Sunday Respite: ‘Another Brick in the Wall’

By now you no doubt have heard that students are now running colleges. White male English poets are out, Western Civilization. Time travel back to the 1970’s and Pink Floyd’s “The Wall.”

Heres’s a little lighthearted stuff for a rain filled Sunday: Yesterday umpiring on the plate a baseball tournament final game I stopped the game during a torrential downpour. The home team was up with two outs and two runners on. The manager started arguing that there was no reason to halt the game. I told him to get in the dugout or he could catch the game on his car radio from the parking lot. He did as told. Five minutes later I resumed the game and his batter put the first pitch over the left field fence for a three run homer, ultimately the margin of victory. Afrer the game I told the coach next time We meet I expect a Cuban cigar in an aluminum tube. He said he’d bring two. Life is good…sometimes.

Sounds like a good day. That is the thing with baseball. A game of inches. A lot like golf imo. Lots of luck along with skill though no doubt you disagree. There are some really bad teams out there, but…..

Actually I agree Bunker. A game can turn on a pitch, an error, a hit, a base running mistake, changing a pitcher. : ) : (

Happy Sunday, Bunkerville. We’re going to be hot here the next few days (mid 90’s), but then we go back to normal.. Let’s all have a day without politics.

I’m about halfway through my biography of Louisa Adams (wife of John Quincy) and it really is excellent. Gives new perspective on the current election. I highly recommend it. I’m sure you can get it at your local library.

It almost reads like a novel. We think things are nasty now, but back then it was just as nasty, if not more so.

True Adrianna but no commies or FEMA camps. And our marines kicked muslim butts and didn’t build schools, roads, hospitals and footbaths for the enemy. Aah the good old days.
