Holder wants to know ‘Race, Sex, Disability, Age and English-Learner Status’ of problem students

So now the term is “New Guidance” as Eric Holder, and Arne Duncan and their drones continue to worm their way into our educational system. Of course, even the threat of a lawsuit against a school district causes most to cave to the Federal government. Unless they have deep pockets and can spend millions of dollars defending themselves. That why we have “winter breaks.”  Christmas? What Christmas.

“As part of this review, schools (and the federal government no doubt) may choose to examine how discipline referrals and sanctions imposed at the school compare to those at other schools, or randomly review a percentage of the disciplinary actions taken at each school on an ongoing basis to ensure that actions taken were non-discriminatory and consistent with the school’s discipline practices.” -previously reported.

The Obama administration, concerned that “zero tolerance” policies are sending too many students to court instead of the principal’s office, on Wednesday urged schools to back off — particularly in the case of minority students and other federally protected groups. “Racial discrimination in school discipline is a real problem today,” said Education Secretary Arne Duncan, who joined Attorney General Eric Holder in speaking about the new guidance. Holder said “students of color and those with disabilities” often receive “different and more severe punishment than their peers.” –

While the nation’s schools are under local control, they must follow federal civil rights and disability laws. And the new guidance for the nation’s schools could subject more of those schools to federal discrimination lawsuits. In fact, the crackdown already is happening. Full story at CNS

Local school systems rely on federal monies. With those federal monies comes federal control — ever encroaching federal control.

Furthermore, those federally-assisted programs are sacred cows. Local systems cannot enact any budget cuts affecting those programs.😦

Excellent point you brought out. We must turn our schools back to local control if we are ever to get out of the mire many of our poor students find themselves in.

It is unfortunate that most of that money is coming from the federal trough. I live in a town where they tear down perfectly good buildings every year. If they don’t abuse the system, they won’t have another opportunity when they really need the money. Personally, the Dept of Ed should be abolished. I think kids were far better off 70 years ago. If they left school in 5th grade, they actually could read, write and do basic math. They can’t even do that in college today (that’s why there are so many remedial classes).

This is what Holder et al believes in subsidizing?

These people just can’t leave well enough alone. They insist on finding something racist about everything that happens in our lives. If only they really cared for the people they claim to represent, they would realize they are doing much more damage than good by emphasizing these false narratives of racism. When real racism comes along, it is drowned out by the din and clamor.

Once one looks through the prism of racism, one can find it everywhere. The schools will soon be turned into the lord of the flies, with no one in control.

Could it be that more minorities are problem children than are white students? Of course it is racist to even suggest such a thing…..

Only a government agency and its overseer can take a problem with innumerable tentacles spawned by 60 years of government interference, micromanaging. and social engineering and reduce the cause to racism, insensitivity and bias on every level by those trying to maintain stability in the ever increasing chaos rampant in an institution which the government appears to want to break down and restructure as an arm of the
Socialist- Marxist -communist -progressive (take your pick) movement. Que domage. Oops, this is america so we should say !Que lastima!
