Obama’s latest Rule: Control of Zoning laws, and a ‘Refugee’ in your neighborhood

It was only a matter of time until this regime got their grimy little fingers into our Zoning Laws, and it looks like they figured out a two-fer with this one. Not only will be they able to inject the so-called “refugees’ into every nook and cranny of our towns and cites, under the threat of lawsuits they will have their way in which we determine how we live. How many towns will be willing to front millions of dollars to fight the government? Section 8 housing, coming next door to you real soon. Anyone want to bet they will go after GOP towns and cities? Got to get the Dem voters in there don’t you know. Here we go:

The Obama administration, in July 2013, quietly introduced a new regulation that critics say will dramatically increase Washington’s power over local zoning laws in every city and town that accepts federal block grants through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

The proposed rule, which is set to take effect in October, would put teeth on the Fair Housing Act of 1968 by providing a set of standards, guidelines and goals, then use data to “measure” and “assess” how well a local community is meeting its Fair Housing obligations.

Disparate impact is a legal doctrine employed by the Fair Housing Act that says any policy can be labeled as discriminatory if it has a ‘disproportionate adverse impact’ against any minority group.

“The way it would work, any zoning that would have a disparate impact on immigrant communities, despite their being based on sensible reflection of good faith and people just wanting to make sure their communities are protected, would be impacted by these regulations,” Fitton said.

For example, if a city’s zoning laws favor home ownership as opposed to renting or favor single-family homes over multifamily apartments, it would be susceptible to allegations of a disparate impact on minorities. That could trigger a lawsuit, which then forces a zoning change and construction of new Section 8, government-subsidized apartments in middle-class suburban neighborhoods.

And it’s the federal grants that could be used as a hook in the nose of these cities, forcing them to house illegal immigrants against their will.

Some are calling it the “Common Core of local zoning” that has flown under the radar for nearly a year. Instead of the U.S. Department of Education dictating education standards to local school districts, this rule change would allow HUD to influence zoning laws from the biggest cities down to the tiniest towns.

HUD’s proposed “Affirmatively Furthering Fair Housing Rule” showed up in the Federal Register on July 19, 2013. The rule has the backing of special-interest groups that promote open borders. One such group, with close ties to President Obama, is the Council of La Raza, which filed a public comment in favor of the rule.

UPDATE: Americans for Limited Government has posted an “action alert” asking Americans to contact their U.S. senators and ask them to defund the Obama HUD rule before it takes effect on Oct. 1

[…] If everyone can’t have a single home, then no one will have one. A Utopian dream or an American nightmare? But we knew this was coming didn’t we? Take that we racist, bigoted gun loving knuckle draggers. The first step was the earlier Supremes ruling – turning nice neighborhoods into ghettos. Here in Northern Virginia, an attempt was recently made to establish Section 8 housing in posh McLean — housing specifically for border surgers and their extended families.

Talk about a ruckus over this! The county has not yet made a final decision on the matter, but McLean has big bucks and is fighting the measure.

NIMBY’s there in McLean — liberals everywhere and always wanting to force the rest of us to follow liberalism. But when the liberal crap touches the McLean-ites, they are not gracious or generous.

Wow, I am saddened, but thinking about it not surprised. Interesting that they have already taken care of their required Fed Register ad–amazing how productive government can be when motivated by the Left’s special interests.

How many big gov’t/Obama sycophants care that the monies used to control the process comes from the states, is regurgitated by the Feds and a portion doled out back to the states if they follow the government’s dictates.

Take the federal money, follow the federal rules. If communities don’t like it, they can turn down the money.

Beginning to remind me of Dr. Zhivago – remember his home was taken over and their only had the top portion for themselves. How may of the ruling elites will be included – none. No rezoning there!
How many people today would invite the prez and his ‘wife’ into their homes? I bet as many as who want illegals to feed and house.

Just more liberal bureaucratic blackmail (can we say that?) in the same way central planning took over and corrupted the education system from pre-k to the universities.

It’s all part of Agenda 21. My ex-hometown of St. Paul, Minnesota is deep into all this crap. They’re already taking tax dollars paid by people in the suburbs and funneling them to the city in order to eventually drive people back into living in the city.

I have a libtard “friend” in St. Paul who woke up to find a two story house built right next door to her teeny tiny bungalow, effectively cutting off all light on one side. They ripped down the existing bungalow to build this house. The lots are teeny tiny, too – maybe 40 foot, if that. You can stand on with one hand on her house and the other hand would reach the property line. So she’s all upset and thinking she’s going to be all activist on this sort of thing. I sent her information on Agenda 21 and the concept of “stack and pack” and I could almost here her sigh from 1500 miles away.

They just never learn, do they?

Lived in the suburbs W. of the Twin Cities. The farther you got away from the cities the more people had sanity … kind-of, considering the were indoctrinated under the ‘lie enablers’ mentality from childhood.
The churches (esp. Lutherans) are full board on this madness too, because they believe the ‘sin-fallen man-made religions’ and ‘co-existence’, not realizing they’re run by the ‘prince of this world’s agenda’ (fallen angels and their serpent leader). I know it all sounds like a bad fiction movie! It’s all so different than what we grew up believing, led to believe was ‘true and good’. But, when liars rule, that’s the end product – people who believe and base their reality on the lie, and it takes a lot (like a building blocking the sunlight) to jar them out of numbness!

The last few times I visited St. Paul (thank goodness I never, ever have to go there again), it was like being in a foreign country where I couldn’t speak the language. I know they’re a bit saner the further you get from the Cities. I have relatives in Hibbing/St. Cloud area and they’re all pretty conservative.
