Earlier we posted the Drumbeat starts for more engagement in Sudan. Check out the post for the back story.
The forces will deploy beginning with a small group and grow over the next month to 100. They will ultimately go to Uganda, South Sudan, the Central African Republic, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, with the permission of those countries
The Kony 2012, and #STOPKONY had Twitter all ablaze. Then the matter become a cause celeb with Grorge Cloony et al, stomping around encouraging us to do “something” which never really has become clear. A new story out this morning from Accuracy in Media sheds more light on our new undeclared war and our sending troops and ammo. Now we are operating under the United Nations and the International Criminal Court for all intent and purpose.
You may not have heard of PSD-10 because it has received no significant coverage from the major media. Yet, President Obama issued “Presidential Study Directive 10” last August 4, 2011, and posted it on the White House website. It amounts to a new and potentially far-reaching exercise of American military power cloaked in humanitarian language and conducted under the auspices of the United Nations and the International Criminal Court.
Under this new “Obama doctrine,” U.S. troops can be deployed to arrest or even terminate individuals wanted by the International Criminal Court, which is based on a treaty that has not been ratified by the U.S. Senate and isn’t even up for Senate consideration.
In regard to seeking Kony’s “removal,” Obama told Congress, “I have directed this deployment, which is in the national security and foreign policy interests of the United States, pursuant to my constitutional authority to conduct U.S. foreign relations and as Commander in Chief and Chief Executive.”
Members of the public haven’t heard of PSD-10, but they may have heard of a decision Obama made on October 14, 2011, when he informed Congress that he had authorized “a small number of combat equipped U.S. forces to deploy to central Africa to provide assistance to regional forces that are working toward the removal of Joseph Kony from the battlefield.” More over at Accuracy in Media

And what exactly are our interests over there? Amazing that he gets a free pass while sending our troops all across the globe fighting for reasons that nobody can define.

Yet another war with a dubious cause, and probably an even more dubious conclusion.
Just what we need.

The only thing I can think of is his Marxist cousin Odinga may want to try again and be President of Kenya.

I have a friend who emailed me that she thinks this Kony /Obama thing is all to get money for Obama’s campaign, and there is PLENTY of money…also, libs think it’s wonderful to send troops to stop atrocities unless Republicans think of it, so it’s a little of that “How wonderful of Obama to CARE” stuff, too….there are lots of questions regarding the fund raising by the filmmakers. I think she’s a little extreme, but who knows?

It makes about as much sense as Obama opening up the bottom end of the Pipeline that was already approved. I really think his grasp of reality is meager at best. Just a borg acting out his orders. We shall see about this, but more to it than meets the eye.

Great, another war. We’re broke, we’re hated around the world, and now we’re going off into a war that will kill a large number of civilians, all in the name of protecting civilians! The military-industrial complex has us by the throat, and they won’t let go easily. They, along with the banks, own this country. The political parties are just their pawns.

Very true. Our economy suffers because of what they are doing. I guess in this sense it’s metaphorical blood, but it is still pretty bad.

Eisenhower and Kennedy got us into Vietnam by sending in ‘advisers’ first. Look where that got us. Slipper slope to circumvent Congressional power to declare war. And what… no main stream media coverage? They couldn’t help but cover Clooney although the explanation of what he was trying to accomplish was clear as mud.

I think I am about the only blogger out here that is making much of it. I post it from time to time as new readers pass through and hope to catch a few who might not be aware of our “new wars”. Glad to hear from you Comrade!

First it was R2P, Right to Protect, and now this. The UN says “jump” and Obama says “how high?”.
I still think he is paving the way to being the next Secretary General of the UN

If this deployment sticks to its stated purpose, which is to advice local military units that will do the actual fighting, I have no problems. We’ll see…

My issue with it is by what authority. Do we now just go around and kill people because we decide they are bad? I like the idea of Congress being involved when sending any troops to foreign soil.

Kony 2012 thing is a total plant. I can tell because of all the fake media it got in so short a time. The banking cartel wants the Praetrorian Guard to move out, so they invent any excuse to get them where they want them.

I agree, and then they drugged the guy who made the film and locked him up in a psycho ward. How is that for a tin foil hat theory? 🙂 It is all to install our military.
