Sanders: FBI investigation of his wife and him. ‘It’s Trump’s fault’

Does Bernie really believe we will drink his Kool-Aid? After doing two posts which clearly show a nasty business he blames Trump now? The College was in better shape at the time she left? And why did she leave? She was fired and took $200K on the way out the door. No, Bernie, when you run as a candidate, people look into your affairs. Your not off the hook either. Turn about is a tough. You are quick to go after Trump. In case you missed my posts..a refresher.

Bernie and Jane Sanders College corruption? Funneled daughter $500,000

How did Jane Sanders funnel more than 500k to her daughter’s for-profit woodworking business during her tenure as President of Burlington College and get away with it?

What hasn’t been discussed in all the noise about Burlington College’s closure is how Jane Sanders (supported by the same Board of Trustees who approved the land sale) openly funneled hundreds of thousands of dollars from Burlington College’s operating funds to VT Woodworking School — a for-profit business started by her daughter Carina Driscoll in 2007.

Will Trump end up causing the downfall of Bernie and Jane Sanders?

The tasty part is it will be the Donald who may play an important part in the outcome. He has yet to appoint the U.S. Attorney for Vermont who will be deciding how to proceed.

Here is a good summary of the issues that I have added.

Matrix, a stalwart reader sent this additional gem to add to this shiny object. Not only does it look like Bernie and Jane were involved in a fraudulent land deal, the daughter was raking in the dough as well, not to the benefit of Burlington College:

corina college

Despite scattered reporting on this story, Jane Sanders has never been asked to explain why Burlington College suddenly needed to start a woodworking program in 2009 – the very same year the VT Woodworking School expanded to its current site in Fairfax, VT taking on considerable expense of a new building and needing to find students to fill its cavernous 15,000 square-foot space. Nor has anyone asked if the College did what would normally be required in this process by creating a Request For Proposal (RFP) to solicit bids in order to guarantee that the process was fair and open to other entities competing for this business.

This appears not to be the case given that the College was also funding another program at the same time (as reported in the College’s tax returns) that directly benefited the children of Jonathan Leopold, a board member.

According to the College’s now defunct website, Carina Driscoll was listed as Director of the Woodworking Program at Burlington College on the Faculty and Staff Directory in 2016. It is unclear how the College was able to hire her on staff while she remained the owner of VT Woodworking — directly benefitting from the College’s funding of her for-profit business.  Read more

Donald Trump ends celebration of Ramadan dinner celebration

Finally Trump puts his foot down. We have been at war with Islam since the beginning of our Nation. Shades of what John Adams and Thomas Jefferson argued back at the time of the beginning of our Nation. Muslims were terrorizing our shipping lanes on what was known as the Barbary Coast. Capturing our sailors and ships. Appeasement? Or War? I include a small part of an earlier post of mine concerning it.

President Trump, who stayed over at the White House for the weekend, did not hold an iftar dinner to commemorate Ramadan. Instead, he issued a statement Saturday morning to celebrate the occasion, which marks the end of the holy month.

“On behalf of the American people,” President Trump said in the statement, “Melania and I send our warm greetings to Muslims as they celebrate Eid al-Fitr.”

Over the years, the dinners, attended by leaders of the Muslim community, foreign diplomats and members of Congress, have grown odd, given the nonstop Islamic violence spreading across the world. Ramadan brings even more terror as Muslim attackers are seen as martyrs during Ramadan, and supposedly win greater rewards in the afterlife.

And 2017 set a new record for terror attacks during Ramadan, which ran from May 26 to June 24. There were 174 Islamic terror attacks that left 1,595 people dead and 1,960 wounded, reports Religion of Peace.  H/T”Daily Wire

What Jefferson and Adams knew about Muslims that Progressives don’t

Adams wanted to pay ransom to secure the release of hostages. Jefferson said no more. Appeasement? Or war. It is good to review this piece of History at this time. Here tis a piece of it:

During the meeting Jefferson and Adams asked the Dey’s ambassador why Muslims held so much hostility towards America, a nation with which they had no previous contacts.

The Americans wanted to negotiate a peace treaty based on Congress’ vote to appease. For the following 15 years, the American government paid the Muslims millions of dollars for the safe passage of American ships or the return of American hostages. The payments in ransom and tribute amounted to 20 percent of United States government annual revenues in 1800.

Not long after Jefferson’s inauguration as president in 1801, he dispatched a group of frigates to defend American interests in the Mediterranean, and informed Congress.

Declaring that America was going to spend “millions for defense but not one cent for tribute,” Jefferson pressed the issue by deploying American Marines and many of America’s best warships to the Muslim Barbary Coast. Read more

Sunday Respite – Celebration of Summer Solstice, Litha

This week the wheel turned once more with the celebration of the Summer Solstice or Litha. It has been an important date since Neolithic times. Wishing you a wonderful day.

Midsummer, also known as St John’s Day, is the period of time centered upon the summer solstice, and more specifically the Northern European celebrations that accompany the actual solstice or take place on a day between June 19 and June 25 and the preceding evening. The exact dates vary between different cultures. The Christian Church designated June 24 as the feast day of the early Christian martyr St John the Baptist, and the observance of St John’s Day begins the evening before, known as St John’s Eve.

In Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Quebec (Canada), the traditional Midsummer day, June 24, is a public holiday. So it was formerly also in Sweden and Finland, but in these countries it was, in the 1950s, moved to the Friday and Saturday between June 19 and June 26, respectively.[5]

The solstice itself has remained a special moment of the annual cycle of the year since Neolithic times. (For Neolithic and Bronze Age astronomy, see Archaeoastronomy.) The concentration of the observance is not on the day as we reckon it, commencing at midnight or at dawn, as it is customary for cultures following lunar calendars to place the beginning of the day on the previous eve at dusk at the moment when the Sun has set. In Sweden, Finland, Latvia and Estonia, Midsummer’s Eve is the greatest festival of the year, comparable only with Walpurgis Night, Christmas Eve, and New Year’s Eve.

Will Trump end up causing the downfall of Bernie and Jane Sanders?

A little reported story is the looming criminal case of Jane Sanders and her hubby’s involvement in possible loan fraud. Did Bernie grease the wheels? Jane mislead the lender as to the amount of pledges given to Burlington College’s purchase of land?

Collects $200,000 as she goes out the door of a bankrupt college

The tasty part is it will be the Donald who may play an important part in the outcome. He has yet to appoint the U.S. Attorney for Vermont who will be deciding how to proceed. Politico gives a kind interpretation of the facts that I have read elsewhere, but this will do for today:

“There’s an implication, and from at least one individual, an explicit argument that when they called for an investigation into Burlington College that you used your influence to secure a loan from People’s United—”

 The senator cut him off.

Politico is reporting that Sen. Bernie Sanders and  his wife Jane Sanders have “lawyered up” as the federal investigation into her role in the collapse of Burlington College continues:

From Politico:

Now, Senator Sanders and his wife are taking the case more seriously. Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ longtime top political adviser who heads Sanders’ political organization, Our Revolution, confirms to Politico Magazine that Bernie and Jane Sanders have lawyered up. The couple has retained Rich Cassidy, a well-connected Burlington attorney and Sanders devotee, and Larry Robbins, the renowned Washington-based defense attorney who has represented I. Lewis “Scooter” Libby and disgraced former Rep. Bill Jefferson, to represent Jane Sanders in the matter.

Now here’s the best part. It seems that President Donald Trump will be instrumental in deciding the Sanders’ fate:

Now, President Donald Trump’s Justice Department is handling an investigation that will proceed at the discretion of a U.S. attorney of Vermont that Trump has yet to appoint.

The facts of the case are complicated. They are steeped in Vermont’s peculiar educational culture and the incestuous financial system in Burlington, Sanders’ hometown and political base, where some Sanders backers worry that with Trump’s Justice Department calling the shots, the facts—intricate as they are—may not determine the outcome.

No wonder Sanders hates Trump so much. Read the entire report here.

Nancy Pelosi on being swept in special elections ‘I am proud of the way we lost’

Pelosi: ‘So you want me to sing my praises? And other assorted nonsense Nancy has to say on the election. I don’t know why the GOP is adding to the fuel about Nancy and she should go. It is the best thing we have going at this point. Below the clip, a reaction.

“We have harmony…..”

Keith Ellison ‘Resistance Summer going awesome’ day after loss

I am enjoying the “WINNING” thanks to the Donald. When I caught Muslim Keith Ellison’s remarks over at the Beacon, I thought this is great, the Democrats think they are winning too. He also opines his support for his Nancy Pelosi. What a wonderful world! At this rate, the GOP will rule for life. I’ll spare you the clip of Ellison’s remarks, wander over to the Beacon to see it. Instead I will give you a photo of the Dems “winning!”

One day after his party suffered a loss in the Georgia special House election, Democratic National Committee vice-chairman Rep. Keith Ellison (D., Minn.) announced that his party’s “Resistance Summer” is “going awesome.”

Ellison, a rising star in the Democratic party’s progressive wing who narrowly lost a race for DNC chair in February, was speaking to a DNC Live event on Wednesday night.

“First of all ‘resistance summer’ is going awesome,” Ellison said in an interview with Neera Tanden of the Center for American Progress. “It’s going well. The Democratic Party is on the move. We are getting across this country. We are fighting every single day.”

(Local Democrat official to me this morning: “What the hell is wrong with all the polls?? We can’t win anything! The Democrat brand is dead!”)

His comments came the day after Democrat Jon Ossoff lost to Republican Karen Handel in the special House election in Georgia’s sixth Congressional district. This left Democrats zero for four in special elections since last November, in spite of $35 million in spending.
