The Dictator ship begins. No U.S. Law Broken. No Charges filed. Want to bet the International Court next? This will be the test case. This was Eric at his best. Do not count on our supreme court.
“The Federal Department of Justice in Washington, D.C. has suggested that the use of wood from India that is not finished by Indian workers is illegal, not because of U.S. law, but because it is the Justice Department’s interpretation of a law in India. (If the same wood from the same tree was finished by Indian workers, the material would be legal.) This action was taken without the support and consent of the government in India.”
It’s an Obama world…
The Holder Justice Department raided Gibson Guitar facilities in Nashville and Memphis this week because the company is using unfinished wood from India and this violates Indian law… Not American law.
Unreal. Video Here: Gateway Pundit
The Gibson Guitar CEO responded to the unjust raids today:
Henry Juszkiewicz, Chairman and CEO of Gibson Guitar Corp., has responded to the August 24 raid of Gibson facilities in Nashville and Memphis by the Federal Government. In a press release, Juszkiewicz said: “Gibson is innocent and will fight to protect its rights. Gibson has complied with foreign laws and believes it is innocent of ANY wrong doing. We will fight aggressively to prove our innocence.”
The raids forced Gibson to cease manufacturing operations and send workers home for the day while armed agents executed the search warrants. “Agents seized wood that was Forest Stewardship Council controlled,” Juszkiewicz said. “Gibson has a long history of supporting sustainable and responsible sources of wood and has worked diligently with entities such as the Rainforest Alliance and Greenpeace to secure FSC-certified supplies. The wood seized on August 24 satisfied FSC standards.”
Juszkiewicz believes that the Justice Department is bullying Gibson without filing charges. Full story here at Gateway Pundit
Recall our earlier post:
Supreme Court takes into account Internationl Opinion
Kennedy’s statement:
”But “‘[t]he climate of international opinion concerning the acceptability of a particular punishment’” is also “‘not irrelevant.’”
Meanwhile, Kagan while she was at Harvard:
“My understanding is that she instituted three new courses to the required curriculum and, in so doing, got rid of a requirement to take constitutional law,” Robert Alt, senior legal fellow and deputy director of the Center for Legal and Judicial Studies at the Heritage Foundation, told CNSNews.com.
“Currently, at Harvard, constitutional law is not required for first-year law students, or even for graduation,” But International Law is required Alt added. CNS News

This must be part of Obama’s jobs program, right up there with stopping the South Carolina Boeing plant and shutting down oil drilling

Really a 5 alarmer for our freedoms. Yes indeed.

Ya’ll they ain’t crazy or stupid. The people that are chosen for the Supreme Court come from a list of pre-approved collectivists? You know that right? When you read the CFR magazine, Foreign Affairs, or even Gillette’s World Government book that Trestin has highlighted, you see that this is their endgame -a world government ruled by them. Kagan wasn’t properly vetted because just about the whole congress is on the take from these people. Don’t think that this is a recent development with Obama – the road to get us here has been decades in the paving, only now that they’re starting to turn on us visibly are we beginning to take notice.

A very sad commentary that this did not make headline news. But they always do it when we are distracted.

Do you have a guitar? I do. We may be next.
It’s not enough to know that the body of your old guitar is made of spruce and maple: What’s the bridge made of? If it’s ebony, do you have the paperwork to show when and where that wood was harvested and when and where it was made into a bridge? Is the nut holding the strings at the guitar’s headstock bone, or could it be ivory? “Even if you have no knowledge—despite Herculean efforts to obtain it—that some piece of your guitar, no matter how small, was obtained illegally, you lose your guitar forever,” Prof. Thomas has written. “Oh, and you’ll be fined $250 for that false (or missing) information in your Lacey Act Import Declaration.”

Right on R… great point. I guess we must strip the Ivory off our pianos or go to jail. and it will not be in the USA.

Gah! This thing about Gibson Guitar is beyond the pale!
Well, doesn’t that just figure?
The Ivy League schools are bastions of Leftism. I would never send any child of mine to such a school!

Un-freaking believable. This Holder is totally out of his mind. I don’t see what standing our “Justice” department has in this matter. If Gibson was breaking some international patent, that would be different but that does not seem to be the case.
Darrel Issa will hopefully bring this Marxist down for his part in the Fast and Furious scandal.

Russia has been on this story for some time. I can’t find the earlier stories, but they have been claiming this for some time. Each person has to come to their conclusion on their own, otherwise we are the tin foil hat crowd. Where that expression came from, I would love to know. Thanks for the link, Jim. One must be led to the truth.

Karen, we are in the last days of this great nation. Where is the outrage and the ACLU?
