Trump played Cruz like a fiddle? Fellow B-ville comrades were texting back and forth. Would or wouldn’t Cruz come out and support Trump? NO. He didn’t. Finis we said. Now with the light of day, my hunch? Trump trumped him. You don’t come to someone’s party and not support the candidate. Turns out the organization knew that Cruz would not support him and there was Newt, waiting in the wings to soothe the breech of decorum. What say you?

Disclaimer: I am not a Cruz supporter although I might have been. Until…until I saw him at the beginning of one of the debates when he was asked a question regarding the issue of natural born citizen. His response: well, I’m glad we are talking about important issues here… (Laugh, sneer, snark) He came across as so patronizing and condescending it absolutely turned me off. As if to say, an issue regarding a basic requirement for the highest office in the land is…unimportant.
So I have mixed feelings here. Cruz really had few options once he agreed to speak at the RNC. Either support Trump or not. In a way it seemed refreshing and courageous to have a politician who, having traded insults and mud slinging with his opponent, did not do what every other campaigning politician does: kiss and make up and throw support to the person they have spent millions vilifying. (That has always struck me as so hypocritical: for months you’ve told us why Candidate X is unfit and now you urge us to support him/her. Oh really?) However, he came as close as he could without saying Trump’s name.
Cruz chose speak at the RNC . But why? How much was his non endoresment driven by Concern for the country and as now is coming out how much was personal because of the ‘insults’ to Heidi and his father. Couldn’t he have acknowledged the bitterness between himself and Trump and yet been man enough to put them aside for the good of the country he seems to love since the alternative of a clinton presidency is blood curdling. Couldn’t he have offered himself in service to Trump should the need arise.for the good of the country.
Now Trump also needs to put this behind him, forget about Cruz and get on with wiping the floor with HRC.

Thanks for your comment. The boys wanted a pledge, they got one from Trump and they all needed to honor it. They never figured he would win. The jokes on them. That is what turned me off forever. A man or woman is only as good as their word

I heard that Trump read the speech and let him go with it, it certainly looks like they knew what the reaction would be and decided if this is what he wanted to do they would let him so they could finish him off forever. Cruz was not well-liked before, for reasons that I applaud him for, but now he has given them the ammo they need to do him in.

As I had said Steve, it was a good speech but he had to expect this was going to be the result and handed it to Trump. Had he not done this, he would have remained viable,. IMO

I agree, Trump “trumped” Ted Cruz. Mike Huckabee had a good synopsis on what happened last night. Wish I could remember verbatim what he said, but it was similar to: it’s like being invited to a Birthday party, then you destroy the presents and pee in the punch, something like that. Stuart Varney at Fox News may have his quote on there. It was this morning.

I know darn well that Trump entered the arena early because of what Cruz did. Trump is not the kind of guy to steal someone’s thunder. I think people got to see the real Cruz.

The left is cheering, and that makes me angry over Tedward’s hissyfit. They are using his words against DT. That is never good however, if DT hits it out of the ballpark tonight Tedward will be all but forgotten.

Funny, I just posted a similar post, lol…and yes, Trump played him like a fiddle and he gave Cruz the opportunity to make things right and Cruz didn’t. Good luck Cruz on ever running for office in 2020, I don’t think the people will forget. Shameful and yes, it took Gingrich to come out and smooth things over, not that it did. The knives have come out for Cruz. Kasich not showing up is a disgrace as well.

I think it was just hurt pride, as to why Ted Cruz would not say verbally that he endorses Donald Trump. He might not have said it with his mouth, but actions speak louder than words. He said it by being there. I know that he would not want the president to be Hillary!
