Memo: Clinton would steer State funds to her Donor’s Haiti project

Haiti has been a honey pot of gold for the Clinton machine and their friends. Beginning with her brother and ending with one in prison. The latest dump should be headline news,

This is the latest, but not the first story that dripped out.

First Clinton Foundation donor lobbies State Dept – Gets funding

A donor to the Clinton Foundation reached out to Hillary Clinton’s office to promote a Haiti hotel project that later received support from the U.S. government and Bill Clinton, according to emails released by the Department of State. (Take a full look, but I think you got the drift.)

Hillary Clinton’s brother gets rare Haitian gold mine permit

Hillary Rodham Clinton’s brother, Tony Rodham, sat on the board of a self-described mining company that in 2012 received one of only two “gold exploitation permits” from the Haitian government—the first issued in over 50 years.

The tiny North Carolina company, VCS Mining, also included on its board Bill Clinton’s co-chair of the Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC), former Haitian Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive.

Now the latest:

An official at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation, a federal agency under the guidance of the State Department, wrote a memo on Jan. 26, 2010 to her superiors recommending funding for a construction project in Haiti.

According to the proposal, Miami businessman Claudio Osorio and his company InnoVida would build homes on the island using low-cost proprietary panels. Lynn Tabernacki, OPIC’s renewable energy director, noted in the report that InnoVida had “U.S. persons of political influence that are able to assist in advancing the company’s plans.”

“This case represents a new low in the misuse of public funds by Clinton allies,” National Legal and Policy Center chairman Ken Boehm told the Free Beacon last July. “There must be an investigation into why this Clinton donor was using a law firm recommended by Bill Clinton and one of Hillary Clinton’s top fund raisers to improperly obtain millions from the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.”“For instance, former President Bill Clinton is personally in contact with the Company to organize its logistical and support needs,” wrote Tabernacki. “Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has made available State Department resources to assist with logistical arrangements.”

Additionally, the Clinton Global Initiative had “indicated that it would be willing to contract to purchase 6,500 homes in Haiti from InnoVida within the next year.”

What was not explicitly stated in the memo, but known to OPIC officials at the time, was that Osorio had a prior relationship with the Clintons. Days earlier, the businessman had shown Tabernacki a video of Bill Clinton speaking at his home in 2007. The speech took place during a fundraiser for Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign that Osorio hosted at his Star Island mansion.

Osorio was also a Clinton Foundation donor, contributing between $10,000 and $50,000 to the organization. Additionally, he had hired Clinton’s 2008 finance director Jonathan Mantz to lobby OPIC for the loan request.

Less than 24 hours after Tabernacki’s recommendation was sent, OPIC approved a $10 million loan to InnoVida. But the homes in Haiti were never built. By the following year, InnoVida had declared bankruptcy and its owner had caught the eye of both the Securities and Exchange Commission and the FBI.

In 2013, Osorio was sentenced to 12 years in prison for wire fraud and money laundering connected to the Haiti house-building scam. He was accused of cheating investors out of $40 million, using the money to pay for a Maserati, his Miami mansion, and a ski chalet in Colorado.

I caught this the other day. Still love the piece as much as the first the day I first heard this. Enjoy.

Clinton regrets calling Black thugs ‘Super Predators’

What Hillary hasn’t integrated as a factoid is that the internet exists and bloggers as well. Statement made that otherwise previously would have drifted far off into the ether never to be heard or seen again decades ago are now available if someone has the time and inclination to dig for it. America’s Watchtower does that and brings us this Hillary Clinton regrets calling black youths ‘super predators’ in 1996

Last night Hillary Clinton held a fundraising event which was disrupted by two Black Lives Matter protesters who wanted the former Secretary of State to explain some racist comments she made while she was the First Lady.

Of course “at-risk youth” is a dog-whistle for “black youth” and by saying they needed to “bring them to heel” is obviously in reference to training them to submit to their masters like dogs. She also called them “super predators.”

This brings to mind the Presidential race of 2008 when in South Carolina Bill Clinton famously quipped “a few years ago, this guy would have been carrying our bags.” Another racially tinged statement from the Clinton’s.

Obama’s 2009 stimulus gave millions to Filipino Vets

Recall the pork machine dreamed up in 2009 that was supposed to build road and bridges, the stimulus bill otherwise known as Porkulus? To the tune of $757 Billion bucks? It turns out that buried in the bill many Filipinos hit the jackpot. Go back 75 years and figure out who was fighting alongside us in the Philippines. Pay them bucks. That will get the U.S. economy moving won’t it. And just how do we figure out who really was with us and why now? This post follows yesterday’s post VA Outsources Vet Processing Benefits to Philippines.

….But hundreds of millions of dollars spent in the program went instead to elderly Filipinos, much of it virtually guaranteed never to make its way back to the U.S. economy.

Tucked away in the stimulus was a provision to pay $9,000 each to residents of the Philippines who fought alongside the U.S. in World War II. Those who had become U.S. citizens since the war got $15,000.

The stimulus payments — called Filipino Veterans Equity Compensation — started in April 2009. More than $225 million has since been paid to more than 18,000 Filipino vets. Slightly less than half of those now have U.S. citizenship, but may still live in the Philippines. The program was originally slated to spend $198 million.

Administering a program that writes checks to people for actions performed 75 years ago in a third-world country is not easy. Some Filipinos actually fought on the Japanese side. The VA tries to avoid rewarding enemy soldiers by checking names against lists confiscated from the Japanese army, but fraud is not uncommon.

“In order to combat high levels of fraud the office staff use a variety of methods, including using photographs and interviews to determine identity, verifying claims using forensic analysis, and using WWII Japanese records to determine whether a Filipino WWII veteran collaborated with the enemy during the war,” the Government Accountability Office wrote of VA operations in the Philippines.

VA Outsources Vet Processing Benefits to Philippines

Here we go with a solution to the VA problems. Farm them out to third world countries. Everyone else is. One of the caveats to this story as one digs into it. Apparently this office is very efficient and pleasant to deal with. What the heck, nothing else is working. Cheap, no union problems. Says it all doesn’t it?

Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) officials are outsourcing healthcare paperwork for American veterans to low-paid workers in the Philippines, a nation where the minimum wage is a dollar a day.

Long ago, VA opened a facility in Manila to care for Filipino World War II veterans who fought alongside the U.S. military against the Japanese — the Philippines was a U.S. territory until 1946. But most of those veterans are now dead, and the Philippines has its own government agency to care for those who are still alive.

Uncle Sam is better at opening offices than closing them, so the 100-employee office in Manila — the VA’s only foreign outpost — remains open for business.

Ninety of the workers are Filipinos, and provide a far cheaper alternative to the VA’s U.S. workers who are unionized and insist on bargaining on seemingly every management decision and contest any discipline of bad workers.

The staff is paid in pesos at rates designed to be similar to what their peers in the Pacific nation make. The average annual income in the Philippines is $2,500. Nine Americans also work at the office, with Nelson making $160,000.

Clinton balked at leaving Hamptons for major Libyan meeting – ‘Oh woe’

Hillary and her gal pals were so anxious to finish off Gaddafi who after many years had come our way in getting rid of his nukes, (bad move for him) and tolerating Israel. But Hillary wasn’t happy. She wanted her Arab Spring. For a good review try Three women who brought us the new long war in Libya

Recall Hillary’s Libya Post-War Plan Was ‘Play It by Ear,’ Gates Says?

But the really important issues—the questions longstanding followers of the U.S. and NATO intervention want answered—are: Why did Hillary Clinton push for strikes that contributed to the fall of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi? And why didn’t the Obama administration bother to plan for the all-too-predictable chaos that came next?

But with this latest E-Mail we find that she couldn’t so much as give up her vacation. Hillary Clinton was not pleased that her Aug. 2011 Hamptons vacation was to be interrupted by a trip to Paris to discuss efforts to help Libya’s transitional government, emails released by the State Department on Friday show.

Oh, woe,” Clinton lamented in an Aug. 22, 2011 email to Huma Abedin, her longtime aide. “If I have to, I will fly at night, go to mtg and fly right back — to and from Long Island. Can our plane land and takeoff from W’Hampton?”

Clinton and former President Bill Clinton were scheduled to spend the week at the 12,000 square foot East Hampton mansion of New York City real estate developer Elie Hirschfield.

The meeting in question was no minor affair. According to a statement at the time by State Departments spokeswoman Victoria Nuland, the event was a gathering of the Contact Group on Libya, a group of western nations and members of the Arab League that was created to help the Libyan National Transitional Council.

Trump threatens Chicago Cubs owner for donating money against him

Is this really what we are going to have in the White House? Threats? What will the IRS become? An extortion wing of the Presidential Palace? All because someone ran ads against him? Keep in mind no matter how enchanted one is with the Trump, his ratings with all of the voters will not get him to the finish line. Okay, he can get the GOP nomination. What then I ask. Then there is Cruz or Rubio. With their own problems, Oh boy. This is going to be something.

Seems the Donald is furious that Marlene Ricketts, wife of billionaire J. Joe Ricketts, had contributed a reported $3 million to a super PAC that had been hammering the GOP frontrunner with negative ads ahead of the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire and South Carolina primaries.

“I hear the Rickets [sic] family, who own the Chicago Cubs, are secretly spending $’s against me. They better be careful, they have a lot to hide!” Trump presidentially threatened tweeted Monday.

According to USA Today, the group that received Ricketts’ money, Our Principles PAC, is run by Katie Packer, who helped manage Mitt Romney’s failed bid for the White House in 2012.
