Labor Department Grant Will Help Jobless Virginians Pay Their Health Insurance

What the……. how is it we are just hearing about this now? What does the IRS have to do with this? National Emergency Grants? Trade Adjustment Assistance Grants? Health Coverage Tax Credit Pregram?

“The National Emergency Grant announced on Wednesday will be used to make “gap” payments until the IRS can enroll the “trade-affected workers” in its HCTC program. “

The Trade Adjustment Assistance program provides aid to workers who lose their jobs or whose work hours and wages are reduced as a result of increased imports.

The Health Coverage Tax Credit program, which falls under the Internal Revenue Service, makes health insurance more affordable for “trade-affected workers.” Specifically, the tax credit allows qualified individuals to pay only 20 percent of their health insurance premiums.

Funding for the $3-million National Emergency Grant was authorized under the stimulus law – the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. National Emergency Grants are part of the secretary of labor’s discretionary fund.

The U.S. Department of Labor is using taxpayer (stimulus) money to help 1,868 jobless Virginians pay part of their health insurance premiums.

“The challenges associated with a job search are stressful enough without worrying about a lack of health insurance if the job seeker or a family member falls ill or needs medical attention,” said Secretary of Labor Hilda L. Solis in an Oct. 20 news release. “Helping these Virginians maintain insurance coverage as they seek re-employment is one way we can ensure the state’s working families get the support they need and deserve.”

The grant money will be used to make insurance payments for unemployed Virginians who are receiving Trade Adjustment Assistance benefits and who are eligible for – but not yet receiving assistance from — the Health Coverage Tax Credit program.

Kiss Free Speech Goodbye- Juan Williams fired from NPR

Let’s see the difference. Obama’s statements regarding his grandmother and Juan Williams regarding Muslims. We report, you decide.

Are Juan Williams’ statements worse that Obama’s regarding his grandmother?”

“My grandmother… is a typical white person. If she sees somebody on the street that she doesn’t know, there’s a reaction in her that doesn’t go away and it comes out in the wrong way.”

I think Big Journalism nailed it.

George Soros donates $1 Mil to Huffington Post

UPDATE: Check out our new post: Huffington Post sold to AOL:

Does George Soros money come with the AOL Sale?

American Spectator: Soros buddy funds Huffington Post

The program’s startup budget will be $1.75 million. The money will be provided by the Huffington Post and the Atlantic Philanthropies. The Bermuda-based Atlantic Philanthropies is headed by Gara LaMarche, who used to be a vice president of liberal uber-philanthropist George Soros’s Open Society Institute. LaMarche is a member of Soros’s Democracy Alliance, a billionaires’ club that is organizing to impose socialism on America.

And then we have Media Matters:

According to the New York Times, Media Matters initially received “more than $2 million in donations from wealthy liberals” with ties to the Democratic party (including Peter Lewis, Steve Bing, Marcy Carsey, Susie Tompkins Buell, Leo Hindrey, Gail Furman, and James Hormel).[16][17][18] Byron York said Media Matters received an unspecified amount of funding from, and the New Democrat Network.[18]

In 2004 Media Matters received the endorsement of the Democracy Alliance. Though the Alliance does not make direct donations to organizations, its endorsement resulted in direct donations to MMfA from Alliance members.[19][20][21] In October 2010 Alliance founding member George Soros announced his first donation to Media Matters. When I caught Glenn Beck yesterday, he was hyperventilating about ole Georgie…. I was half paying attention, as I listened to his usual, about the Tides Foundation, et al.. When I checked out Huffington Post this morning, wow, he was right on. Then I read that Juan William was fired from NPR because of some statements he made on O’Reilly. Beck stated that NPR had received mony from Soros to hire 125 additional news reporters.

Big Journalism now reports “The left-wing Open Society Foundations is donating the large sum to NPR for a project being called “Impact of Government.” The project is planning to add at least 100 reporters across the country to cover local state house politics to fill the holes left by the firing of so many local reporters due to the contraction in the field of journalism over the last decade.”

Did this seal Juan Williams fate? This is really getting heavy duty. This is right from the Huff:

Billionaire philanthropist George Soros has donated $1 million to Media Matters for America in an effort to fight Fox News.

Soros, a prominent Democratic fundraiser and donor, is a frequent target of Fox News hosts, particularly Glenn Beck. He said in a statement that he is donating the money — his first donation to the group — because of “recent evidence suggesting that the incendiary rhetoric of Fox News hosts may incite violence’.

Soros funds the Tides Foundation, the organization recently targeted by an assassin who claimed to have been inspired by Beck’s program.

“The next ‘assassin’ may succeed, and if so, there will be blood on many hands,” Tides Foundation CEO Drummond Pike said, urging advertisers to boycott Beck’s program.

On his radio show Wednesday, which is not aired by Fox News, Beck accused Soros of having “collapsed four economies” and of having “global governance plans.” hffington Post here
