Obama lifts ban on arm sales to Vietnam

Oh I suppose I am just being silly. How does Obama lift a ban on arms sales to Vietnam? I assume the ban was placed by Congress. Try as I might, I could find nothing regarding this little matter. I can’t imagine how the wounded and families who lost loved ones deal with this. We arm a Communist country. That is what we do. We have no clue what the turn of events will be and where Vietnam’s future will end up. But this is how we show our love.

U.S. President Obama on Monday lifted a half-century ban on selling arms to Vietnam, a move that is raising concerns among some Vietnam War veterans.

“At this stage, both sides have established a level of trust and cooperation, including between our militaries, that is reflective of common interests and mutual respect,” said Mr. Obama during his first visit there, The Associated Press reported. “This change will ensure thatVietnam has access to the equipment it needs to defend itself and removes a lingering vestige of the Cold War.”

Every U.S. arms sale would be reviewed case by case, AP said.

More than 58,200 U.S. soldiers were killed in Vietnam before the fall of Saigon in 1975. But the administration saw advantages in easing the embargo, both as a warning to expansionist China and as leverage to compel the communist regime in Hanoi to improve its record on human rights.

“They are still a communist country,” said retired Army Maj. Wulf Linden, a Georgia resident who served two tours in Vietnam. “If it’s the cream of our crop [of weapons systems], obviously that would be a bad mistake. It would be nice if we’re not selling to a regime that’s a documented communist regime. That’s my concern.”

Bao Nguyen, the mayor of Garden Grove, California, has written a letter to Mr. Obama and to Secretary of State John F. Kerry about Vietnam’s “atrocious” human rights record, including its imprisonment of dissidents in solitary confinement without charges.

“While we have an arms surplus to deal with, I don’t think dumping those arms on developing nations is the most effective way to counter China,” Mr. Nguyen said. “That’s because there’s no way to know that the government won’t use those weapons against its own people. Especially a government as corrupt and autocratic as Vietnam.”

I am not sure how he can do this either but of course the Congress will do nothing to stop him. The Congress is giving us yet another example of why Trump won the nomination…

And may we assume our limp-wristed congress dare not raise an eyebrow? Meanwhile back in the states this rat fink president continues his crusade to disarm Amerikan citizens. Four more years four more… But have no fear. Once elected Hillary will finish what this anti-american started.

Reblogged this on Rifleman III Journal and commented:
Anger and frustration, as little does Obama care of 58,000 G.I. lives lost. Obama has zero appreciation for sacrifices nor of the continued plight of POW/MIA or the families that remain in despair. Obama, as usual, slaps America in the face. His desire to destroy the Second Amendment here, at home, while continually selling guns to those who only wish death for America. The members of Congress, if they fail to Impeach, the unknown intruder of the Oval Office, label themselves as co-conspirators of Treason.
I have worked decades to put the war behind me and not mention it, and then, in the two terms of this current occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue, all kinds of bad things are brought to surface by his disrespectful actions and edicts, over and over, and over, again, without any regard for anything except his mirror and the image he continually admires, looking back at him. Beyond the Cuban episode, Vietnam, directly, involved American lives, and American families. How is it that Obama remains not being charged with Treason? It can only be resolved by the ballot box, and not re-electing any incumbent of elected office. Trump will need to clean house, completely, and require a larger staff, to locate and remedy, all of the harm caused by Barry Soetoro, who is truly an enemy of America.
I have a feeling that, BHO will be deeply bowing and apologizing (as usual) in Vietnam, and Japan. Unbelievable.

So much disrespect. Next will be Japan. No accident that he chose these two countries to bow to. The apology tour continues.

All over America, the cursing in barrooms has been gaining and this is one cause of it, as blue collar people are absolutely fed up with BHO, his antics, and his philosophies. Trump will win by a landslide. Mark my words. America is sick of him and his criminal elite class.

My late father, was 82d Airborne on D-Day, through VE-Day. He had some “choice” words, which I later understood through my own experiences. He must be rolling over in his grave.
Even all these liberals, many had family relatives somehow connected to WW2, Korean War, and Vietnam War. The liberals should be up in arms against what Obama is doing, out of respect for their own family members who participated in any way, to war efforts of the past. To say “get over it”, doesn’t hold water. In fact if abortion, and anti-gay policies come about, the same should be said to them. I am surprised that nobody, raises dissatisfaction with BHO’s actions, and a bought MSM, should consider their corporate future as Obama, is a lame duck through January 2017.

Ditto here R III. My father was in the fourth wave on D-Day and was among the contingent of Patton’s army when they eventually met the Soviets at the Elbe River. These brave men who if alive today would turn their backs on this sub human surely, to a man, must be turning in their graves.
