Muslim College opens in United States

Let’s just get to the bottom line: Here is an update courtesy of Al Jazeera. In August 2010, I posted about the Muslim college being opened in Moonbat City, Berkley, Here . What the video isn’t telling you:

Bottom Line: Zaytuna currently offers two majors, a choice of Islamic law and religion or Arabic language. Zaytuna held its first classes this summer — intensive study of Arabic to prepare for classes in the fall.

“The incoming students at Zaytuna College must pass a proficiency exam – – not in English – – but Arabic. Those who fail must enroll in the school’s “Arabic Intensive Program. … At the completion of their Islamic training, students, who specialize in Islamic theology, must pass an exit exam in tajwid – – the proper recitation of the Koran.

Radical Islamic cleric Zaif Shakir, a frequent guest speaker at CAIR events, tells his Muslim audiences: “Jihad is physically fighting the enemies of Islam to protect and advance the religion of Islam. This is jihad.”

Acceptable targets of jihad, he says, include U.S. military aircraft. Shakir once told a Muslim audience.

Zaytuna College is a new four-year college in Berkeley, California. Zaytuna is seeking to become the first accredited Muslim college in the United States. The name comes from the Arabic word for olives. (Like I care.)

The process of full accreditation could take several years. That will make it easier for students to get financial aid, and to have their education recognized by employers and other schools. Right, we will be supporting terrorists.

Christianity ‘close to extinction’ in places: An Islamic Victory?

Christianity faces being wiped out of the “biblical heartlands” in the Middle East because of mounting persecution of worshippers, according to a new report.

As we wind down this year and the season of holiday cheer comes to and end, it is easy to pass by one of the biggest stories that was under reported. That being the attack on Christianity throughout much of the world. Let us keep our brothers and sisters in our prayers. Here we go:

The study warns that Christians suffer greater hostility across the world than any other religious group.

And it claims politicians have been “blind” to the extent of violence faced by Christians in Africa, Asia and the Middle East.

The most common threat to Christians abroad is militant Islam, it says, claiming that oppression in Muslim countries is often ignored because of a fear that criticism will be seen as “racism”.

The report, entitled Christianophobia, highlights a fear among oppressive regimes that Christianity is a “Western creed” which can be used to undermine them.

The “lion’s share” of persecution faced by Christians arises in countries where Islam is the dominant faith, the report says, quoting estimates that between a half and two-thirds of Christians in the Middle East have left the region or been killed in the past century.

“There is now a serious risk that Christianity will disappear from its biblical heartlands,” it claims.

The report shows that “Muslim-majority” states make up 12 of the 20 countries judged to be “unfree” on the grounds of religious tolerance by Freedom House, the human rights think tank.

It catalogues hundreds of attacks on Christians by religious fanatics over recent years, focusing on seven countries: Egypt, Iraq, Pakistan, Nigeria, India, Burma and China.

State hostility towards Christianity is particularly rife in China, where more Christians are imprisoned than in any other country in the world, according to the report.

Iran’s joyless world for youth

No Water Fights in Iran. What a poignant story that says so much. One can only wonder how such a joyless world could be tolerated. This is how these folks would have the world live. Even the worst of humanity, before Islam, rarely was it required that there be the lack of pleasure for kids. It gives new meaning to the word barbaric.

Sajedinia warned that the force would act against others who disrupted “public order and security”.

A number of young people have been arrested in Tehran due to engaging in a water fight, using water guns and bottles, and have been accused of violating Islamic principles and norms.

Tehran’s police chief, Hossein Sajedinia, said a group of young Tehran residents were arrested for splashing water at each other, according to Radio Free Europe. Sajedinia warned that the force would act against others who disrupted “public order and security.”

 The young women and men gathered last week in a Tehran park to have a water fight. The event, planned and organized on Facebook, had reportedly attracted around 800 people. Many praised them for their creativity, for managing to organize the event; however conservative websites used the “incriminating” photos to accuse the young people of immorality and corruption.

One parliament deputy, Mousa Ghazanfarabadi, said the organizers of the event were trying to distance the youth from Islamic principles and the values of the Islamic republic. Another lawmaker, Hossein Ebrahim, called on the judiciary to take action against similar events.

Sharia Facebook page calls for beating Saudi women drivers

 Pamela Geller brings us this good news for women. Back to the stone age dear. Hillary– any comment? You were so in favor of the fine folks over at Facebook and Google for bring us the Spring Awakening. How do you sleep at night?  Michelle O’ Bama…oh, you have better things on your mind.

Facebook page calls for beating Saudi women drivers Yahoo News (hat tip Van)

A campaign has been launched on Facebook calling for men to beat Saudi women who drive their cars in a planned protest next month against the ultra-conservative kingdom’s ban on women taking the wheel.
The call comes as activists are demanding the release of Manal al-Sharif, a Saudi woman who was jailed for defying the ban.

The page, titled “The Iqal Campaign: June 17 for preventing women from driving,” refers to the Arabic name for the cord used to hold on the traditional headdress worn by many men in the Gulf, advocating the cord be used to hit women who dare to drive.

It has drawn over 6,000 “likes” on the popular social networking website.

Some on the page proposed distributing boxes of Iqals to youths and encouraging them use them to hit women who participate in the June 17 protest.

From Quite Normal: The Pew Research Center’s Global Attitudes Project is out with a new poll on what Egyptians are thinking about the dramatic political changes they are experiencing.

Egyptians are optimistic about their future, but it is a future that doesn’t include peace with Israel and wants cowed America.

In other words, Egypt is looking forward to becoming an international pain in the ass.

Oh, and the The Muslim Brotherhood has a 75% positive rating.

How will this translate into American relations with the new “democracy”?

Beirut — A majority of Muslims around the world welcome a significant role for Islam in their countries’ political life, according to a new poll from the Pew Research Center, but have mixed feelings toward militant religious groups such as Hamas and Hezbollah.

According to the survey, majorities in Pakistan, Egypt, Jordan and Nigeria would favor changing current laws to allow stoning as a punishment for adultery, hand amputation for theft and death for those who convert from Islam to another religion. About 85% of Pakistani Muslims said they would support a law segregating men and women in the workplace.

The poll was conducted April 12 to May 7 in seven countries with large Muslim populations. About 8,000 people were interviewed face to face, and the survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3 percentage points for Pakistan and 4 percentage points for the other countries. Muslim women – now limited travel, Egypt, not doing much better

So much for International Women’s Day.

Does anyone really think we have any shared values with these muslim folks around the world? Are we not regressing as far as our planet earth evolving forward in giving all inhabitants more enjoyment of life?  The news this time comes from India and Egypt. The women in Egypt who were excited to participate in the day’s festivities were marred by attacks. “In Egypt’s Tahrir Square, women attacked at rally on International Women’s Day”.CS Monitor  

“We fought side by side with men during the revolution, and now we’re not represented,” said Passat Rabie, a young woman who came with friends, after men aggressively dispersed the protest. “I thought Egypt was improving, that it was becoming a better country. If it’s changing in a way that’s going to exclude women, then what’s the point? Where’s the democracy?”

Now the news from India:  Women should not travel more than 48 miles from home without male chaperone’

Its ruling was based on the Hadiths – the sayings of the Prophet Muhammad during his lifetime. The 48 mile limit is believed to reflect the maximum distance one could then travel by camel or horse in one day through dangerous desert.

The ruling was made by the Darul Uloom Deoband, the leading Islamic university founded in northern India in 1866, which has millions of followers from Bangladesh and Pakistan to Muslim communities in Britain.

Its fatwa was issued after a female follower had asked: “Is a married woman permitted to travel to another country with her female sibling?”

In a reply on the Deoband website, she was told:”She cannot travel without a ‘mehram’ [male relative]. It’s mentioned in the Hadees that a woman should not travel for more than 48 miles except in the company of a ‘mehram’ relative.”

Its response, which was delivered on International Women’s Day, provoked anger among Muslim women activists who said it was based on conditions in the Arabian peninsula more than 1,400 years ago and no longer relevant in the modern world. Telegraph UK

Egypt: Islamist judge to head constitution committee

Here we are in the 21st Century Egypt

No real surprise here. We know how Egypt feels about Sharia law. Yet the MSM continues the drum beat that Democracy is just arround the corner. Women have much to fear. So here tis for another feel good story about how great the dissidents were/are. Google and the State Department, you keep at it. Keep in mind there are over 80 million Egytpians. Wael Abbas, the best-known human rights blogger in Egypt, who was sentenced to prison by the Mubarak regime last year, said it was a “worrying” choice.

“There is no such thing as a moderate Islamist,” he said. “We want a secular state that respects all religions and which belongs to all religions.”

(Telegraph)- Egypt’s new ruling military council has appointed an Islamist judge to head the committee drawing up a new constitution, angering some of those who argued last week’s revolution would deliver the country to the Muslim Brotherhood.

Tarek al-Bishry, the chairman of the constitutional panel, is a respected judge who criticised former president Hosni Mubarak and is regarded as moderate in his views. But he has been associated with Al-Wasat, an offshoot of the Brotherhood.

He has selected a committee made up mainly of judges and politicians, including a judge who is a Coptic Christian, but also a former Muslim Brotherhood MP. There are no women.

Looks like however things turn out in Egypt, women will not fare so well. Stoning, and other primitive methods of justice will be on tap if the majority have their way with whatever goverment develops. I found this from a post last month in Atlas Shrugs. Bill Bennet was talking about the Pew Research as well this morning, so instead of the endless redundant talking points, how about getting to the heart of the matter.

Muslims in Indonesia, Egypt, Nigeria and Jordan were among the most enthusiastic, with more than three-quarters of poll respondents in those countries reporting positive views of Islam’s influence in politics: either that Islam had a large role in politics, and that was a good thing, or that it played a small role, and that was bad.

Turkish Muslims were the most conflicted, with just more than half reporting positive views of Islam’s influence in politics. Turkey has struggled in recent years to balance a secular political system with an increasingly fervent Muslim population.

I had no idea that the Somalia folks were setting up shop in Minnesota. It seems like a cold place for these guys compared to Somalia. It is a puzzle as to why this seems to be our new immigrant class. Anyway, this vid is a stunner. Minnesota is headed down the ”Sharia Law”  bit, big time.

1 in 3 UK College Muslims Support Killing for Islam, 40% Want Sharia

While many choose to live in denial, the war has begun. Looks like there was at least one good thing out of Wikileaks. We can hope that the P.C. movement wakes up in time.

Once again news out of the United Kingdom warns us of the spread and influence of radical views among high percentages of Muslims.  While the Left continues to claim that fears of Islamo-facism and the spread of Sharia is a red herring, our neighbors over the pond are living in the realization of those fears.

Of the many recent leaks by Wikileaks, one  involved some research the American government utilized in early 2009.  In hopes of better understanding Muslim college students in the UK, our government paid attention to a survey done by The Centre for Social Cohesion out of England.  The study questioned both Muslim and non-Muslim students in 30 British universities on their views of Islam.  The CSC survey is a massive report called “Islam on Campus”.

The statistic that stood out the most was that 32% of Muslim college students believe it is OK to kill someone in the name of religion.  Most who held that belief said that killing is perfectly fine if you are defending your religion.  So it shouldn’t be surprising that another CSC study (done in July 2010) revealed that 1/3 of terrorist attacks done by British Muslims the last ten years was done by people who had attended universities.

Other parts of the CSC research found that 40% of Muslims want Sharia law in the UK for Muslims.  1/3 of those want a worldwide Caliphate based on Sharia.  There are already over 85 Sharia law schools in the British Isles, so their wish is becoming true.  Moreover, 54% of those wanted a Muslim Party to be represented in Parliament.
