ATF Seizes 30 Dangerous BB Guns

Now this is a story for Comrade Lockandload: “With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun,” Crenshaw said. BB Guns turned into machine guns. Ah, let me think about this for…one second. First they come for the BB guns, then??

A local business owner is flabbergasted after a shipment of 30 toy guns for his store was confiscated by ATF agents in Tacoma.

Brad Martin and his son, Ben, sell the Airsoft BB guns from their store in Cornelius where they’ve been in business for seven years.

The Martins said they buy their stock from Taiwan because the merchandise is less expensive. But the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives seized a shipment of 30 in October. That shipment is worth around $12,000 and the ATF is promising to destroy the entire shipment.

Special Agent Kelvin Crenshaw said the toys can be easily retro-fitted into dangerous weapons.

Brad Martin is furious about the loss of money, for sure, but also in what he now thinks as a loss of his time and the use of government agents to seize toy guns.

“All this manpower, all this time, all this taxpayer money, [it is] wasting my time and my profitability,” Martin said. “[Just] to seize 30 toy guns!”

Ben Martin disagrees that the toy guns could ever be considered dangerous.

“To say these are readily convertible to machine guns is absolutely preposterous,” he said. “The round wouldn’t go into the firing chamber and even if the firing pin did strike the primer the gun would basically blow up in your face.”

“With minimal work it could be converted to a machine gun,” Crenshaw said.

White House to push ACORN pet project

The White House is considering a new policy that would give an advantage in bids for billions in government contracts to companies that pay workers “living wages” and offer generous benefits.

WND has learned the “living wage” campaign has long been pushed by the radical Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now, or ACORN, and was largely initiated on a local level in the 1990s with the help of a socialist party of which evidence suggests Barack Obama was a member.

A subcommittee  met with (Obama) to interview him to see if his stand on the living wage and similar reforms was the same as ours,” recalled Marxist activist Carl Davidson.

Davidson was a Chicago member and activist within the New Party. He told WND he handled some of the New Party member databases and attending most of the party’s meetings.

Davidson is also a notorious far-left activist and former radical national leader in the anti-Vietnam War movement. He served as national secretary for the infamous Students of a Democratic Society anti-war group, from which the Weather Underground domestic terrorist organization later splintered.

“We determined that our views on these overlapped, and we could endorse his campaign in the Democratic Party,” Davidson said.

The Associated Press obtained documents outlining the White House plan. The documents reportedly show the government would examine the wages and benefits – such as health insurance, retirement benefits and paid leave – a firm pays its employees as a factor in the process of awarding government contracts.

The Medicare Reimbursement Catastrophe

Unfortunately, as many seniors are discovering, coverage does not always guarantee care, and holding government insurance does not necessarily mean that you will find a doctor who will treat you.

Already, about one in four Medicare patients seeking a primary care physician is having trouble finding one, according to MedPAC, Congress’ advisory body on Medicare.  Physicians have told AMA that steep Medicare cuts will force them to limit the number of Medicare patients they treat. A new 2010 survey of neurosurgeons found that 60 percent are already reducing the number of Medicare patients in their practices, and cuts will force nearly 40 percent to decrease the number of new Medicare patients they see. More than 18 percent of neurosurgeons will no longer take new Medicare patients.

The reason?  Doctors at the clinic were simply not receiving sufficient reimbursements from the government to cover the cost of treating Medicare patients.

In fact, Mayo officials claim they only receive only about 50 percent of treatment cost.10  The Mayo website explains further:  “Mayo Clinic loses a substantial amount of money every year due to the reimbursement schedule under Medicare.

In addition to Arrowhead, the Mayo campus in Jacksonville, Florida is already curtailing its association with Medicare. This in spite of the fact that the Jacksonville campus has been a “nonparticipating” Medicare provider since 2003, meaning that they “can charge Medicare patients a higher rate than what the government program normally allows for physician services and outpatient care.”14

How did this happen?  Why does Medicare reimburse doctors on average only 80 percent of their treatment costs?30  Physician reimbursements are casualties of efforts to rein in Medicare’s exploding costs, and are determined by a formula called the sustainable growth rate system (SGR).31

Obama considers new US nuclear strategy

Just another rachet down of our security by this naive man. Or is it?

US President Barack Obama is making final decisions on a broad new nuclear strategy for the United States that will permanently reduce the US nuclear arsenal by thousands of weapons, The New York Times reported Monday.

Obama’s new strategy — which would cancel or reverse several initiatives undertaken by the administration of former president George W. Bush — will be contained in a nearly completed document called the Nuclear Posture Review, the report said.

Obama’s critics argue that his embrace of a new movement to eliminate nuclear weapons around the world is naive and dangerous, especially at a time of new nuclear threats, particularly from Iran and North Korea, the paper said.

Many elements of the new strategy have already been completed. As described by senior administration and military officials, the strategy commits the United States to developing no new nuclear weapons, including the nuclear bunker-busters advocated by the Bush administration, The Times said.

And this is just the beginning. The new Coast Guard pick also calls to slash the Coast Guard’s largest homeland security operation, which patrols critical infrastructure and other sensitive security structures on or near waterways. And he would decrease the number of specialized units stationed in key coastal areas where an attack could be devastating. See earlier post:
