Due Process means nothing as well. The Senate fell two votes short, but buddy McConnell promises to bring this up once more after a few more arms are broken over the summer. Agents would be able to access the information using national security letters — a kind of administrative subpoena that does not require a court order and would likely bar an Internet provider from telling its customers that their communication was searched. Currently, the FBI must get a warrant to obtain the data.
An amendment designed to allow the government warrantless access to internet browsing histories has been narrowly defeated in the Senate.
“Due process ought to apply as it relates to guns, but due process wouldn’t apply as it relates to the internet activity of millions of Americans,” said Wyden.
The amendment fell two votes short of the required 60 votes to advance.
But the effort is far from dead. Majority leader Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-KY), who switched his vote at the last minute, submitted a motion to reconsider the vote following the defeat.
Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) introduced the amendment as an add-on to the commerce, justice, and science appropriations bill earlier this week. McCain said in a statement on Monday that the amendment would “track lone wolves” in the wake of the Orlando massacre, in which Omar Mateen, who authorities say radicalized himself online, killed 49 people at a gay nightclub in the Florida city.
In other words, the FBI will be able to tell where and when a user logged in and out of a website, including social media sites.

There’s only a couple of ways to combat this, other than taking up arms and riding our country of these scum, and that is to stop using the internet. But I’m not so sure as they’d somehow use that against us. It’s truly a quandary. Any other suggestions? (Not being snarky, truly am interested.)

If we had an honest government that one could trust it would be one thing. We have seen what the IRS is capable of. They will come after anyone and will be able to do anything without Due Process. Amazing that we throw up our hands.We beat the Japanese, the Germans, and we cannot beat some thousands of these rascals?? Give me a break.

I thought for sure you were going to discuss the “sit in” and the march down DC for the gun vote these dems are pushing. I was prepared for that discussion/ comment, lol.

They were crying for a vote. A vote on what actually? There was no house bill to vote on as far as I can tell. Well if they don’t read bills, why not vote on no bill too. Since when does the senate send the house a defeated senate originated bill to vote on?

I believe some how McCain added this on as an amendment. That is the danger as I understand it, goes back for a compromise than the basic bill gets voted which includes the amendment. Reid never permitted this nonsense. But good old McConnell more than happy to accommodate.

Hummm ok. A gun control amendment added on a house bill pertaining to something else the house passed. So sent back to house for approval to change.
