Iran’s Mullahocracy is a malign influence in the world. There will always be apologist appeasers like Sir Charles who defend the raping and stoning of their own people, the bombing of Jewish centers in South America, and their reign of terror via proxies like Hezbollah.
We should have supported the dissidents when they rose up last year, but Obummer blew it. It sickens me to think about it. They should be well into a Persian Spring right now. Obummer is guilty of standing idle and watching evil on the march. What a horrible and despicable human being. He disgusts me, even moreso when I think about what is going on inside Iran and what could have been.
Iran should disgust anyone who cares about humanity and human rights. Doesn’t work, Charles? Try telling that to Iranians who want to be free while you’re sunning yourself in Southern Spain. Why didn’t you save the words and simply say “Let them eat cake?”

I know, you all want to do whatever it takes to bring down Obama but i have to say I was waiting for someone to post this one and frankly speaking, it does not work. I do not like Obama’s domestic agenda or his economics but I do support his foreign policy. Also, this subject of “Iran is tiny” came from a very sad McCain item during the DMC base on Obama’s speech in 2008.
Considering it is 2008, it really beggars to wonder why post the item in the first place. I will cut and pasta summary of how FactCheck considered the entire item at the time.
Summary
McCain’s new ad, released on Day 3 of the Democratic National Convention, quotes Obama saying that Iran is a “tiny” country that “doesn’t pose a serious threat.” It implies that he fails to see Iran’s threat to Israel.
The picture changes dramatically when Obama’s full quotes are considered:
■Obama actually said of Iran, Cuba and Venezuela: “These countries are tiny compared to the Soviet Union” (emphasis ours).
■Likewise, he said those countries don’t pose a serious threat to the United States “the way the Soviet Union posed a threat to us.”
■Obama has also said in speeches that Iran is Israel’s greatest threat, and a serious threat to the region, and he has discussed its sponsorship of terrorism.
Analysis
John McCain’s ad, “Tiny,” was sent to reporters on the third day of the Democratic convention. The McCain campaign describes it as a “television ad” that “will air in key states.” We’ll add this caveat: Some recent ads – at least one from each campaign – have received far more play on YouTube and television news shows than they have as paid advertisements. That’s a strategy that can save the campaigns boatloads of cash.

A last point, in comparison to direct threats and an ongoing cold-war, Iran is both tiny and not close to being a threat as The Soviet Union. We can add that in other ways, Iran is also not a siginficant threat – such as trade. Losing Iranian oil would have an effect on global oil, but Saudi over production can drop that down. North Korea is a greater threat – but Obama would be correct if he called that Tiny as well in that only the risk of that conflict would be the value and in the greater scheme of things – the global financial crisis is greater. Remember, this is an item from 2008.

You have little worry. The rate we are going, you will have your Obama for another 4 years. The barbarians will march your way, and the world will no longer need to worry about the U.S. anymore. I guess context was never a strong point with those on sites that are there to bash (no matter what) and I simply feel pitty.
Silverfiddle, I find you comment pretty dissapointing from the point that normally you base your arguments with a bit of history – but not your rebuttle here. Chamberlain was, for a great part, only the head of an entire Parliament that pushed appeasement. Sorry, I thought you would have known that.
If you all bother to read what I pointed out, it is three main themes. One, as much as you like to ignore it, this is from four years ago and thus his comments stand pretty firm for something for years ago. Raising it now is probably the most foolish of political ploys considering that hindsight changes everything. Also, McCain was in fact the person who tried it, but then he did so then and he was squashed for being a fear-monger-for-politics.
Make no mistake, Iran is a danger, but when you put context – then comments like “enjoy your new world” is simply somewhere over in lala-land – let alone defeatist. I do not sit on my arse, as implied, which I think is laughable from someone dictating to the world that he knows something about a world he really does not take part it (or shows no evidence), I am a barrister (lawyer in your language) specialising in social-rights and I am the first one refugees come to over here and considering that has included Iranians – has rather made that accussation not only fall flat but smell rather like one has eaten to much eggs……
So much for debate – I suspected ratbags and ratbags is what was the response.

Obama is going to continue ignoring Iran — unless he can turn a confrontation with Iran to his advantage for re-election.
Most Americans don’t have a clue as to the fact the Iran can indeed control the Strait of Hormuz and what control of that strait means.

I am with you on this totally. I would not put it past him to stir something up just prior to the election. That usually is the standard action when an incumbent needs votes. Attention goes there, and no one wants to change horses.
