Santorum and Satan

Santorum and his issue with Satan speech given at Ave Maria. You will need speakers probably to hear it, the transcript can be found below the video.

Transcript:

“This is not a political war at all. This is not a cultural war. This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country – the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age. There is no one else to go after other than the United States and that has been the case now for almost two hundred years, once America’s preeminence was sown by our great Founding Fathers.

He didn’t have much success in the early days. Our foundation was very strong, in fact, is very strong. But over time, that great, acidic quality of time corrodes even the strongest foundations. And Satan has done so by attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition.

He was successful. He attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions. The place where he was, in my mind, the most successful and first successful was in academia. He understood pride of smart people. He attacked them at their weakest, that they were, in fact, smarter than everybody else and could come up with something new and different. Pursue new truths, deny the existence of truth, play with it because they’re smart. And so academia, a long time ago, fell”. Continues over at  Right Wing Watch

Here is how the Catholic University summed up Santorum’s speech that day.

The thing that should be concerning everyone is not what the “free press” should make of his speech or that he should back down from this standpoint but that he ever had it in the first place. It’s not a mindset that the Commander in Chief and helmsman at the wheel of our economy & evolution as a world power (yes, I said evolution…) should have. I personally can’t stand waffling, especially from some wealthy fat cat running for office, just so that they can get elected. If he backs down from his beliefs, that’s just as bad a making them public. Making enemies of much of the rest of the world while beating the drum to turn the clock back on our already starved education system a 100 years just keeps us as a people off-balance and afraid; all the easier to be taken advantage of by the greed & self-interest of the majority of those in Washington. Belief is best harbored in the heart, not the ballot box.

    • bunkerville Says:

He was speaking at a religious institution and sharing his beliefs, and not as running for President. As long as he does not attempt to institute his belief system on the public at large, I do not see why others should have a problem, Thanks for stopping by, and stop by again.

  2. Matt Says:

    Linked at the Conservative Hideout!

  3. Angel Says:

we shall see but the haters will come out in droves…at least he speaks his mind!

  4. Steve Dennis Says:

I have to say, these comments by Santorum do bother me. I know they were said by him as a private citizen and not as a presidential candidate, but we are not electing a preacher in chief, we are electing a commander in chief. I do support Santorum, but he is going to have to back down from this if he wants to have any real chance of winning the election.

  5. Conservatives on Fire Says:

I’ll be surprised if the media doesn’t demonize Santorum over this speech. (excuse the pun)

  6. bunkerville Says:

Rush has his response to it:
Saul Alinsky, who’s the primary mentor of “Barack Hussein Obama! Mmm, mmm, mmm!” Saul Alinsky, the author of the book Rules for Radicals — a book about which Hillary Clinton wrote her masters or doctoral thesis, whatever it was, when she was at Wellesley. Saul Alinsky, who Obama has studied and implements to this day and whose tactics he taught while ostensibly teaching law at the University of Chicago.
Saul Alinsky dedicated his book that all these leftists love to Lucifer, the Devil! Here’s Alinsky’s dedication: “Lest we forget, at least an over the-shoulder acknowledgement to the very first radical from all our legends, mythology and history — and who is to know where mythology leaves off and history begins or which is which? The first radical known to man who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom: Lucifer.” Saul Alinsky made that dedication in his book Rules for Radicals. So Santorum is just joining the crowd here in discussing this.

  7. Teresa Rice Says:

Excellent post! Santorum is spot on. This in no way, shape, or form departs from the Catholic faith. The devil uses people in order to attack institutions. We’re seeing that with Obama now in the way he is attacking people of faith, people of conscience, by the way his administration is tyrannically forcing religious institutions to cover evil acts.

  8. silverfiddle Says:

The leftwing and their toadies in the press will make a lot of hay out of this…

  9. Carl D'Agostino Says:

Rick claims his Catholicism but this is not Catholic theology. It is pure Jehovah Witness and possibly 7th Day Adventist. The essence of those faiths is that all things made of man are not of God and therefore are contaminated and therefore the instruments of Satan to beguile us. I make no judgment on the beliefs of these 3 faiths other than to say spiritual matters do not belong in the secular aspects of democracy in keeping with separation of church and state. We should not codify religious views into civil law. My real objection is that it is a diversion when 30 million jobs need to be created and on the world scene we have become an economic colony of oil and in a different way China.

I enjoy the political discourse your blog enables and to learn the opinions of others. I cannot go there on my humor blog because such is not why my audience visits. But I can participate here. Regards.

    • republican mother Says:

Gotta agree with Carl here. Anyone who follows my blog knows that I am not shy at all calling the demonic influences out. But I am equally aware that the Devil can use the language of the church to disguise himself. It would seem to me that the average Christian conservative is a pretty easy mark. All you gotta do is say the right verbiage, have a clean cut family and no questions will be asked.

The man ran pretty tight with the boyz at K Street – no devilin’ going on there! Double facepalm.

If Santorum the Sanctimonious is so concerned about the demonic influences as I am, then why hasn’t he come to the same conclusions about their sources as I have? The role of the nonprofits in instituting the liberal agenda roughshod over traditional values is a documented fact. Yet no mention is made. Why? I’ll tell you why, the people backing Santorum also back those NGOs. You’ll not hear Ricky tell you how all our foreign policy is set by foreign bankster through the CFR. Goldwater said something similar about the Trilaterals, but you’ll not hear Ricky talk about it.

    • bunkerville Says:

Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts. Stop by again.

    • bunkerville Says:

Carl– I responded below Republican Mother to you..
