UPDATE:
Accused cop killer and one of the FBI’s most wanted fugitives Eric Frein has been captured alive, sources told ABC News tonight.
Both a federal law enforcement source and a Pennsylvania law enforcement source confirmed that Frein in custody.
It has been “a very good day,” the Pennsylvania law enforcement source said.
Frein had eluded authorities since Sept. 12, when he allegedly killed one Pennsylvania state trooper and injured another during an ambush of the Blooming Grove police barracks.
Police had conducted a manhunt for weeks in the surrounding woods.

Another clusterf*** from the Pennsylvania State Police. Seven weeks and counting as martial law continues in NE PA. Okay, I am about the only blogger on this story, but what the heck. Here is the latest update. For my full screed wander over to
Martial law in NE PA remains over Cop Killer Frein, call it what you like.
This balloon thing was supposed to see three miles, but heck, they forgot they were over woods. In the clip, the mentioned Frein “look-alike” was assaulted by the jack boots and ended up at the hospital, but you will notice they break it off as he discusses he has been stopped over twenty times. The reason for raising the money? The assault.
On Monday, Pennsylvania State Police announced they were using a device similar to a weather balloon in their search for the suspect in the deadly ambush of a state trooper.
Two days later, police have decided to deflate the surveillance balloon, citing ineffectiveness.
Trooper Tom Kelly, a state police spokesman, said the device has been returned to the Ohio Department of Transportation, which had donated the use of the large, unmanned Mylar device.
“Due to the tree canopy and rugged terrain of our search area, the balloon was not as helpful as everyone hoped it would be,” Kelly said.

Glad to hear he has been caught, now these people can get their lives back. It is very disheartening that nobody seemed to care what was going on there and almost nobody thought this story was worth covering.

Sort of like our government, isn’t it? I know NOTHING about the wooded areas, I know even less about how to capture someone hiding in the woods, but I THINK I’D KNOW THAT A CANOPY OF TREES ISN’T CONDUCIVE TO SURVEILLANCE FROM THE AIR OF ANY KIND! I wonder how much it cost the gov’t of PA to PAY FOR THAT and decide it’s obviously not workable!?
When ISIS comes, they’ll sure know where THEY should hide, huh? YIkes.

What should we expect? After all billions of $$$ worth of the the most technologically advanced and sophisticated warplanes can’t find 35,000 to 50,000 ISIS guys in the middle of a barren desert.

Nice one Peter. I don’t know why they don’t just shoot some agent orange up his tail. Anything goes to catch this alleged cop killer.

They thought the balloon might land on a house or a witch or something and with Halloween being cancelled they just had to stop. Not to worry, divining rods and a ouija boards are up next.

Love it Matrix. Maybe they could bring in a psychic. The woods must be getting plenty warn down. Not a deer to be found in a 5 mile radius. Hunting season has gone to crap!:)

Bunkervill e – I am beginning to see others carry this story. It was actually in my local newspaper which shocked the hell out of me. Battlefield USA put post up a couple of days ago. Anyway – back to the reality of this crap. What do you think is going on. What is this now, going on seven weeks?
Trying to look past what seems to be the obvious I have decided gov is actually setting up a safe-haven/attack center/shelter/bunker for themselves or something under the guise of looking for Frein. Of course there have been no reports of bulldozers etc going in so I’m sure I’m way off base – but – fact is, this is not making any sense!

I am glad to hear a few more are spending some time. One thing is that they are trying out all of their toys on this. The locals tell me they have seen all kinds of bizarre “new” equipment. They continue to search the exact same radius over and over again. This with up to a thousand men/women.The locals are sick of it. Can’t tell yet, but there is more to the story then this.

One could laugh at the Keystone Cop antics if it were not so serious. Where is the FBI and the DHS? I thought they had formed “fusion centers” with the locals across the nation.

The locals are licking their chops at the thought of $!75,000 reward. They would be more than happy to have a bit of a hunting “drive.” Worse, they have closed hunting in a number of townships.
