Update: All is well. We were blessed that the storm moved East and A-OK here! Many thanks for all your prayers and concern.
I am not sure if the power and internet will remain functional as Matthew descends upon us. I sure miss the North Bunker, but Florida is the place to be in the winter. A wonderful state except for one thing……….. yep you guessed it. Hurricanes. And this Bunker here in the South is no bunker in truth. Florida has no income tax, Homestead exception for seniors regarding real estate tax, no inheritance tax, no car inspections, no death tax to name a few. Encourages everyone to get their concealed carry. So there are the ups and downs of Florida. I am well provisioned, did my prepper work weeks ago so Let’s roll!
Many thanks to all who shared their concern for our safety. It is easy to get jaded about humanity but the well wishers who have written and commented restores my faith that the majority of Americans are good and decent people. So let me get off my soap box. Prayers to all who are in harm’s way. (Adding this additional post today in case we are knocked out.)

We live in SE Georgia (Pierce County) and are also hunkered down. Hope you still have power this AM. Please let us know as soon as possible your status. We are just starting to get hit by winds but are as ready as ready can be. Prayers for everyone in the path of this monster. Stay safe!! May the LORD Jesus Christ place His loving, protecting hand on us all.

I have been sitting on pins and needles. I’m glad that you are okay. I have friends in the Miami North Shores area. They are going to be okay. I’m very worried about my former neighbor who is in Jacksonville. 😦

Thanks so much Adrienne.. At least I won’t have to watch Hillary on the Weather channel apparently. I hear she just decided to pull her ads. That would have been over the top.

There’s a huge massive destructive force bearing down on you full of wind, blowing hard.
And that’s just Hillary Clinton.

I am very concerned….the storm surge is expected to reach 10 blocks in Daytona Beach–my sister in law and brother in law are one block from the beach. My folks are 30-45 min west…dad says, “Cut it out girly, we have been here 41 years, we’re use to it.” Sigh….look, hubby, I and son lived in Tuscaloosa, AL when Hurricane Katrina hit, and we were hit big time (and that is 7 hrs east!!) and not to mention the EF 5 tornado that destroyed our town and we survived that (and lost everything)…this is a reason why we will never live south again. Not meaning to scare you…just being truthful.
Keeping you in prayer…I ‘ll check in with you tomorrow or Saturday friend…

Thanks Linda. So you are so very kind and thanks for the prayers. I have a cousin in Charleston SC who won’t budge. Too many have no idea what happens in a hurricane. 2 Million new people in Florida since the last one and have no idea.

well…in fairness, my husbands family has no place to go and no money…and find those evacs. silly myself…just saying…(silly because of the poor and people who cant go anywhere)–for the record my brother works for Lake County Fire Dept. (firemedic) he just got reassigned to St. Johns, near Daytona. I mean every word, keeping you and everyone in prayer.

Bunker – An FYI in case you have internet – https://theconservativetreehouse.com/2016/10/06/cth-suspends-most-discussion-to-focus-on-hurricane-matthew/#more-122808
“Friends, due to the scope and potential severity of Hurricane Matthew we are going to suspend traditional research and discussion threads so that we (specifically me) can focus all attention on any Tree House member who might need assistance in this storm.
Remember, no-one is ever alone. As Americans, we are always at our best when our nation is in its greatest need. We are a UNITED states.”
Last night I was reading another thread there on the storm and it was so amazing how many people in Florida were making connections with each other, I suspect this thread will do the same.
BE SAFE SAFE SAFE and hurry back!!!!
