Mandatory Insurance for Dogs

It is getting be old hat these days. The absurdity continues. Everyone now feels a need to dictate to others how they should live their lives, requirements for good living. Oh, maybe an insurance lobbyist or two had a hand in this? Why not just get rid of Fido? That is what will happen with this idea. Fewer folks having any Fidos over 20lbs.

“Motorists are already required to carry auto insurance in Texas, the new health care bill requires that every American carry health insurance, and now there’s a new mandate in the works—dog insurance”. Radio WOAL

From Moonbattery:

State Rep. Ruth Jones McClendon (D-San Antonio) has introduced a bill that would require any Texan who owns a male dog which weighs 20 pounds or more and is not neutered to have an insurance policy covering injuries or damage caused by that dog when it is off the leash or out of the dog’s yard, 1200 WOAI’s Michael Board reports. …

“This does not in any way penalize dogs, or prevent people from enjoying the benefits of dog ownership,” she said.

Of course it does. Anything the government makes more expensive and complicated through regulation, it to some extent prevents. This why as Big Government grows still more gargantuan with every passing day, our lives get correspondingly smaller.
