Obama and his Gulfstream Jet Dog Crate for Bo -but not for Execs

Two posts today. Here is a bonus one. I could not resist. Obama and his obsession with planes. Six times he mentions planes yesterday at his presser.

Six separate mentions during today’s presser, according to Jim Geraghty. So unfair and heavy-handed is this line of attack that even lefty Greg Sargent felt obliged to gently debunk it, noting that eliminating the tax break for corporate jets would net just $3 billion over 10 years. (Bonus fun fact: The tax break for jets was introduced in Obama’s own stimulus.)More at  Hot Air

He loves his Airforce One. Is there a day he is not gallivanting about in it? It looks like flying is for thee and not for me. Let us take a spin in the way back machine for an earlier post of mine! Enjoy!

Obama’s dog flies in first on Maine Vacation

Arriving in a small jet before the Obamas was the first dog, Bo, a Portuguese water dog given as a present by the late U.S. Sen Ted Kennedy, D-Mass.; and the president’s personal aide Reggie Love, who chatted with Baldacci. Below is the Gulfstream G3 Dog Crate for Bo

Now his Presser obsession with the plane thingy:

During his press conference yesterday, the president presented his newest straw man: the tax-escaping corporate jet owner. The tax-escaping corporate jet owner is such a bad person that President Obama mentioned him six times during his press conference. He portrayed these people as “millionaires and billionaires” whose big tax breaks stand in the way of Washington adequately funding college scholarships and child safety programs. Obama lists Israel as now promoting Terrorists

True colors now emerge. ICE  lists Israel as a danger. Check out page 18 here: listing Israel It is hard to believe that there are American Jews that still support this man. Wonders never cease.

The Obama regime recently put Israel on the list of countries that support terrorism.

Yid With Lid:

Only in the twisted world of the Obama Administration, where allies are trashed, and enemies are embraced, could the tiny nation of Israel, on the front lines of the war on terror for decades, be on a list of 36 nations which “have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations or their members.”
CNSNews and Yid With Lid reported:

In an implicit admission that Israel is so threatened by terrorism that it is not only surrounded by countries and territories that produce terrorists but also unwillingly harbors terrorists within its own territory in a way the most other nations in the world do not, the Obama administration is currently listing Israel among 36 “specially designated countries” it believes “have shown a tendency to promote, produce, or protect terrorist organizations or their members.”

Also included on the list–separately from Israel–are the Palestinian territories of the West Bank and Gaza, as well as Egypt, Jordan, Syria and Lebanon, the four nations bordering Israel.

All but five of the nations included on the administration’s “specially designated country” list have majority Muslim populations (see the list below).

The five countries on the list that do not have majority Muslim populations–Kazakhstan (47 percent Muslim), Eritrea (36.5 percent Muslim), Israel (16.9 percent Muslim), the Philippines (5 percent Muslim) and Thailand (4.6 percent)–have had internal problems with radical Muslim terrorists, as reported by the State Department. Obama administration has no plan for captured terrorists

Our brave men and women capture the terrorists, risk their lives and the Commander-in-thief lets them go to kill again. I caught this story this morning on the Bill Bennett program. As he said, and to paraphrase, we are so caught up in our economic issues we are not paying attention to all that Obama is doing under the radar regarding our foreign policy and military support. Well worth reading the full story. Here tis:

The top military official involved in the raid that killed Osama bin Laden said Tuesday that the Obama administration has no clear plan for handling suspected terrorist leaders if they are caught alive outside a war zone.

In response to senators’ questions, McRaven said that “in many cases” suspects captured in secret operations by Navy SEALs or the Army’s Delta Force are taken to a U.S. Navy ship until they can be tried in a U.S. court or transferred to the custody of an allied country. But if neither option turns out to be feasible, the prisoner is ultimately let go, he said.

“If we can’t do either one of those, then we will release that individual,” McRaven said in response to a question from Sen. Lindsey O. Graham (R-S.C.). “I mean, that becomes the unenviable option, but it is an option.” Full story at Washington Post

Food Deserts in DC? Central Planning to the rescue!

Looks like the USA continues on its march toward Central Planning. I am sure the EPA will have a hand in doling out grants to get the grocery stores in the right place. Do they want Big Bad Wal-Mart to fill the need? No they don’t. Heck, thousands of jobs could be at hand. So what is the problem? Recall our earlier post? Walmart might cause young people to steal says Commisoner

The first of four Wal-Marts planned for the District where they would probably be built, the residents have more immediate, street-level concerns:

Brenda Speaks, a Ward 4 ANC commissioner, actually urged blocking construction of the planned store in her ward at Georgia and Missouri avenues NW partly because of that risk. Addressing a small, anti-Wal-Mart rally at City Hall on Monday, Speaks said young people would get criminal records when they couldn’t resist the temptation to steal.

There’ll probably be a lot of shoplifting going on. They’ll need a lot of security,” Terriea Sutton, 35, said.

Now an update from Carpe Diem with an interactive map:

The United States Department of Agriculture has recently released a “Food Desert Locator,” which is an interactive Internet mapping tool that pinpoints low-income neighborhoods across the United States with high concentrations of residents who have limited access to a local supermarket or large grocery store.  From the USDA’s May 2, 2011 press release:

“About 10 percent of the 65,000 census tracts in the United States meet the definition of a food desert. These food desert tracts contain 13.5 million people with low access to sources of healthful food. The majority of this population—82 percent—live in urban areas. Click to enlarge image.

A case in point: The pink shaded areas on the map above show the food deserts in the Washington, D.C. metro area.  Wal-Mart is planning to open four new stores next year in the Washington area, and two of them are in the city’s food deserts (see map above).

Bottom Line: If you care about poor people, are concerned about food deserts, and want more Americans to have jobs, you just gotta love Wal-Mart. For all of its ongoing efforts to eliminate food deserts and bring affordable, fresh and healthy food to poor neighborhoods across the country in cities like Chicago and Washington, D.C., I hereby nominate Wal-Mart for the 2011 Nobel Peace Prize. What liberal elites really think of the average American

But we do love and cling to our God and Guns. We will be needing them both after the Progressives get done with us.

Via Motor City Times

“”If it’s Kansas, if it’s Missouri, no big deal. You know, that’s the dance of the low-sloping foreheads. The middle places, right? [pause] Did I just say that aloud?”

The liberal elitists who used their control of the media establishment to install Barack Hussein Obama in power pride themselves on being too full of nuance to express coherent opinions. Yet when it comes to their attitudes toward normal Americans, they speak plainly enough. Here columnist David Carr of the odious New York Times sums up the ruling class’s attitude toward the denizens of Flyover Country:  Video here

George Soros buying up flooded farm land

Back on April 5, 2010 I did a post called  George Soros makes move on controlling food supply. I was following up on an excellent  post by Conservatives on Fire who included in his story that Soros was buying up Grain Elevators.

One thing COF discovered is the Trojan Horse that no one is discussing. That being the attempt at controlling of our food supply. Grain Elevator Operators for the most part can control what the farmer ends up getting paid. They are the middle man.  I suggest we stay alert on this one. It is the way many farms were lost during the depression. They would get loans from the Operators, have a bad crop one year, or the Operator claiming there were problems with his product. The farmers have no where else to take their product. They get paid what the Operator decides.

I also had done an earlier post which had some controversy with an interesting debate in the comments section:  U.S. farm subsidies- a necessary evil? .

Now from Trevor Loudon

1. File this one under “Now It All Makes Sense”. A Missouri farming and ranching contact just got off a conference call wherein he was informed that the federal government is sending out letters to all of the flooded out farmers in the Missouri River flood plain and bottoms notifying them that the Army Corps of Engineers will offer to BUY THEIR LAND.

Intentionally flood massive acreage of highly productive farmground. Destroy people’s communities and homes. Catch them while they are desperate and afraid and then swoop in and buy the ground cheap. Those evil sons of bitches.

2. Speaking of evil sons of bitches, George Soros appears to be “investing” in farmground through the same puppet company that he used to get into the grain elevator and fertilizer business. The company is called Ospraie Capital Management and is buying up farmground in a joint venture with Teays River Investments as a partner. Here is that announcement:

Okay. Here’s the connection. This Ospraie outfit was a hedge fund specializing in commodities that was started and run by some cocky child who didn’t know how to trade bear markets and got his butt kicked into next week in the grain market of 2008. He also lost a fortune trying to trade RARE EARTH METALS. In fact, it was so bad that he had to shut his fund down because he had promised his investors that he would give them all of their investment money back if the fund lost more than 30% in one year. Whoopsie.

But it appears that Soros swooped in and saved the day because this Ospraie is the “co-investor” with Soros that bought the remnants of ConAgra’s trading operation and renamed it… Gavilon. In the industry, it is widely acknowledged that Ospraie IS Soros. That three-page article citation is here, copy and paste the URL into your address bar:

As you probably remember, Gavilon just recently bought both DeBruce Grain out of Kansas City and the biggest grain elevator company in the Pacific Northwest, thus making Soros (who is the money behind Gavilon through both his own Soros Fund Management AND his de facto control of Ospraie) the third-largest grain company in the U.S. with 280 million bushels of storage capacity, behind only Archer Daniels Midland (542 million bushels storage capacity) and Cargill (344 million bushels storage capacity). That citation is here:

Bottom line: Soros, through Ospraie, is buying up farmground. Please also note that the hotlink citation above is dated June 26, 2009. My contact says this has been going on for two years – and also remember what I told you about farmground prices inflating wildly, especially in Illinois. I have personally confirmed farmground in Illinois selling for $13,000 per acre within the last month, whereas that same kind of ground in Illinois was going for $5500 per acre the day Obama was inaugurated.

Spread the word. Trevor Loudon

Libyan War and the Kinetic Action Congress

I must admit my old PTSD kicked into action seeing McCain back in gear. The old geezer was doing his best to give Obama cover over his escapade in Libya. “My dear friends” he says, “Friends”, no sir, you are not my friend. Fairly or not, I do blame you for this disgusting mess you helped put our country in. Obama did not come to Congress regarding his freaking Kinetic Action. Forget the debate over the the legalities. In today’s world, there is no reason at all not to come before Congress. It is not 1776 when Congress was partially in session, and members many difficult miles away. So, Mr. McCain, go back into your box. Thanks for everything, war hero or not. Ok, now I said it, and am glad I did.  They let Obama off the mat in November, now once again. If the GOP was not going to defund, then why give Obama any cover? Obama went to NATO. Then let NATO and Obama hang alone with the aftermath of his adventure. Here tis:

President Barack Obama could not ask for a more helpful “opposition” party in charge of the House of Representatives. For the second time this month House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) has maneuvered to prevent Congress from demanding that Obama abide by the Constitution’s requirement that wars be initiated by the legislative branch, not the executive. Furthermore, in seeking a middle ground between the patently irreconcilable options of enforcing the Constitution and adhering to the bipartisan consensus in favor of untrammeled presidential intervention abroad, Boehner has ensured that Obama’s illegal war in Libya continues indefinitely.

Indeed, as Politico put it, the House of Representatives’ latest expression of opposition to Obama’s war is “a rebuke the White House can live with.” On Friday the House voted overwhelmingly — 295 to 123, with 70 Democrats among the 295 No voters — against a resolution supporting the Libya mission that is similar to a Senate resolution sponsored by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and John McCain (R-Ariz.). An hour later, however, it also turned down a measure that would have prohibited funding of certain operations in Libya. That bill failed, 238 to 180, a victim of Boehner’s attempts at compromise.

U.S. Spends $2.5 Bil On “Social Equity” Program

Here we go with an update on how things are going with redistribution of our wealth. Looks like we are right on track. My earlier post Sustainable Communities to restrict where we live last August in 2010 gave us a heads up with the program. Central Planning:

“The administration has already allocated billions of dollars since June 2009, when the interagency partnership was announced, to various grant programs designed to push local governments to make planning decisions that fall in line with Obama’s neighborhood planning goals”.

Isn’t it the best? A great post on Obama’s Rural Council just implemented  at My Tea Party Chronicle. Thanks to Conservatives on Fire for sending me over.

What I find most amazing, is that the Obama regime tells us exactly what their plans are. I am at a loss how the EPA is involved in all of this. The GOP fails to respond. Here tis:

Judicial Watch:

The Obama Administration is celebrating the second anniversary of its imaginative program to bring “social equity” to underserved communities by bragging that three federal agencies have doled out more than $2.5 billion in “assistance.”

The taxpayer dollars help low-income communities improve access to affordable housing, increase transportation options and lower transportation costs while protecting the environment. At least that’s how the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) describes it in a press release. Keep in mind that this is the same agency that has spent enormous sums to bring “environmental justice” to poor communities.

While related to that mission, this particular project—known as Partnership for Sustainable Communities—is separately funded (with taxpayer money of course) and aims to promote “equitable development” while addressing the “challenges of climate change.” To accomplish this, communities must create and maintain “economic and environmental health” by, among other things “promoting social equity.”

This is clearly another publicly funded, Obama Administration program that aims to redistribute wealth. There are too many to name here, but follow Judicial Watch’s investigations to see some of the outrageous projects that this administration is funding with tax dollars. Obama even created the first-ever White House Rural Council to promote economic prosperity and quality of life for the poor. More here at Judicial Watch

Obama and the Oil Reserve

Great News…. I smell the fragrance of Oil…..the Oil of Obama….enjoy!

CBS has a great review of the history of Obama and his special relationship with oil. His view depends on the day. Hey, he wants to be re-elected. Who cares about the Nation’s reserves.  Here tis:

A few of the more memorable statements from Mr. Obama, compiled by Bonney Kapp of CBS News.

August 16, 2005:

“I know that everybody’s getting killed by these higher gas prices, but we need to hold on to that reserve,” he said. “If the Saudi Arabian monarchy was overthrown and our imports were cut off, you’d be looking at $8- to $9-a-gallon gasoline.” (From an Aug. 17, 2005 article in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch)

August 31, 2005:

“The reserve should only be used in the event of an emergency, and that we shouldn’t be tapping the reserve to provide a small, short-term decrease in gas prices.”

July 7, 2008:

“You have a situation let’s say where there was a major oil facility in Saudi Arabia that was destroyed as a consequence of terrorist acts and you suddenly had huge amounts of oil taken off…taken out of the world market. We wouldn’t just be seeing $4/gallon oil [sic], we could see a situation where entire sectors of country had no oil to function at all and that’s what the strategic oil reserve has to be for.”

August 4, 2008:

“We should sell 70 million barrels of oil from our Strategic Petroleum Reserve for less expensive crude, which in the past has lowered gas prices within two weeks.”

Later in the day, on his campaign plane, on August 4, 2008:

“I historically have been very hesitant about that but the idea of a swap actually I think has merit in terms of just short-term effect on prices. I offer no sort of suggestion that in any way that it’s going to make a long term impact on the fact that demand worldwide is going up and supply is flat lined at best. And we’re going to have to make some enormous adjustments, so the question is, if we’re replacing some light crude coming out with some heavier crude going in, is that going to have some effect on short-term supplies to provide people some relief? I think that that’s very different from saying we’re going to raid the highway trust fund and there’s no prospects of immediate relief and if there was then at most it’s 30 cents a day.”

March 11, 2011:

“So we’re going to try to do everything we can not only to stabilize the market, as I said, to the extent that we see any efforts to take advantage of these price spikes through price gouging, we’re going to go after that. If we see significant disruptions or, you know, shifts in the market that are — are so disconcerting to people that we think a Strategic Petroleum Reserve release might be appropriate, then we’ll take that step. And we’re going to monitor very closely
