The Obama administration is moving to increase and accelerate the number of Syrian refugees who might be admitted into the United States by opening new screening outposts in Iraq and Lebanon, administration officials told Reuters on Friday.
“We want to be in a place where we can push out really ambitious goals,” said one of the officials, who spoke to Reuters on the condition of anonymity.
The move comes after President Barack Obama pledged in September to admit an additional 10,000 Syrian refugees in 2016, torn by four years of civil war and disorder.
The U.S. State Department confirmed the plans to open a refugee settlement processing centre in Erbil, Iraq, before the end of 2015, and to resume refugee processing in Lebanon in early 2016, said spokeswoman Danna Van Brandt.
The White House would not say how many additional refugees it may take in beyond the 10,000, but two senior administration officials said they are seeking ways to increase the number.
The State Department runs nine screening centres worldwide that serve as meeting points for refugees and U.S. Department of Homeland Security employees who have to decide who is suitable for resettlement in the United States.
The additional centres will double the number available to refugees in the Middle East.
Most Syrians are now screened for potential U.S. resettlement at centres in Istanbul and Amman, Jordan. The new centres are designed to “increase the channels” the United States has for reaching Syrian refugees, the official said.

How does one screen refugees when there are no records on 99.999999% of Syrian refugees? I know … silly question. The same way Obama became president without having any verifiable records.

Hillary Clinton is just what the doctor ordered as regards continuing Obama’s betray and destroy America agenda. The one glaring difference between the two may be Obama’s being an Islamist jihadist driven by his ideology while Clinton is in it for the money. And Wall Street seems to be satisfied with what she brings to the table.
What I find to be really irritating is the media’s constant echoing of Obama’s comments that the Paris attacks are an attack on the civilized world and our hearts and minds blah blah blah and we’ll get those bad boys while he continues to give window dressing to the fight against terrorism. So let’s bring over the jihadist sleepers from Syria, give them subsidized housing, SS and welfare benefits so they may live comfortably while plotting to blow us up. Gee, we’re no better than the United Kingdom. The difference is that the English also give their muslim refugees/immigrants SUV’s.
P.S. FNC’s endless crawlers on the screen displaying Obama’s phony, meaningless and empty comments have turned me off and now I have turned FNC off.

I often wonder if at the time of Rome’s fall, the same statements as yours were coming from the few. Trying desperately to save themselves, yet knowing the end was coming. We have one more election. Then it is done. If the GOP doesn’t take this up… then we will know it is hopeless.

Apologies. I was referring only to the hope that the GOP would save our country. Not sure about the reference to 9/11. That was a horrible crime. I wish there had been more actual justice done for the survivors and their families.

Whatever Hillary endorses, you know we should do the opposite. In this case, bringing in 65,000 Syrians – some significant percentage of whom will be jihadists – is national suicide. Look at Sweden, or Germany, or France to see the expected results. Look also at Arab nations like Saudi Arabia, where people should care more about their Arab cousins in Syria – yet the Saudis refuse to take in Syrian refugees because it would be “destabilizing.” No kidding. Hillary and Obama (and Merkel and others) seem to be obeying a NWO elite who aim to destroy the West. Wake up!
