France should allow doctors to “accelerate the coming of death” for terminally ill patients, a report to President Francois Hollande recommended Tuesday.
Hollande referred the report to a national council on medical ethics which will examine the precise circumstances under which such steps could be authorised with a view to producing draft legislation by June 2013.
“The existing legislation does not meet the legitimate concerns expressed by people who are gravely and incurably ill,” Hollande said. France 24
Belgium is considering a significant change to its decade-old euthanasia law that would allow minors and Alzheimer’s sufferers to seek permission to die. Just how do these patients seek permision? Just asking.
The proposed changes to the law were submitted to parliament Tuesday by the Socialist party and are likely to be approved by other parties, although no date has yet been put forward for a parliamentary debate.
“The idea is to update the law to take better account of dramatic situations and extremely harrowing cases we must find a response to,” party leader Thierry Giet said.
He said parliamentarians would also consider extended mercy-killing to people suffering from Alzheiner’s-type illnesses.

This is so true and so sad. There is an MD in our area who is so disgusted with Obamacare that he is doing speaking engagements with a slide show to try to alert people to what is coming. He is very eloquent and factual. He usually ends his presentation with the admonition that he used to believe he would die of old age and natural causes, but he now believes he will not have that opportunity. This nation is full of idiots who voted in this tyranny. But then, you would think Europe, having seen this up close and personal in mid-twentieth century, would have learned something. Guess not.

The elderly and the sick are out of luck with Obamacare and Belguim’s easy death health care plan. The people that think the Left cares are just kidding themselves. The people need to look at the evidence and wake up to the reality that the progressives are clueless about the concept of human dignity and they need to realize that rationing under government heath care (much worse than under private insurance companies) which will be to the detriment of the elderly and sick.

The Left wants all who don’t contribute to the greater good to be eliminated. That’s the way of utopians, you know.
My mother-in-law has very advanced Alzheimer’s and is receiving only hospice-like care. I agree with that approach in her case. She’s, well, vegetative. But euthanize her? That would be murder.
Sometimes, I do wonder if all our medical advances haven’t been problematic. There is a time to die — determined by our Creator.
