Donald Berwick just renominated to head Obamacare

Hot Air reports

The White House just renominated Dr. Don Berwick to head the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services. We heard we were going to get along, and he was moving to the center. Onward to his Marxist goals. Perhaps for the best. Now if he gets in front of the Senate, folks will find out how he really feels about the very young and the very old.

The move is yet another point in the contentious health care repeal debate on Capitol Hill. Republicans strongly objected to Berwick’s recess appointment last year, pointing to his previous comments in support of the British health system and rationing with “eyes open” or closed.

“The decision is not whether or not we will ration care — the decision is whether we will ration with our eyes open,” Berwick said in a June 2009 interview with Biotechnology Healthcare.

“Any health care funding plan that is just equitable civilized and humane must, must redistribute wealth from the richer among us to the poorer and the less fortunate. Excellent health care is by definition redistributional.”

( — Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius said on Wednesday that Dr. Donald Berwick, an advocate of health-care rationingnominated by President Barack Obama to run Medicare and Medicaid, is “absolutely the right leader at this time” to run the government’s largest health-care entitlement programs.

Under the health-care reform law signed by President Obama in March, hundreds of billions of dollars will be cut from the Medicare program over the next decade. Berwick is nominated to run the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), which oversees Medicare.

Vote Tally Count Ends Donations to Presidential Election Campaigns

From Gov Track:

H.R. 359 To reduce Federal spending and the deficit by terminating taxpayer financing of presidential election campaigns and party conventions.

Amends the Internal Revenue Code to terminate: (1) the taxpayer election to designate $3 of income tax liability for financing of presidential election campaigns; (2) the Presidential Election Campaign Fund; and (3) the Presidential Primary Matching Payment Account.

Eager to cut spending, the Republican-controlled House voted to end multimillion-dollar federal subsidies for presidential candidates and national political conventions on Wednesday, the first of what party leaders promised will be weekly, bite-sized bills to attack record deficits.

The 239-160 vote sent the measure — and the fate of the familiar $3 check-off box on income tax returns — to the Senate, which is controlled by the Democrats.

Obama pushes truckers into Teamsters Union via ‘green emissions requirements’

Just think of the imagination that is required to achieve Obama’s agenda. Do they lay awake night dreaming up all of the various and sundry ways of filling up the union ranks? Hearing our liar in chief last night, and reading this today, causes one to wonder…. when will these stories become the focus of the Republicans? These are the stories that need to be told. Here tis:
….each of the major port authorities won’t let them in if they don’t fit the new environmental regulations, which would force many independent truckers out of business if they resist since many truckers depend on business from the ports to survive. President Barack Obama’s administration is using new “environmental standards” to force independent owner-operator truckers into becoming part of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters, a union that gave more than $2 million to Democrats in the last two election cycles.

By increasing the number of “green” requirements truckers have to comply with in order to get into some major United States ports — like Los Angeles, Long Beach and Oakland — the Obama administration and the Environmental Protection Agency are helping push previously independent truckers into companies, which then makes them vulnerable to unionization or, in many cases, forced to join a union. As these aren’t administrative laws from the EPA per se, trucks that don’t fit this new “green” standard, which is meeting at least 2007 EPA emissions levels, are still allowed to operate throughout the country. But each of the major port authorities won’t let them in if they don’t fit the new environmental regulations, which would force many independent truckers out of business if they resist since many truckers depend on business from the ports to survive.

Utah to adopt Browning M1911 pistol as first ever state gun

So nice to hear some good news from the front. Utah, a state where the 2nd Amendment is doing well. This should wee wee up the Beltway.

Utah is on the verge of becoming the first US state to select an official gun, to honour the memory of Joseph Browning, the inventor of the M1911 pistol.

The bill to make the Browning M1911 the official state gun breezed through a committee hearing this week and is scheduled to be debated by Utah’s House of Representatives as early as Wednesday.

Republican Rep. Carl Wimmer told the committee that the state should have the gun as one of its state symbols to honour John Browning, a Utah native who invented it in 1911. :Telegraph

Here is a great profile of Mr. Browning who was one of the most prolific inventors of guns: For the Complete history it is here: Profile here

His inventions included the machine gun and the automatic rifle, which revolutionised hunting and warfare.

Born in 1855, Mr Browning learned gunsmithing at his father’s shop in Ogden, Utah. From an early age, he showed interest in designing new, innovative firearms than repairing weapons. He built his first weapon at just age 14, a single-shot rifle for his brother, Matt.

In 1879, Mr Browning and his brothers started their own shop, using steam-powered tools to produce more sophisticated weapons than they had been able to build by hand. He received his first patent the same year, for a breech-loading single-shot rifle.
