on Barack Obama’s State Department Transition Team.

Mr. Signer has been busy since yesterday evening — all over ever news show I saw — in his zeal to lay yesterday’s outbreak of violence “at the steps of the White House.”

Check out this list and this list of articles that Mr. Signer has written.

If it is true that the Unite the Right group, a group which had a lawful permit, were forced to walk through the lines of Anti-fa so as to reach their designated assembly place, I submit that the authorities in Charlottesville were hoping for violence to break out.

And how is that the murderer’s car sat there idling for several minutes and was not noticed by the police?

But I digressed:

A couple of hundred stupid people had a permit to hold a rally. Antifa and Black Lives Matter did not. The stupid people who were exercising their rights had their permit pulled and were told to disperse. And so the police in fact threw these people right into the cement filled soda cans being thrown by Antifa. The police? They were told to stand down. Here is a little viewed video that includes Fox news McKelway who was standing right in the midst of it with the police. Start it at 2:40

McKelway told FOX News viewers the police pulled out of Lee Park after the violence started.

The police told him, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.” This was after violent Antifa terrorists launched an attack on the white supremacists.

Move the video to 2:40.

Doug McKelway: We are now beginning to hear criticism bubble up on all sides of this event about the initial slow response by the police. When I got out of my car yesterday in Charlottesville about 10:30 in the morning you knew this was a bad scene and bad things were going to be happening because people were congregating at Lee Park and Emancipation Park wearing helmets, body armor, carrying big heavy sticks. Nobody was intent on peace here from either side. People were intent on causing havoc and causing damage. And even as wounded were being brought out of the park police were sitting idly by. I was standing off a cordoned off area where the police had set up as a staging area, the state police, and they said you can come in here this is a safe area. But when the tear gas started to fly, thrown by protesters, the police themselves began to evacuate then. I asked the guy who was in charge, “Where you going?” He said, “We’re leaving. It’s too dangerous.” They had a chance to nip this thing in the bud and they chose not to.

McKelway also interviewed a police spokeswoman who said “people” were hurling soda cans filled with cement. This is an Antifa tactic.

One can only wonder if there were those who wanted this rumble to turn into what it did. H/T: Gateway Pundit

Amazing, isn’t it how the Communist media complex is pretending to be outraged when they’ve been ignoring the sins of Commie thugs and hand-tied law enforcement standing down for 3 plus years?

Yikes! So when the people needed them the most the police cared more about their own safety than the safety of the people they were supposed to protect and now people are dead.

But it seems that the Governor called for a

    State of Emergency

    Before VA became one

Does it appear that the Governor got tipped off that the

BLM and Antifa groups were on their way?

    • bunkerville Says:

By declaring the State of Emergency, the permit was pulled and the group was forced to disperse- thus there was no “safe” place to assemble as I read it. Therefore they were forced into the midst of the Antifa et al group….they were considerable out numbered as I read it. It appears they were attacked first, but either way they apparently came prepared for trouble.

Police are assets of a community or municipality. It was a correct and proper police action to withdraw from a scene of imminent danger that could end a career with serious physical injury or death. Two police officers were killed in the helicopter crash. The training it takes for any law enforcement member, is about a quarter million dollars. Then the experience of any veteran officer, is invaluable. Losses to families. Loss of a helicopter and, the purchase price of a new replacement helicopter. We’re talking millions of dollars involved that Virginia taxpayers will be shelling out. By pulling back, establishing a line and holding it, sound police tactics were utilized. In recent years, courts have affirmed that police to not need to place themselves into any situation that may harm them, which means, unlike decades ago, the protection of life and property, are secondary, to administrative duties and routines. That, is the main reason why I advocate, Constitutional Carry. Help, may not be on the way, and if it does arrive, there may not be permission or authorization, to help anyone other than what administrators decide. The two groups were there, knowing, there would be trouble, but they all went anyway. Let them mix it up, because they will do it, anyway. You can always arrest the winners. The ANTIFA and BLM, have had a free hand for much too long, and the people on the right, were correct. I believe that next time, the right, will bring rope, and hoist a few lefties and watch them dance.

I am a retired Detective Sergeant. Things have changed since I retired in the late 20th century, but I (naturally) stay on top of police issues. As far as my personal views are concerned, I tell people to leave their differences at the curb when they show up for work, because all the people must be served and treated equally. That is professionalism, and anyone who wears a badge (or a Pickle Suit), understands it. The Job, comes first. There will always be a time when being hardcore is correct, and there is always a time when recklessness is to be avoided. The whole thing is knowing how to think under stress, and it is introduced immediately when police recruits enter the academy. Same with the Corps. Fabulous training, equals, fabulous performance. The snowflakes and thumbsuckers, will never understand:

Well B.. you caused some deep thoughts on your comment. I must say it is one way to settle it. But the real culprits are those who knew days before that there was going to be a need for serious police presence. The fact that there was an intention not to prepare should be considered a criminal act. Anarchy is what was hoped for. They knew many were locked and loaded. They were hoping for exactly what you are suggesting. From there, we move on to civil war and we have capitulated to them and they have won. The police should have spoken out as to the situation and alerted the public that this was a political decision. If they will not speak up for us who will??

The failure, if any, lies with the state governor. Coddling the left, vilifying the right. We cannot change history. There were noble men on both sides of the Civil War. All Confederate veterans are US veterans by act of US Congress 1957, and war monuments are US war monuments, for which it is a federal felony to desecrate or remove without congressional authorization.

Oh, Bunker, I love the police, love them! They come into the restaurant all the time. I’m kind of a LEO groupie, lol.

It’s the mentality, the understanding, that too many in power have that we peons are just supposed to obey without question everything a cop says. That is wrong. Police have a very, very important and so, so dangerous job.

But, they aren’t our masters. They don’t have power over us unless we have broken the law. They have rules they have to follow when encountering the public that they don’t always follow. Too many have the mentality that we have to obey them no matter what – and that’s just not true.

The courts – the bastards in my comment above – are the ones who have changed the relationship between LEOs and the public. Their opinions have dangerously eroded our Rights and freedoms.

I love the police, but I love our Rights, freedoms, and liberties more.

I am so very, very sorry you had such a disturbing encounter.

The mayor, is a devout racist, and his intentions could have been to inflame an already volatile situation. The governor, a leftist liberal, also could have played a role in that. I am wondering if there was another factor involved, where the pedestrian flow through a corridor was due to possibly a parking situation to accommodate what initially may have been thought of as a peaceful event. I would like to think that negligence or raging hatred, caused any poor decisions.

I would hope you are right, Brittius. Unfort…I believe orders came from the leftist liberal governor himself. Like my husband said, “So glad I’m retired.”

Retirement for me has not been pleasant. I am too Old School, and would not fit in with today’s policing, but I miss the Job everyday.
What is curious, is that serious physical injuries are reported at 19, and deaths at 3. So how is it, that the FBI and the State of Virginia, are not launching any investigations into who, exactly, caused the problem, and gave orders resulting in a rally over removal of a war monument to turning a bloody race riot? Trump was stymied and said only “white supremacy”, and stuck his hoof into his mouth. I believe that Mike Pence, with his experience as a state governor, would have been much more qualified to answer and, know where to look for answers and reasons. If the Virginia governor gave any unlawful orders, a grand jury should be looking at the case because in my opinion, they would return a True Bill, considering the casualties the unlawful orders resulted in, and, that would void state indemnification. There will be plenty of civil litigations going around, and establishing culpability, points towards unlawful orders given by somebody.

And since Sessions fought and won against the KKK in ‘Bama, nothing will come of the alt left—although he ought to look at everything. Mark my words.

I will beg everyone’s pardon right at the outset for the appearance of any French-sounding words, but my questions are these:

Why is it wrong for anyone to call themselves “white nation,” (which I do not agree with), but it is okay for groups to call themselves “Black Lives Matter,” “War on the Horizon,” “Nation of Islam,” and “New Black Panther?” I am guessing that if there is any rationale, it would more or less equate to blacks calling other blacks “nigga” and “nappy headed ho,” and yet if a white person does it, it constitutes some heinous form of racism.

If rowdies are tossing cans filled with dried cement (suggesting a premeditated act of violence), then why is it not okay for other groups to kick their asses? If these people are prepared to use automobiles to kill other human beings, then shouldn’t there be background checks before anyone can purchase one? Do the American people have the right to protect themselves from killer automobiles with, say, a .44 magnum?

If cops are going to acquiesce to perpetrators of violence, shouldn’t they remove “to protect and serve” from the side of their squad cars? (Although I should also acknowledge that when police do the right thing, their cities, states, and federal government come down on them with suspension from duty without pay and “civil rights” probes).

Given that the media isn’t calling this what it is suggests that they are a bunch of Lilly-livered cowards, completely signed on the Obama’s eight years of racist policies.

My final questions are: when a mayor sets up, orchestrates, or enables violence in his community, isn’t he guilty of the worst kind of malfeasance? Could the mayor be sued for this sort of criminal behavior? Is there anyone in Virginia who will take this to the courts? Does the American Civil Liberties Union only protect black thugs and/or registered democrats/communists?

I agree with you entirely. Our suspicions about this being a set up appears to be well founded. As I said to Linda, we will be stuck as espousing the rhetoric of this group unless we are clear that we disown them. They have every right to assemble I support that. But what they represent has nothing to do with me and I want no confusion as to where I am coming from and do not want it to appear I support them in any other way. Just as they have the right to their speech, I have a right to call them “stupid!”

Skin color doesn’t matter to me – actions, words, behavior matters. However, as a group, people of every skin color, ethnicity, religion, nationality, sex, age (notice I did not say race because there is only one race – the human race) can be idiots. I don’t support any group which is based on skin color. Like one’s ethnicity, skin color cannot be controlled – it’s chosen for you. Decisions, options, choices, opportunities should never be based on a person’s skin color or ethnicity. It’s exclusionary and discriminatory – especially when all other skin colors are put above one.

I can attempt to answer a couple of your questions.

White has been the dominate skin color since the founding of this Country. According to the ubiquitous ‘them’ the whites have kept the people of color down. The whites have always had the power and the PoC haven’t. Therefore, the PoC are the only ones who have justification for these groups. Whites don’t need a ‘White History Month’ because all the history taught in schools is about whites. Whites don’t need a ‘White Congressional Caucus’ because most of Congress is white. And so on, and so on.

This is ‘their’ perspective. This perspective makes us enemies. All I can ask is why??? I could go on and on, but I won’t, ;).

The police aren’t here to protect or to serve. As I agreed in my reply to Brit, the courts have ruled that the police have no duty to protect any person unless they are in police custody. That is the only time they have a ‘duty to protect.’ And ‘serve’ – they haven’t been public servants for a very long time. Probably around the same time our elected representatives stopped being public servants.

Elected (and the unelected) officials believe they are our lords and masters and the LEOs are their servants.

I have had it with FOX who has stopped reporting on truth and have since taken Fair & Balanced out of their headlines, now they are backing up the Antifa and other alt left movements. I could usually count on FOX to deliver the news, all of it, but since the Murdoch boys are trying to buy SKY, they have changed tactics. We haven’t watched any news since Saturday, read it on the internet, yes, but not watch it.

    I am not sure if I would characterize “A couple of hundred stupid people had a permit to hold a rally” (the word permit being the key)…I would characterize McAuliffe as stupid for saying what he said and acting the way he did, but then again, he is part of the problem. Breitbart is reporting the police were told to stand down or redirect the folks so they would run into each other. Where do you suppose they got the order? ANYWAYS, Not that I am supporting “A couple of hundred stupid people had a permit to hold a rally”, but enough is enough. This is the mo/plan of the far left to discredit everything and I have a feeling the more these alt left push whatever agenda, the more the “A couple of hundred stupid people had a permit to hold a rally” is going to push back. {{slithering off the soap box, lol}}

I was also reading there are news folks stating, “IT’S ONLY A STATUE!” Give me a break, what is that old saying, give an inch and they take mile? Something like that.
