(Reuters) – The House of Representatives approved full fiscal-year funding for the U.S. domestic security agency on Tuesday, dealing a blow to conservative Republicans who had wanted the bill to include language blocking President Barack Obama’s recent executive orders on immigration. (167 GOPers voted no)
The House, in a 257-167 vote, backed a Senate-passed funding bill stripped of any immigration provisions, ending a bitter fight that raised new questions about House Speaker John Boehner’s ability to manage fractious conservatives and brought the agency within hours of a partial shutdown last week.
Obama has said he will sign the funding bill for the Department of Homeland Security, which spearheads domestic counterterrorism efforts. Spending authority for the department was scheduled to end at midnight onFriday.More at Reuters

Guys, they had to pass a bill the President would sign. That’s how things work. That’s our Constitution in action. There are other bills the Congress passed and the President signed that relate to this. For instance, certain workers would have, by law, to continue working without pay and then be paid back pay at some point. Eventually, the bill had to be passed and signed. That’s called “being responsible,” something you cons have no understanding of whatsoever. So, you guys may not like our form of constitutional republic, but that is the way it works. Tough s#!t.

Corruption is built in to our political system. Any house member that doesn’t give the Speaker what he or she wants ends up on a committee no one has ever heard of and remains buried there unless or until he or she learns how to play ball. Buried on a committee no one has ever heard of means not having any bragging rights back home with the voters. This is something we brought with us from the British Parliament, which means corruption has been with us for a while. And by the way, none of “we the people” chose Pelosi or Boehner as Speaker, which is yet another example of how citizens only get to participate in the political process for 12 hours every two years.

Same here. I am going to write him and ask him to take me off his mailing list. He has a spot on the former Issa’s committee and gets a lot of face time during hearings. He is not going to give that up and that is what I will tell him.
